This is a gorgeous house… but gas anyone figured out a way yet to resolve the darn saving problem?

I’d like to use this mod so badly but with the saving messing up the way it does its a deal breaker. (And a heartbreaker seeing as how without the bug this could easily be in the top 5 player homes on the whole of nexus).

Ok... new version has fixed the save problem... only one small issue, every single custom container is now broken, only the vanilla chests are openable.

Thanks for the kind words, Rosvinar! I'm sorry that it seemed to have been one problem after another for you with this mod. I did ask Aetus to double-check this issue a little while back (which they kindly agreed to do), and the storage was working fine. Is it still an issue for you?

yes, apologies for not getting back to you, sadly it very much still an issue :(
I am using version 1.5.97 if that is relevant somehow. the actual cause i cannot say though, as everything else works fine, the custom containers in rayek's end work as does near enough from what i can tell everything else, its just the storage in svellhiem (which i won't lie makes no sense to me as to why) that seems to be a problem.

Damn, I'm so tempted to download this..it looks fantastic! My only fear is that I'll be vividly reminded of your gorgeous Morrowind house, which will then send me running straight back to Vvardenfell... a problem I often have as it is, every time I hear that haunting cry of the silt strider upon approaching Tel Mithryn. Seeing as I've finally managed to create a stable Skyrim installation, after nearly two months of very careful modding... I feel I should at least try to enjoy it!

Haha, thanks Sonja =D That silt strider call is just nostalgia central, isn't it!

Lol, yeah two months sounds about right to get o'l Skyrim up to spec. Just a heads up, If you got a glowing books mod at some point during that time, it'll make the static books glow in this. Also, some people get wonky physics and I was never able to sus out why they do and other don't. Still, it's worth a look, if I do say so myself =p

I updated the main page with instructions. You only need one but don't update it if you are currently using the house because it will restore everything to its default state. So, if you are just getting the mod for the first time, download the 1.1 version. If you are currently using the 1.0 version and want to keep all your items, do not update to the 1.1 version until your next playthrough. I hope this helps!
Also, I haven't tested it myself as I don't have Skyrim installed anymore but Aetus did and it appears to be working (as in, the save game issue is fixed at least).

Thanks for the reply, it will be a first time instal for me and i haven't travel to Solstheim yet so i'll try v1.1 in a few day. The house looks really nice, cheers.

Best house mod I could find in my 12 years of playing this game. I have never been satisfied and consistently disappointed by house mods that just couldn't fit my needs. I am incredibly picky with housing in this game and yet I never bothered to learn how to make my own (I'm lazy and would rather use non work time to play the game). This mod ticks every box except one and that one doesn't matter much so we can ignore that.

I read about issues regarding save files and potentially being bugged and according to another user, FrozenFirebrand, the issue was cell names containing underscores. I personally didn't save in the house before editing the cell names so I can't confirm the cause or effect but I can confirm that having changed the cell names in SSEEdit, save files behave the same as anywhere else in the game. As for the other issues I have read I'm afraid I'm no help there but I will still be using this mod and if things break I get to start a new game and find all the stuff again lol

Hey Aetus, thank you for the kind words : ) I'm glad this old mod still brings a little joy to some and I hope it manages to hold together well enough for you.

It sounds like you've managed to get the save-game issue under control? Would you mind at all if I asked you to share the fixed .esp file to upload for anyone who downloads it in future? I would of course give you full credit on both the main mod and downloads page in return for your efforts.

More than happy to share the file but I can't be sure if it is entirely fixed as I haven't had much experience just yet, only a couple of saves. I plan on trying to recreate the original bug again to test my theory and I will get back to you.

Edit: Managed to recreate the bug pretty quick, and yes I did manage to fix it, will absolutely share the edited .esp
Forgive my ignorance but I have limited experience with the Nexus (other than clicking the download button), how would you like me to get the .esp to you?

Heh, honestly that was my exact thought when I logged off last night! I thought you'd know =p  Umm... I'm not sure, the Nexus is a bit different than I remember. I don't even see a friend button anymore or a way to PM you...

Is Nexus just on the way out these days? I remember having a lot more buttons for these things!

      Edit:

My Discord name is Va1ha11a, surprisingly enough : ) You're more than welcome to send me a friend request and we can share the file there if you're comfortable with that?

Edit: No pressure though, just one option off the top of my head.

I have to say, this is such a beautiful home mod. Seriously one of the better ones I have seen, but unfortunately I encountered a really strange bug using it. I just moved my character's stuff in, and noticed that a bunch of my saves during that process were gone. Well, after some digging I found out they were not "gone", but basically they weren't appearing under my character's name. I could only find them by selecting "show all saves", and each and every hard save I had done had the exact same number. On top of this, it had every single quick save in there with none having been removed, same for auto saves. I have never seen or heard of a bug like this before.

That, and the fact that in here comments somebody said that they had stuff disappear from the home are the reasons why I have to unfortunately uninstall this. Like I said though, absolutely beautiful home mod and I hope that it gets fixed in the future. ^-^

I have the same problem with saving, very strange, I'm afraid that one day I will simply lose all the progress of my character, it is better not to risk it and move the resettlement to this wonderful house until better times.

A bit late to the party with this response but I looked up the cell naming in the console to confirm.

The cell names have underscores in them for this house which unfortunately creates a save game bug in SSE meaning saves in the house won't contribute to your character profile and go in a main profile instead.  You can still retrieve them from there by viewing all saves but not within your character refined saves.  If the cell name were changed to not have those symbols in them it should remove that bug.  This wasn't an issue in the 32 bit Skyrim which is why it's an easy thing to miss.

      Hi there,

Have you tried to rename the cell names without the underscores ? Did it fix the issue ?
It's one of the best player home ever but unfortunately, I just can't risk to use it.

      Cheers,

Alright homies, I didn't experience the issue with the saving myself but I did preemptively remove the underscores from the cell names (Literally only 2 cell names from what I could tell) using SSEEdit and I am able to save and load from my characters (made 2 to test twice) with no issues. Not sure exactly what the bug looked like but this might be useful to someone here I hope.

Edit: I recreated the bug by reverting the cell name changes and yes this is 100% the issue. Having removed the underscores the save games are back to saving as they should.

Fantastic mod!  For some reason, I seem to be unable to read the books inside.  It's distracting since I use "Unread Books Glow".  I tried using SSEEdit to give the books names but I'm still unable to read the books. When I try to read them, nothing happens.

While it is too soon for me to endorse this, i MOST DEFINITELY WILL!!! Amazing Mod! I have been looking for a great house for the Skaal Village ever since I switched from legendary edition. Used to use Elinora's Skaal you need house.

    BUT

    This house wins! Well done!

P.S. - my only issue is that it seems the windows in the house flicker for me. Not sure why. Disabling some of them stops it. Just and FYI.

Thank you very much go2kant, choosing this over any of Elianora's work is quite the complement =D Yes, those windows were particularly pesky. In my game it's not really noticeable, but I suppose I've been looking at them so long that It may just be my eyes at this point. I'm going to attempt to navmesh the balcony again when I get an opportunity, as caerendil has given me a lot of help, so i'll take another look at the windows as well. Do you use any lighting mods that might be making the issue more noticeable btw?
p.s. When you say disable the windows, what do you mean exactly(i'm still new at this)?

I use ELFX, but I'm not sure that is the culprit. Will attempt to disable some texture mods via MO2 since those are easy. I also suspect that SMIM (Static Mesh Improvement Mod) may be causing some issue.

When I speak of disabling, it is a command that can be used via the console make things invisible in the game. But when I now realize that it is killing the functionality of the windows. Will explore a little more.

      Keep up the great work!
      cheers

Tried disabling texture/mesh mods via MO2

      SMIM
      Rustic Windows
      Noble 2K Texture Pack

Nothing worked. I seems as though posts were added to the windows to provide the glass. Odd that your pictures seem okay but when I enter in my modded set up its like there are major clipping issues with the windows.

      LOVE LOVE this mode though!

I use ELFX as well. along with Rustic windows.

ENB seems to make the problem much worse. I am having insane window flicker since windows cast quite a bit of light; for me it's extremely visible. it looks like there is a layer of wood behind the windows that is clipping with the glass.

Is there no way to fix this? https://imgur.com/a/RriX7MG

      I love this house otherwise.

Apparently that's probably z-fighting...the flickering....means the meshes aren't joined right. needs to be slightly moved according to sirJesto

I suspect the problem with the windows is some lighting or environmental mod, or a texture mod, like ELFX or Noble Skyrim.
I would guess Va1ha11a used the NullTextureSet trick on some of those Whiterun window meshes to hide the wood parts. Some mod might be overwriting those NullTextureSets or resetting the mesh so the wood is visible again. Hence the beams over the windows.

(Someone on my Discord server asked about this and we we're doing some research so I figured I'd pitch in our findings and suspicions)

Thanks! I do notice that the house seems to be a solid wood exterior and interior with everything placed on top of it, you notice it with the windows and also when you open the exterior door to enter the house, behind the door is a solid panel of wood you see before the loading screen.

I do use Noble Skyrim, ELFX and Rustic windows. But I have not experienced this with other housing mods.

It may also have something to do with Dyndolod?

I am not sure how to check the NullTextureset?

I was so hopeful.. Installed and crossed my fingers that I could lie down to spoon with my spouse.. Seems the most beautiful player homes use custom bed coverings without the option (Activator) to have the vanilla covers compatible with sleeping mods that we have come to love. I just can't sleep standing.  Some do like Leaf Rest.

Please please choose Function over form keeping immersion over small aesthetics. This mod is so beautiful I wish I could enjoy your wonderful work~!

I would love to download this someday. Gorgeous player home. One of the best I've ever seen. Unfortunately I will refrain from downloading due to the bug issues people are reporting. Absolutely amazing work though. I hope you figure out the kinks!
