Have you thought about trying to add to this... I.E. You shadow-step behind a NPC/animal/whatever and attack with daggers by pointing at the object instead of the ground.
Having to first shadow-step, then change weapons, then waiting for the game to recognize that, then attacking seems like it would be better suited with a single task.
I realize this is more of an undertaking then how the mod works now, but was still wondering if any thought was put into developing this more.
That would be cool, but is probably a lot of effort, and I think that the effect you're looking for can be pulled off with this mod anyway, but it takes a little practice. Have a look in the videos section at a little gameplay I put together? I didn't use video editing to cut out bits between casting the spell and completing the kill, the way it looks in the video is how smooth it was in game.
Hey there, I made a short video demo of your mod because I just thought it creates a pretty cool effect that reminds me of Dishonored or Shadow of war/Mordor. Maybe you can put it in the video section too? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7gUxoLVoXs&feature=youtu.be
Is there anyway I can remove the purple lightning explosion and sounds to just make it an instant silent teleport? I tried editing in SSEEdit but I need to know exactly how as I'm not quite sure how to properly execute it
This mod works only if I dual cast the spell, I tried it even on a new game with only USSEP and SKSE. Am I missing something? some hidden requirement or some conflict? I love this mod but it is not very useful for my playstyle, as I grow bored pretty easily to change weapon every time I shadow step someone...
Are you trying it in day time? The strength of the spell depends on darkness. You should try it at night or when standing in the shade. You must also target the ground or something else you can stand on.
I tried it inside a not lit dungeon and outside Markarth after midnight. If I dual cast it it works seamlessly, but if I try to use it with either hand it doesn't. I tried even manual installing, cleaning the mod, using the backup Data folder, but the player character does the animation when I launch it and nothing happens. If the mod works for everyone else than I fear the problem is on my side...
I've been looking for something like this, anybody including the author can share with me though, how stable/destabilizing this is to their game?
edit* going to give it a spin, I'll be back.
edit** At some times the spell is a bit laggy, especially outside, might be on my end though. Running around 70 mods, of which 10 or so with scripting, 60 purely graphical.
sometimes the teleportation doesn't work, + can u reduce the teleportation light or change it to more shadowic ? and without any sounds because everytime i use it i get exposed + i hope u increase the reaching distance
Teleportation won't work if the location is not accessible or too far away. You can change the maximum distance by setting the RFORShadowStepTeleportDistanceMax global variable in the console. For example: "set RFORShadowStepTeleportDistanceMax to 2000" (default is 1000).
I was wondering why this isn't showing up for my character, but then I noticed that its an illusion spell, and I'm playing a character with only 10 in illusion.
I am not trying to berate you about this but I also like the idea do make a power based version of this mod, used shadow step for 5 minutes and I am already unable to last without it. A shout or power based skill would be awesome even if they have other limitations instead of magika.
sounds awesome. recently the mod Blink Spell came out, and my first thought was "how does this work for stealth", and this clearly works as an upgrade to it. Also, you should add a video, helps with showing off how it looks in-game.
