Here is the why. If you click on the preview file (under the mod name) in the download tab it will show that this has .pex files, which make up the different scripts this mod uses. They fire on specific conditions to make actions happen in the game. If you ESLify this mod, it compacts those files and you will typically break the mod.
While that is sometimes true, it is not the case with this mod. In the spirit of "I'll try it since it's super easy to", I compacted and esl flagged this and it works just fine.
The basic functions work well on the weapons manufactured after installing the mode . However, sometimes there is a problem that the remaining charge evaporates when replacing weapons through favorites.
I'm certain that the issue you're having isn't related to this mod. I don't have this installed, but I'm also experiencing the same issue -- charge randomly depletes when I equip weapons using the SkyUI hotkeys. It seems to only happen to 2-handed weapons/bows and 1-handed weapons in your offhand.

I had this problem with LE version of this mod ,well at least I know problem persists and it was a deal breaker for me to make it worse ,it didn't use black star stuff edit actually doing more research this might be vanilla bug as the post above said it
Thank you for making such wonderful mod! I currently use it on my custom followers including Inigo and Lucien, and it works perfectly well. No more swearing to carry soul gems for followers lol.
edit: Idk why but it seems the mod works on Lucien only so far.
Hi, I had downloaded this mod and it was working fine for a couple days. After that it didn't auto recharge my weapons anymore, and the Charge Threshold slider in the MCM menu now says NaN%. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!
When I played 1.580 before, I knew it was useful. Now it is 1.597, and SKSE 20.020 is used. I don't know why. There is no effect in the game. How to set it is useless.

What does break the mod is just converting to ESL , that does break the mod.
I only just stumbled across this mod while looking for a solution for this problem.
