V30E is meant to be used with the vanilla body mesh installed. Otherwise you will have problems.
And just to be clear--No, I won't make a stand-alone, FOMOD, or non replacer version, or offer CBBE or other body type versions. Please don't ask. This mod is made for pedantic history nerds, and caters to those sensibilities. It's a niche product, and I could care less about how many people download the mod or catering to normies, or those forced to bring their sex-life to Skyrim.
If you don't like my choices for a particular armor or faction replacement, or only want certain armors in your game, feel free to use SSEEDIT/Creation Kit and edit V30E 'til your heart's content. You can even upload it to the Nexus.
Design Notes--this mod limits it's timeline to 400CE to 1200CE, give or take a few decades.*
High Medieval plate armor didn't exist in this period. If you don't care to be constrained by such historic realities, see above.
*Originally I didn't intend to go beyond 1066 or so, i.e. The Battle of Hastings which in popular parlance ends the Dark Ages, but changed this because people wanted surcoats, and the original Vaultman Early Medieval Helm mod contained a few crusader-era helms (knight's greathelm, kettle helm, etc) so I could justify the addition, and changed the date to the early crusades. I won't be moving it again, no matter how many people ask for High Medieval armor. There are plenty of other quality options on the Nexus if this is your desired outcome.
Oldrim vs. SE--The Legendary and Special Edition versions of the mod are very different beasts (the SE version has assets that were created in SE, so back-porting is problematic) and should be treated as separate mods for technical reasons--i.e. instead of converting LE patches for example, always use the ones uploaded to the SE page, because otherwise there will be discrepancies. If you need a new patch for SE, just ask and I'll see what I can do.
NOTE--Pics are constantly being updated as I encounter things in game, so be sure to scroll through to see latest changes (the new patches and the weapon replacer are showcased at the 'end.')
AE Update Info--
After having the update forced upon me when launching the game with SKSE (this isn't supposed to be possible, but Steam is the worst, most invasive, atrocity ever forced on the gaming public), I had my whole load order implode. After much f***ing about, I finally pieced things back together, with the help of the Unofficial Downgrade Patcher (while keeping the only really useful CC content safely backuped, i.e. Survival Mode, and the Fishing mod isn't too bad) and have since decided to release a stand alone patch for Saints and Seducers at some point, but for now I recommend the above method if you hate having that content in game, clashing with V30E's aesthetic. (Simply back up the all the CC content, then use the Unofficial Downgrade Patcher. Afterwards simply add the CC esp's and bsa's you want back into your DATA folder, then activate the esps.)
COMING NEXT UPDATE--
Weapon Replacer 3.9--Fixed problem with the iron sword textures (bad file order). 10/8/23
V30E 3.8--Added new Elven mail coif to various leveled lists/shops, fixed inventory icons and re-textured the Elven scale cuirass variants added last update, to better match other Elven gear, refined Thalmor and Solstheim leveled lists/shops, especially Reavers. Also tweaked the
leveled lists of bandits, Forsworn, and Afflicted, to make more sense, have a more balanced progression during a play-through, and utilize a
better variety of gear. Various other changes and fixes. 1/12/23
Imperial Patch 3.4--Updated leveled lists and shop inventories, various tweaks and fixes, as well added new changes from main mod. 1/12/23
Weapon Replacer 2.9--This update adds many new replacers and unique weapons. Replaced iron and steel daggers with new seaxes, courtesy of Mr. Dave and Hrodeberht1 (both weapons are named 'longknife,' to avoid the obvious etymological anachronism and lore issues of using the term 'seax.') Replaced iron waraxe with new bearded handaxe model from LiefUlfson. Replaced the Imperial sword with a Migration period Byzantine blade courtesy of Hrodeberht1. Replaced Harkon's sword with a unique sword from Hrodeberht1. Various other tweaks and fixes. Note--I've re-textured many of the new additions to closer match the aesthetic of TCoS and V30E, mostly just de-saturating and other minor tweaks. 3/20/22
V30E 3.7--New replacers for the Masque of Clavius Vile and Visage of Mzund using assets from Kiberme and NordwarUA. Replaced Targe of the Blooded with a new re-textured shield from Vaultman30's YAGA. Added new scale cuirass and gambeson--with Dawnguard, Vigilants, Elven, and bandit variants, using assets from NordwarUA. Numerous other tweaks and fixes. Remember to update your patches to see new armors appear in leveled lists, shops, etc. 3/20/22
Imperial Patch 3.3--Updated leveled lists and shop inventories, various tweaks and fixes, as well added new changes from main mod. 3/20/22
Midwood Isle Patch 1.4--Updated to latest Midwood Isle version--3.0. Replaced new 'assassin armor' with unique V30E black gambeson. Added new Elven scale cuirass and gambeson variants to various leveled lists/shops. Other tweaks and fixes. 3/20/22
Midwood Isle Weapon Replacer 1.1--Updated to latest Midwood Isle version--3.0. Replaced new assassin's katana with unique Imperial blade from TCoS. Other tweaks and fixes. 3/20/22
(See the Changelog on main page for older info. The 'spoiler' tags on the Nexus seem to be broken for some reason.)
Try using the Unofficial Downgrade Patcher.
USSEP fixes an error with the assets used for the Daedric Mace (both enchanted and unenchanted) and Grimsever. If you use USSEP and the Weapon Replacer but no bashed patch, Weapon Replacer will override the USSEP's models replacement and use your mod's; if you also use a bashed patch along Weapon Replacer and USSEP, the bashed patch applies back the USSEP change. This can be quickly fixed with SSEEdit. Edit the bashed patch:
- In the "Static" folder, go to 1stPersonDaedricMace. In the Model/Model FileName line, copy the content of the TCOSS.esp column and paste it in the Bashed Patch, 0.esp column.
- In the "Weapons" folder, go to FFRiften09Grimsever. In the Model/Model FileName line, copy the content of the TCOSS.esp column and paste it in the Bashed Patch, 0.esp column. In the 1st Person Model line, copy the content of the TCOSS.esp column and paste it in the Bashed Patch, 0.esp column.
I'll take a look and adjust things for the next update (whenever that may be).
If you have a highly modded game (and using V30E, which is a complete armour and weapon overhaul, qualifies), understanding SE-Edit is the only way to ensure you don't have issues.
Look for youtube vids if you need help.
I've never used the hdt cloak mods, so I've never made any patches myself.
If anyone has done so, feel free to upload.
1. Anybody know the a way to get 4k textures for the armors in this pack?
2. Also, all the Forsworn are naked with blue tattoos for some reason. Anybody know a fix? if i recall theyre more Celtic/Druid in this mod
Look in SEEDIT to see what mods are overwriting it and fix your load order accordingly.
Can you imagine this mod but the visual quality of those new armor mods like armor of the the velothi and stuff?
over the top of V30 to replace the Imperials as legit Romans.. but in hindsight it over-wrote alot of the good from this V30 mod, and seemed to break some celtic armors (purple textures)..
any chance you could do a plugin replacement or integration of just the imperial armos? and maybe some of the celtic weaponry?
I notice some of the celtic weaponry from Historical Revival uses crazy cubemaps, and the steel sword was one of my favs.
if not i understand. used this mod for like 5 years now lol.
You'd have to look at both closely in SE-Edit and make adjustments as needed.
