ATTENTION: USE LOOSE FILE DOWNLOAD IF YOU HAVING DARK FACE BUGS. OR THE BSA DARK FIX(YSOLDAALL)-BSA STRUCTURE FIX
AND ALWAYS PUT YSOLDAALL AS LAST ESP. IN LOAD ORDER. UNLESS USING IMMERSIVE WEAPONS PATCH IN THAT CASE IT SHOULD BE LOWEST. AND DON'T RENAME THE FILE! NO MATTER WHAT VERSION YOU DOWNLOAD

my pictures might be bright sometimes for some pictures I dont turn my shader off. I like my Skyrim brighter
    I am using ReShade with
    colorfulness.fx
    adaptive sharpness.fx
plenty of more options to pick from but I am just using those two

I am not a modding expert, and I don't know how the file structure of mods and their assets work.
But I think I resolved the dark face issue, at least on my end.

In the BSA and the loose files version of this mod, what I see in
    "meshes -> actors -> character -> facegendata ->facegeom"
is the "ysoldaall.esp" folder ; (not the actual esp, which is in the data folder)

I think the nif files here (inside this ysoldaall.esp folder) need to be in folders
named after the original skyrim and dlc esms, instead of "ysoldaall.esp" ***

So instead of "ysoldaall.esp", the "meshes -> actors -> character -> facegendata ->facegeom" folder should have 4 folders:
    dawnguard.esm
    dragonborn.esm
    skyrim.esm
    HeathFires.esm

    And each would have the nif files for their characters;
    i.e. the nif files for the original skyrim characters should be in the folder skyrim.esm;
likewise for dawnguard characters, which would be in the dawnguard.esm folder, etc.

since I am lazy, I just created those 4 folders, and copied all the nif files in ysoldaall.esp into those 4 folders.
Seems to work and resolve the dark face issue.
(assuming no conflict with other mods that change those npcs or this mod is loaded near the end)

Of course, my method was lazy and brute force. Ideally, to reduce the hard drive space required, we need to have
only skyrim characters' nif in skyrim.esm, only dragonborn dlc characters in dragonborn.esm, and so on.

*** Like I said, I am not an expert, so maybe this method of having ysoldaall.esp as the folder to hold the nif files could work in some setups,
but it didn't on mine, until I moved the nif files to the original and dlc esm named folders.

OMG! Thank you so much for catching this! I wasted hours fiddling around with my load order, in and out of xedit trying to figure out what the hell was going on with the black-face bugs. LOL

This is such a simple thing--a file structure fix. It's comical how much work this mod creator put into this fantastic mod and then fucked it up with something so simple as a misplaced folder structure. LOL

Amazing. Thanks for finding this. It fixed everything right up.

I added a BSA DARK FIX(YSOLDAALL)-BSA STRUCTURE FIX
I put the nif files into different folders structures like you said to do in each DLC.
when I made the mod all the faces went into the same folder so I did not think to put them into different ones

*I have been very busy lately so sorry its so late

You have to do the same thing normally with textures (your NIF files point for textures in the respective DLC folders), and you can remove all *.tga files, that will lower the size and weight of the file (i did wipe 1G).

WOW I AM IMPRESSED!!!! Of all the overhaul or even just regular replacer/npc mods on nexus I've seen (and I've seen most, see my profile) yours is the most immersive, taking into account the characters themselves, true character design at it's finest!!!!! I will say I am apprehensive about using this mod given the posts and your lack of activity lately but still either way WOW! Love you man.

    Dear Profi Modder,
I really need your help with my skyrim issue and hope you can make my life easyer :)
I installed ysoldaall's mod with MO2. After that i switched to the MO2 Mod folder and exchanged the .bsa and .bsl with the "no dark face" fix data.
    Everything works fine. No issues.

Now i also installed Beijin skin and CBBE. I know that they use some of the same textures. But i thought with the right load order i can fix it.
First everything seems to be working but if i try to switch the location through a loading area the game crashes.

I also have USSEP installed, also switched .esp data once as a try but it doesent matter.

Please give me a helping hand.
    Your Esmey

Can someone please tell me how to run this mod properly? I downloaded the first main file and then i had the black face glitch so I downloaded the second file (the black face fix file) without deleting the other one or anything, I clicked on the "yes to all" when it asked if i wanted to overight files from the first download then I had the purple hair glitch. What do i do to fix this?

UPDATE: had to download KS Hairdos Male and now it's working

Ok, after dedicating some free time to creating patches(28) and downloading the Fixed BSA you uploaded, I was able to get this to work with my load order. I will say that you did some really great work and I once again thank you for the time and effort you put into this mod. It's a huge upgrade to my game. I look forward to anything else you release. Cheers!

I really like what you did with this mod. The changes work for me. I would like to mention some incompatibilities(dark face bug) for those who are looking to download this.

    Immersive Weapons
    H.A.S.T.E.
    Warmonger Armory

I think I might have a couple of more in my list but I haven't dug too deep yet. I would imagine that any mod making edits to these NPC's would be conflicting. I did do the manual install and I have your .esp loading last but I am still getting the "dark face" issue. I would run it through the CK with the CNTRL + F4 trick but I'm afraid it would end up overwriting your face data with that from vanilla.

I would try to patch this but I wouldn't know where to begin.

Anyway, it does look like you did a great job and spent a lot of time on the details. Maybe if someone makes some patches I'll try it out for a full play-through.

SHOULD BE FIXED USING LOOSE FILE DOWNLOAD
thank you. and for the info. and I appreciate the kind words.

I will be then uploading a loose file version along side my BSA version.(its just so much gb because of the amounts of NPC's effected)

but I dont believe that immersive Weapons would be the cause of any of it because that is one of the mods I run myself

hahhahaha yea no you dont want to to load this mod up in CK and do that its such a pain in the ass with all the edits I made. the Loose file download is that

Just so you know, loose files won't fix all incompatibilities between mods.
It might fix the blackface but other issues will still exist.
For example lets take immersive weapons.
IW plugin edits some NPCs to have new weapons.
Loading your plugin after IW will make it so any NPC that both this mod and IW edit will not have the IW weapons...because your mod is overwriting it.
      Thats what patches are for.

Ok. I tried it again with the updated .esp for USSEP and the IW patch. I did a manual install of the loose files and .esp's and made sure that your .esp was loaded last via LOOT. I even disabled KS Hairdos to be sure. I still had the problem but like before it was only with NPC's affected by other mods. Most of which were by IW. I'm going to try a new game to see if that may be the issue. I'll edit this post with my results.

Edit: No luck with the new game either. I'm sure it's got to be something in my load order but I don't have a lot of time to go through it. I'll still endorse your work though and track it.

Blackface is all about install order AND load order.
If you have a mod that edits npcs installed after this one even the load order wont matter as the other mods facegen files will be overwriting this ones.
Anyways blackface is not the fault of any mod it is the fault of the user and them not knowing how to deal with it.

      @sirjesto

"Anyways blackface is not the fault of any mod it is the fault of the user and them not knowing how to deal with it."

I know full well what the problem is and which mods in my load order I need to disable to make this one work right but after testing the gameplay with this mod working I am not willing to sacrifice gameplay mechanics for aesthetics. And please, if you have a solution, enlighten us.

My only solution for my load order was to disable every mod that made any change to the NPC's in this mod, except the one with the provided patch.

The awesome Bijin series was not plug and play either without a lot of patches and that series didn't come anywhere near the number of NPC's this one does. The NPC's in this mod that were conflicted with IW looked fine after I installed the IW patch. It was the rest of the mods that I don't have patches for that are still conflicting with the remaining NPC's. And since I don't have time to patch them myself and I doubt anyone else does either, I am resigning myself to not using this mod.

      @ckstxjimmy

My issues are not with your mod but my load order. And once again, great work on this mod. I look forward to anything else you offer up to the community.

thank you again I am sorry, this mod is not popular enough to receive so much patch's and I don't know too much about them myself.
this is going to be my only visual overhaul mod. I have a number of other projects in the works that have to do with summons and quests and so on that I am excited about

      You obviously don't though.
You don't have to disable anything at all.
I use around 8 different NPC looks overhauls as well as a ton of other mods that edit NPC's like Immersive Weapons and Cloaks and everything else and removing mods is NOT necessary to fix the black face issue.

It is simply a case of having your install order and load order for NPC editing mods the same.
Then, you just need to patch the other mods that need them, like IW.

Again, you just don't know what you are doing.

"Again, you just don't know what you are doing"

535 plugins + 200+ retextures and a smooth running, playable game = you don't know what your talking about. The time required to patch the approx 1000 npc's in this mod is more than it's worth.

      As you said

"It is simply a case of having your install order and load order for NPC editing mods the same.
Then, you just need to patch the other mods that need them, like IW."

Yep, no argument their. I just don't want to do it. I disabled conflicting mods to test this one and once I realized that I actually have several dozen mods that would require patches for approx. 1000 NPC's, I chose not to mess with it. And if you really want to help people with your vast knowledge, try no to come across as an arrogant know-it-all, it just puts people on edge when it come to dealing with you, Otherwise have a great day and thanks for the unsolicited advice.

It's not impressive to me if you boast about having all those plugins and texture mods on a smooth running game and can't fix blackface.
You don't have the "patience" to patch your game?...I don't think so.
It sounds more like you don't know what you are doing.

I would try to patch this but I wouldn't know where to begin.

I have just as many plugins in my game and just as many NPC modded and I actually have the ability to do it.

Go add a few more mods to your smooth running game, rookie.
Just don't complain about a mod if it's because YOU don't have the time or patience or ability to use it in YOUR game.

And yes, I am an arrogant know it all, and I don't care if buttercups like you are on edge around me.

EDIT: Noticed you "liked" an article on NPC Overhaul conflicts yesterday. Hope you learned something.

Dude , you started this flame war. I never asked you for your opinion. And if you think I'm a rookie and a buttercup then that's ok. I don't require your validation for my life to be complete but you seem to feel you need to interject your infinite wisdom where it was never asked for or frankly wanted. And to be clear, I was never "complaining" about this mod. in fact I have had nothing but positive things to say about it. I knew full well from almost the start from seeing the "black-face" issue that I had conflicts that needed patching and I knew full well that it was going to be an issue that I was going to have to fix. But like I said. I don't have the extensive amount of time to do that so I am leaving it alone. I work for a living buddy and travel quite a bit. If I have to spend more than 20 minutes patching a mod then I'm not doing it. And yes, I fully admit to liking that article...SFW? It's useful information that someone took the time to post. Where are your guides and walk-throughs? If your going to flame people for not being as perfect as you and don't back it up then you sir are nothing but talk. So far all I've read from your posts are key-words that anyone could pick up from a forum. You can do this and you can do that. Great...I'm truly happy for you but I have yet to see anything useful from what you have posted. Once again, enlighten us oh mighty wise one and I will bow and grovel before your greatness. Other wise STFU. Just remember, I never asked you for your input. Nor do I care to hear now. Have a nice life.

Hello, TheDarkestDarkness. If you like, you can look up "NL4 U NPC" (fantastic mod by the way) on Skyrim SE Nexus. The author of the mod who goes by the name JRICH604, wrote an excellent guide on how to make NPC overhauls work with your load order. It is near the bottom of the page under a "Spoiler" tab. Hope this helps. Good Mod adventures to you.
