For those still considering, this mod is fantastic for lore. Purchasing the claw for a good price shows you're returning the favor to the Valerius' for giving you a chance when you showed up dirt caked in prison rags. It's a win-win, and it gives your character character. Thank you!
I don't know if this is a dumb question to ask here, but is there any way that I can get ahold of the original version of this mod for Skyrim Legendary Edition as well?
Well, I appreciate your suggestion, but that's not actually the same mod as this one. An LE "back-port" of this exact mod was briefly listed in the LE section, but apparently it has since been removed. I've been trying to learn how to make LE back-ports of SE mods myself, but so far it's just been incredibly confusing and overwhelming for me, and I haven't made much progress. There seems to be a lot of contradicting information on how it's done, or whether or not it even can be done.
Maybe a bit late for you AbyssalSpark but for anyone that wants to know here a short tutorial. For my example you will need SSEEdit ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164/ ) 0. ALWAYS backup your files before you do ANYTHING with them!!! (SSEEdit Backups files for you if you check the box when you close the program but just to be sure) 1. Open SSEEdit a list of all your installed Plugins will Show up rightclick anywhere in the list, and choose "select none" (so you don't load all your plugins) now select the file you want to make into an esl. SSEEdit will automaticly check the masterfiles of said Plugin (eg. Skyrim.esm, Dragonborn.esm etc.) 2. Wait for SSEEdit to finished loading the assets (Right side will Show the message "Background Loader: finished" ) 3.Click on your file and look at the right side, find the entry "Record Flags" (4th entry from the top) 4. doubleclick the empty space Right next to the entry. SSEEdit will give you a warning that you are about to change a record say yes to the message. 5.double click the empty space again and a window will open with entries and checkboxes next to them. 6.check the ESL entry and hit enter there should now be shown ESL in the before empty space. 7. Save, close SSEEdit and you are finished. Your file is now an ESL
Not every file can be easily made into an ESL and work as intended. If you are unsure ask the mod Author! SSEEdit will also not save the file if it can't be converted into an ESL.
Be aware that this mod adds new records, which means it is unsafe to set the ESL flag on a save that already had the non-ESL version active. It can corrupt your savegames. Also, if you use the SSEEdit script that scans for files that can be flagged ESL, it says this mod needs to have FormIDs compacted first.
While you're in xEdit, remove the entry under FormID list (0010D9B4) as well, that appears to be a stray edit.
edit: this mod also needs formids to be compacted before step 7 in Kagea's list can be done. I did it but ESL-flagging this one is possibly more trouble than it's worth if you don't 100% know what you're doing with xEdit.
Aaah, this will be perfect for my collection in the sanctuary of the Immersive College of Winterhold ! Thanks a lot These poor Valerius siblings were already robbed once, I'm not robbing them again of the very thing I returned to them. Plus I hate having the "stolen" flag on objects
Cool idea. I always hated having to give it back and then console in a duplicate for displays. Why not just buy it from the guy? Should cost more though -- like 5,000 septims (b/c you get 1200 when you return it).
I can increase the claw cost by four-fold making the price range from 2,000 gp to 6,000 gp depending upon player level. Are there others in favour of doing this?
I like it being more expensive, but could it not be based on level? Could you give us options of which one we want to download? I use lots of economy mods and depending on what sort of economy I have, a different price (higher or lower) could make sense.

You could have found it too by simply typing the words "golden claw" in the search bar, just as I did
You're welcome

Also in favour of not scaling the price by character level. I don't see what that would add to the game.
