There is a known conflict with the mod Immersive Wenches. You will not be able to get the quest to perform at taverns. Either load this mod after Immersive Wenches, or just do without playing at inns for money and free room. (Or create a patch. If you do, please let me know, and I will link to it from the description.)
There is a known conflict with any mod that modifies Viarmo. This can include NPC overhauls, Bard college overhauls, etc. You will not get his special dialogue or the ability to purchase songbooks. Either load this mod after the conflicting mod(s), or play BaB without those features. (Or create a patch. If you do, please let me know, and I will link to it from the description.)
If you have questions, you might want to check the Discussion forums on the Steam page for the mod (just above the Comments section). You don't have to use the Steam version of the game to view those forums.
For example, there is an extensive thread there on users helping other users set up the custom songbook.
Do we put the custom songs in "Data\Sound" or "Data\Sound\FX\Mus\Bard\Custom" and do we name them "#.xwm" or "Custom0#.xwm"? The MCM and the description page say different things. I am also assuming that the .xwm is the file extension and not part of the name. It would be weird if it were 1.xwm.xwm or Custom01.xwm.xwm.
I cannot get the custom songbook to work no matter what. I am currently trying all of the possible combinations, but I would like to know which one is correct so that I have a starting point for diagnosing my problem.
I do know that you have to read the songbook from Viarmo and have the custom songbook enabled in the MCM.
Nevermind... It is working now, for a reason that is beyond me. I'm going to leave this up since the MCM and the description page do say different things. It should be in Data\Sound, and be named 1.xwm, 2.xwm etc.
Edit: It is now a few weeks later. For literally no reason at all this advice stopped working for me and now the other naming and file path is what works. So... I don't know. If you have issues do both?
posting in december 2024 that my quest update for the "i'm done now" doesn't show up after performing in the tavern. the bard journal doesn't update with any stats as well and idk why :(
no wenches or whatever installed, i have skse, i don't have a gold bag i need to pick up or a gig i need to finish. it just straight up doesn't update in my journal or let me press "i'm done now" as the option doesn't even show up.
nobody has a fix it seems, so if by miracle somebody does, lmk please :)
*found the issue. "bards reborn skyrim's got talent - main file" is the problem. when disabled i get my pay and stay in the inn. when enabled, this mod stops the quest from updating and getting your tips and free inn stay. sucks ://
I enjoy this mod, but I have a question. Has there ever been a mod or patch to make this usable for the inns outside of Skyrim? For instance when using Bruma, or Falksaar, or Beyond Reach. Or custom inns added to skyrim?
I don't know if this will help others or not, but I had been having issues with the performance never finishing and the dialogue for "I'm done for now" never showing up after to collect coin & room. Furthermore, the entry for 'Bard Skill' in my journal was not increasing, which meant I could never take the Drum test with Malukah.
I got it to all work perfectly by keeping the same load order, but setting any scripts from Become a Bard to not be overwritten. To do this, just hide the script in the mod overwriting this one.
Now... on to see if I have other issues which need the script from the mods with hidden scripts.
I love the mod I really do, unfortunately the bards journal is a quest item and I personally hate that in Bethesda's games. Deciding for the player what's in their inventory. So uninstalled.
Again! Great job, awesome mod, works with no issue. If you ever decide to fix that bards journal being a quest item, I'll gladly redownload. :)
I love this mod. To me, it's a must-have for every play-through.
A quick question: does anyone know which of the body slots the lute occupies? There seemed to be a compatibility issue with the left rings mod, which alters body slots 50 and 51. I remembered a related discussion but couldn't find it. Anyway, thanks ahead.
Figured out through interface: Custom songs should be called (example) "Custom01.xwm". .xwm is a file extention and should not be included in the NAME of a file. File should be placed in derictory mentioned in mod description.
Also for things to work correctly, I remind everyone who reads this comment to check all options of a custom book, like instruments and length of a song.
If you ever get stuck in third-person when trying to play/after a song, you can use 'enableplayercontrols' in the console to regain controls and be able to go first-person again :-).

Enjoy~
Ok now it is, but no spells are working for conjuring an item.
