Actually does fix the armor perks, and esl-flagged to boot. You sir, are a scholar and a gentlemen. Or a scholar and a lady. Or a scholar and non-binary.
@tarlazo I'd really appreciate if I could set an amount of armour pieces necessary to get the perks working. Some custom armours have only 3 pieces and one has to choose what he wants more: the perk bonus or the aesthetics. I usually choose some beautiful custom armour without the perk bonus. I wish we could have both. And as for the Matching Set, sometimes you want to combine different armor pieces, so you might wanna customize this value as well. At least it could be an optional feature.
Well, I understand the part about the custom armors with three pieces. While I still think it's a bit of cheating, I'll upload an optional version, no need to overload such a small mod with quests and scripts. About the Matching Set, the important word is 'matching'. You may combine any different piece of armor as long as they are same material (e.g., all-leather, all-iron, etc.), they don't actually need to be part of a single named 'set'. Removing that requisite wouldn't be sensible, like making Deflect Arrows work without a shield, so... no, sorry.
@ DedushkaMisha You were right, so I reconsidered, no point in making a 'half-cheat', now one version completely removes all the four-pieces restrictions.
> No MCM here, but I'm curious about what you'd like to be able to configure. > I could update the mod if I get fresh ideas.
I'd be into a version that only checked the four "canonical" items and made the perks ignore everything else. So many mods add utility items (carry-weight enhancing bandoliers, Fortify Archery hair dongles, etc.) that are light armor most often. I didn't realize they were wrecking my HA perks (though that explains quite a few butt-kickings I've unexpectedly received). Some of these items (underwear, decorative arm bands, etc.) don't make sense as HA. Not sure they make much sense as LA, either, I guess. But tracking them all down in mods to make them clothing-only would take a long time, and might also have the effect of boosting their enchantment capabilities if they're not set for no-enchant. (I'm not sure the base game actually makes clothing-only items hold better enchantments, but CCOR does.)
No worries. I figured out how it all works, so I can tweak up a local version to do what I want.
In the course of backporting your main version to LE (without the kind of cuirass-helm-boots-gauntlets check mentioned above), I noticed an inconsistency, where the Matching Set perks are checking if you're wearing ANY of the wrong weight (not material) of armor, but not all of the other perks are doing that. It seemed to make more sense to have the lead-in condition on all of them be 4+ of the correct armor-weight items, then for the MS perks to check for 4+ of matching-material items. I also put together a WaFR-compatible version as well as a USLeEP one (accounts for WaFR-added material keywords). I don't know if WaFR exists for SE and if so uses the same keywords, but if yes to both, then re-porting to SE from that should be a matter of just opening it in the SE CK and saving it again to get a Form 44 ESP. But I haven't put the backport up on Skyrim LE Nexus yet. Didn't do the "3 items" cheaty version yet (but will, since it seems popular), and didn't plan to do the 1-item supercheat version. LOL
Did backports of I think 8 of your other patches last night, too. It'll take longer to put them up on LE Nexus than it did to make them. That dialogue tweak for finding out what kind of bounty quest is going to be available before taking it is especially cool.
you should also add the heavy armor perk that reduces fall damage to the light armor. that perk alone combined with the armor to first damage makes light armor have no real benefit over heavy. you can easily hit armor cap with either one so your choice is a matter of aesthetic/rp combined with which weight class exclusive perks are better, and light armor basically has nothing to make it better in any way.
Not sure I completely understand your suggestion. Is it "have the Cushioned perk work even if you're also wearing some light armor on top of the four heavy armor pieces required", or "add a Cushioned-like perk to the light armor tree"? Anyway, both meanings seem to be something better suited to perks-overhaul mods; this little tweak only aims at allowing proper usage of multi-piece armors while still respecting the original ideas of the game developers. --edit-- You can easily remove the no-light-armor requirement yourself, in case that's what you mean: just delete the Subject.WornHasKeyword(ArmorLight [KYWD:0006BBD3]) = 0 condition.
I've been searching for a mod like this for a long time. However, many modded heavy armors actually have additional light armor pieces (like Talos Housecarl for exemple), wich doesn't work with this mod :(
Well, editing the perks would make them pointless, but changing the weight and keyword for the mismatched pieces is a 10-minutes work. https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Armor
Would be nice if you also made a version which ignored the head slot Essentially combining the effects with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21637
Or in-other-words instead of checking for >=4 have a version that checks for >=3
The 'cheat' version does no slot checks. Had a look at the helmet mod, it also removes the light/heavy-mix restrictions, call it 'shameless cheat' version?
The 'cheat' version, yes. One proper-weight piece of armor (any piece) is enough (E.g. fight wearing only a pair of boots to... distract the enemy). The 'honest' version gives you the perk if you wear at least 4 pieces, but they don't need to be the canonical four (chest, hands, feet, head), they could be for example panties, gloves, boots, and socks (or whatever a multi-piece custom armor puts in the many available unnamed slots).
Hi there, Got a few thousand hours in Skyrim and never for one second thought that the sets had to be matching materials for the perks. Now i know! Never too late to learn something new :) Your mod sounds very interesting, but a quick query, how does it cooperate with Ordinator?
thank you for this. will be endorsing. Was wondering why with a 2000 armor rating I was still taking damage. thought it was my extra difficult setting. nope...…... wasn't getting my perks. Thanks.
I'm using nexus mod manager. it happened again too. it shows a circle with a line through it instead of a check mark witch I believe means its either a problem or its deactivated. checked the plugins I don't see the plugin there. sorry also its not c meant to undated comment. Nexus said a problem occurred. Im using the vanilla with the 4 piece. sorry I don't have many answers. took a couple tries to get it installed again. cant imagine how stressful mod making is. I'm just an HVAC guy. checked the plugins on nexus again after reinstall I don't see the plugin. Also ran Loot its not there either.
Unpack the downloaded archive, select one plugin (only one), and drop it into the game's Data folder. I see now that I spelled USLEEP everywhere, instead of USSEP (don't know why, I must be getting old). Anyway, if you have the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch installed, choose one plugin with USLEEP in the name, then select the 'cheat' or the 'tweak' one. Lastly, activate it in nexus mod manager.
Poking into the ESP with TESEdit, it looks like the perks for Tower of Strength, Cushioned, Reflect Blows, Deft Movement, and Wind Walker aren't accounted for in this mod. They don't appear to be part of the mod description but it would be nice to have them to cover all related perks.
You're absolutely right, thanks for pointing it out, although Tower of Strength looks fine to me. It just checks if you're wearing all heavy or light armor, no matter how much or where, or am I missing something?
My mistake on Tower of Strength. I was looking a vanilla, UESP, and another similar mod in comparison and didn't pay close enough attention to that feat's original/UESP requirements.

I could update the mod if I get fresh ideas.

The mod is dead and buried, as far as I'm concerned.

cheers for the reply.
What do you mean with "a problem with c...…."?
Who or what says that?

Thanks again for your help. :)

thanks for sharing this idea with the community.
