Here's an odd conundrum: What if the vampire NPC I'm trying to edit doesn't have a Keyword section? (Which is weird, I know.) Is there a way to add one? (I've never figured out how to do that in SSEEdit, though I have tried to.)

Every NPC has a Keywords line.  You simply aren't looking in the right place...

Well, I feel very dumb, but I still can't find it. I can find the keyword section on other things, but not this NPC.

And now... doubley dumb because I wanted to post an image in a spoiler but it kept telling me "the entered data is invalid" no matter where I uploaded the image to insert. *sigh* Well, here's a link then to a compiled screenshot of everything listed in the "Non-Player Character (Actor)" data in SSEEdit for this NPC.

You likely have Hide No Conflict & Empty Rows option enabled in SSE Edit...  Trust me - every NPC has the Keywords line.  I've added the necessary data to enable Bloodthirst for NPCs countless times so I know for a fact that it's there.

I believe you. I just don't know what I'm missing. =/ Your suggestion sounds awesome, though I don't see those exact toggles. I tried unticking Hide Ignored, Hide "Never Shown," and Hide Templated Fields on Actors (so no Hide options are ticked), as well as ticking Track All EditorID and unticking Remove OFST Offset Data when that didn't work (you can tell I have no idea what I'm doing).

Looks like my SSEEdit is one version out of date. Probably won't make any difference but I'll upgrade that and see. And if not, well, I'll give up on this NPC for the time being and look at him with fresh eyes later.

Thanks for helping me even though I've probably been quite frustrating. I really appreciate it.

Right-click the right side of the SSE Edit window & deselect the aforementioned setting.  The Keywords line should appear.  Not that hard...

Since this is all about xedit compatibility....

This is how to make Better Vampires, or any other Vampire mod compatible.

Copy the BV or whatever mod's version of the sun damage spell to your compatibility patch.  This assigns BV as a master.  Manually add Bloodthirst as master.
Add BloodthirstResistDisease as last effect.  Add conditions as shown.

This is not a tutorial for Better Vampires compatibility.  I believe Better Vampires comes with its very own feeding mechanic.

Can you do this with Creation Kit?
Also, can you recommend a video that shows how to use SSEdit for the type of modifications you are recommending?
    Thanks.

It's much easier to make these edits in SSE Edit. No video is needed given my guide being in step by step format. Not that hard at all. It's merely a matter of reading each step & following the instructions provided in each step. Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Tried and Tried but couldn't find video to explain how to use SSEdit, and so just gave up.
But I did use the advice to do the same thing in CreationKit and it worked great.
      Thanks.
I found out that with more than one Vampire Follower, only one will do the biting indoors after entering.
Also, that with the mod Follower Commentary Overhaul on it would often prevent BloodThirst from working by making the follower talk right before they would begin to sneak.

Go to YouTube. Gamerpoets & Gopher both have videos on SSE Edit/Wrye Bash/LOOT/etc that explain everything you need to know in great detail.

Bloodthirst should be loaded as far down in the load order as possible for maximum compatibility. Also, make sure Bloodthirst loads below Better Vampires/Sacrosanct if either of those are installed so it takes priority.

Take that up with flexcreator, the original author...  flexcreator explained to me a long ways back that there were issues some folks were having on LE that he needed to fix before he ports Bllodthirst to SSE himself.  Of course, said "fixes" never materialized.  This tutorial explains how to successfully port Bloodthirst over to SSE format in full detail.  It's quite simple really.

Just recently came across this Mod/Post/Instruction Set and it's been a Godsend!  For years I've had a problem where Bloodthirst would work with most NPC's but not all and could never figure out how/what to change! Even recently on the original LE site  someone else had the same problem and I could point them in the right direction to fix it. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much !!!

Your load order is not correct if Bloodthirst isn't firing in your game. Either that or you didn't load Bloodthirst BELOW any vampire overhaul mod (Better Vampires/Sacrosanct/etc) in your load order...

Something isn't right with your setup. The mod works since I've employed it in my game for well over a year. Bloodthirst must load BELOW Better Vampires/and add-ons for Better Vampires for it to take effect. You obviously have a mod conflict somewhere. I use Sacrosanct since Better Vampires is extremely script-heavy...

Bloodthirst must load AFTER Better Vampires so it takes priority. The feeding is random. Make sure you have crVampireSunDamage "Weakness to Sunlight" set under Actor Effects in addition to the ActorTypeUndead & Vampire keywords under the Keywords section in SSE Edit (NPC tab).

You will need to download/install the CK from Bethesda.net & convert the plugin to Form 44 in order to use it in SSE. flexcreator will not allow ports of Bloodthirst on Skyrim SE Nexus. His reason for this is due to him working on an updated version for SSE... This is why I provided my tutorial since flexcreator will not allow anyone to port his mod over to SSE Nexus...

Nexus policy dictates proper permissions must be obtained prior to porting any mod from Skyrim LE Nexus to Skyrim SE Nexus. Failure to do so will likely result in getting banned from the Nexus for mod theft...

Porting Bloodthirst for one's own personal use is a s simple as loading the .esp into the SSE CK & resaving it. That's about as simple as it gets...

However, to get Bloodthirst to apply to any Vampire NPCs/followers in one's game requires the procedure outlined in my tutorial I posted here. Not that hard to do using SSE Edit...

Sorry for be like this but i never had done something like this, i am in ssedit and loaded skyrim and all dlcs and update, plus the unofficial patch, then searched for serana in non-player character actor in DLC dawnguard, then to the right im in "actor effects (shorted)" then see 3 lines wich looks like the skills of serana, in wich part of those i add the " crvampiresundamage "Weakness to Sunlight" " ?

Sorry i hope this comment can help ppl like me who know nothing about modding and would like to have this mod working.

Edit: i did it, i made right click in unofficial patch part and click in "add" then write the suggested in your guide, thank you i hope it works. Valerica has all the values correctly but serana dont.

The only thing that needs converted is the .esp. Everything else will work right out of the box. Save the plugin (.esp) in the SSE CK & presto, you now have a fully-converted Bloodthirst - Vampire NPCs Can Feed for Skyrim SE.

Other vampire followers are now happily chewing at my neck, but Faye does not seem to do anything.

I just stumbled across this anecdote on an old "Better Vampires" note:
"The standing feeding animation is very buggy in Skyrim itself, for example if there is any major height difference (i.e. vampire and/or victim are on stairs or slope) it simply won't play, and there is no reliable way of fixing this."
Since Faye is somewhat shorter than my player, maybe that's the cause. I'll have a tinker with this and report back.

I don't have the problems you seem to be having. My followers will sometimes sneak around too long if they happen to lock on a guard and the guard keeps walking and patrolling.
For test purposes I like going to the bards college at around 4 pm and head right in the main hall. There are plenty of standing people around, and gives a decent chance for sneaking and biting.
Also, I have the sneak stats on my followers maxed so that they will succeed better.

@oshea14: Make sure you have the PerkSkillBoosts perk added to your followers in their respective plugins... If PerkSkillBoosts isn't present, Stealth perks will not work on followers. Stupid Bethesda & their so-called "genius" design...

You mean perks? I usually add perks by console command for my followers?

No. There's a perk called PerkSkillBoosts that allows followers to utilize Stealth, Lockpicking, Alchemy, etc... Without it, said perks will not apply to followers due to how Bethesda designed the perk system...

I use Immersive Amazing Follower Tweaks SE, does this add PerkSkillBoosts, or do I need to add it another way?

No it does not. That perk must be added manually to any follower .esp using SSE Edit...

Find the Perks line & add PerkSkillBoosts to said line. Otherwise, the followerin question will not benefit from any Stealth perks/enchantments...
