FYI you don't need a mod for this. setstage TG09 50 will skip returning the key and still allow you to finish the quest, become guild master and keep the key
that's unrealistic :O I wish it would be like that, you go in front of this goddess and she asks you for the key then instead of giving it to her you fight her and become the Anker yourself as long as you keep the key the luck is back to the thiefs, and maybe thiefs assult you from there to become the anker themselfs I have tons of ideas if you want take it there xD
Hermaeus Mora is really not that powerful, the daedric princes are really mostly the same in power, but I'd say Nocturnal is up there with Sheogorath and Mehrunes Dagon, but none of them even compare to Jyggalag in his true form, others are as I already said very similar in power.
Figured out a perfect workaround, as it was not letting me keep the key. Enable the mod, then when you are in the inner sanctum, enable noclip and then drop the skeleton key while above the ground via player.drop 0003A070 1 and from there, return the key while the original key is floating in the air. after you return the key, pick the one you dropped up and boom. You have the skeleton key with it still being truly unbreakable. :)
Yeah the mod also did not work for me, although it did change the interaction menu to say [fake]. I have a cleaner solution than player.additem, which does not work as the skeleton key will then act as a normal lockpick. Use player.drop 0003A070 1 before you activate the Ebonmere lock, then activate the Ebonmere as normal. Once the Ebonmere is activated pick up the skeleton key and it will work fine without needing the unbreakable perk. I am not sure if the mod is required for this to work but I did have it enabled.
Yeah the key got removed when I activated the "Return the Key" so this mod didn't work for me. Had it at the end of my Load Order as well. :/
But what Maguel said works, just using player.addoerk 10F13F while having a lockpick in your inventory. Makes it impossible for any pick to break. Kind of useless if you have vanilla perks and have leveled up your lockpicking skill, but for someone who uses Ordinator the unbreakable perk is removed. Hence why I came here.
The loadorder doesn't really matter for this mod, Unfortunately existent characters that have been to the Twilight Sepulcher prior to this mod installation might still get the key removed. In this case, using console commands is the only way out. Main reason i've made this mod is that i hate lockpicking, it's tedious. So i use mods like Immersive Automatic Lockpicking and Skeleton Key is a Key to get free unlocks. But for that, the Skeleton Key is a must. Therefore the need to keep it.
I had got this mod before even starting the Thieve's Guild questline, so I hadn't been to the Sepulcher yet. I only just got there and found that the mod didn't work for me. I simply made a txt file and will run it as a bat from now one when I get to this point of the quest in future playthroughs, so I don't have to remember any console commands.
This mod does not work. It brings the "Return skeleton key [Fake]" text thingy but it still removes the key when you activate it.
Anyone else playing on PC you can use the same old console trick around this: Add a skeleton key item into your inventory player.additem 0003a070 1
Then add the skeleton key perk to yourself AFTER you have added the key and have it in your inventory. Also make sure you have at least one normal lockpick in your inventory player.addperk 10F13F
Without the perk even if you add another skeleton key to your inventory it'd still break with both the key and the perk it should work.
Weird, it worked when i tested (as you can see in the demo video), i'll look into it. Thanks for your feedback! edit: i just recorded this video testing the mod on Skyrim SE and it seens to be working as intended. regardng the perk, yea i just noticed it gets removed, i'll update the mod to make it so it doesn't. https://youtu.be/Y4hWndvQSBs
MissSevenka, when first testing the mod i had some issues where the key would still get removed, but after reloading the game within the cell it would work, i don't know if it's related to the cell not being "loaded" with the changes this mod does or something, but those testes i ran that worked, those were new characters created just for the testing, using console commands to get to the quest stages and places (used setstage to get the key, didnt add it with additem command, so the key is actually a quest item), try reloading the cell. Also, thanks for your feedback, it helps a lot!

also, this is just a mod,go tag it instead of whining about it being "unrealistic"

Good idea though.
