It depends on what you mean by ESL. If you mean "light master" (that is, flag it both ESL and ESM), the answer is "yes". If you mean "light plugin" (ESL-flagged .esp), the answer is "you can't do it because this already is an ESL-flagged .esp".
"Farengar won't ask the Arch-Mage to deliver his stuff to Arcadia." Makes sense but using this logic you can disable half of the quests in the game after the player becomes known as dragonborn
Haven't decided whether or not to use this mod but wanted to share an encounter with Farengar after becoming Archmage.
Had't done Farengar's "frost salts delivery" quest yet. Was dressed in full Archmage reglia but Farengar still expected me to deliver the salts since I was "best suited for this type of task". Any chance you handled this type of situation differently in your mod?
LOL, never thought about that. Preventing the request would be quick and easy. Adding new dialogue like "O mighty Arch-Mage, might your pitiful servant bother Your Greatness with a most humble request?" seems a bit overkill.
I wouldn't put it past Farenger to say just that. 99.99% of players wouldn't have waited so long before quizzing Farengar about there being other magic users in Whiterun so I didn't expect you to include Farengar not tasking Archmage to deliver the fire salts as an option. Thanks and endorsed.
Do you think this mod would play nice with Choose Your Own Arch-Mage or would it cause NPCs to recognize you as the Archmage even if you give up the position?
This checks whether the player has college faction rank 6 (Arch-Mage.) That mod should lower your rank if you relinquish the title (it wouldn't make sense otherwise.) No rank = no hellos, no respect.
Do you know if using the RDO version of this mod would cause issues with the RDO Update and MCM? That mod says it's a good idea to disable old RDO patches as they cay cause CTDs.
SSEEdit shows no issues, and this isn't a RDO patch but a mod with a RDO-compatible version which is supposed to override RDO and any other possible version or update of it.
I have a feeling you miss-spelled by accident, on the main mod page, this part of the description I made bold below.
Magic vendors no longer tell you "So, you wish to master the arcane arts..." when you're the College Arch-Mage. The Arch-Mage is not greeted with "May I help you, Arch-Mage?" and "Greetings, Arch-Mage." by NPCs who don't have the proper voice files for those dialogue lines. ESP-FE
Not really. The "problem" with NPCs without the voice files is that you see the subtitle but hear nothing, a bit odd for me. If you play without subtitles, obviously you don't notice the issue because you hear and see nothing. For example, I have a mod with atronachs as guards who kept trying to greet me because they're actually "college members". My simple "solution" has been: they don't say the greeting if Bethesda didn't record voice files for them.
The "master the arts" part is the original "respect" one. Later I made the second tweak for myself and thought I might as well add it to the mod -- it does nothing bad for players without the issue and a few might benefit from it.
Thank you for elaborating,.. I don't like playing with subtitles like you said yes! I simply thought that the mod makes everyone address you by your title after you become Arch-Mage.
Perhaps I'm failing at interpreting properly the main page description the way it is worded.
It would be nice though if you could rename the ESP for RDO-Polite version to "RespectTheArchMageRDO.esp" as to be consistent with older versions and load order.
The name change doesn't matter in this case: they're just overrides of vanilla dialogue infos -- no quests, no scripts. Just delete the old one and let the installer take care of everything.

But... it was a request, it made some sense, it was going to be a ten minutes work, it's optional.
Why not?

Love the video inserts.

Did you mean to say - is now ?

Thanks again!

I made that remark just for consistency and for Skyrim not to complain on start for a missing ESP.
No worries though...
The Harbinger is usually described as a primus inter pares, not an actual guildmaster and boss.
I'll have a look at it next week when I'm back home.
