I don't know how to make a randomizer so the stances applied to npcs are chosen at random, unfortunately. Edit: Apparently, it's the function getrandompercent. I might try to implement this, but I can't promise you it will be done soon, as I've already spent this day mostly tweaking and testing this mod, and as silly as it sounds, it's quite exhausting. But I might try one day!
I understand that everybody has priorities, and I don't mean to overburden you with suggestions. This just seemed like a cool solution, because it should even work for followers and/or allies within the aura.
Another idea is that it doesn't necessarily have to be random. It could be tied to the NPC's combat style. This would have the added bonus of making the stances make sense for the NPCs using them. Just another thought.
Ok, I definitely don't think I'm able to do it. Almost all of my stances have magic effect that apply perks to the wearer, and, for some reason, they only apply them on the wearer when said wearer is the player. Edit: Updated it to add a few stances that can be applied to followers
Update: With the release of the Spell Perk Items distributor mod, I created an ini file that give npcs some perks and spells from this mod based on their classes (archers, assassins, light armored enemies will get the "precision stance" perk, mages of all kinds can get most magic stances, etc.... )with a basic 15% chance they'll get it.
Here it is! The 3.0 version remove many buggy stances, add a new one, tweak some to nerf/empower them, and add followers-friendly stances toggle.
HUGE CAVEAT EMPTOR:toggle all stances off before updating. HUGE CAVEAT EMPTOR 2: I removed a lot of stances from leveled lists and replaced some togglable abilities with others, updating the name of the corresponding toggle power. Therefore, two things to know: There is a non-null probability that, upon updating on an existing character, you will find yourself with new powers (as the toggle power you had was changed) or still have the old stances (in which case I suggest removing them through the console.)
Hi everyone! I'm planning to revive this mod a bit. Planned changes: -Removing shattered Pillar stance.(I can't manage to make it work, so until I do....) and arcane hunger (I don't find it that useful. Notify me if you think otherwise) -tweaking the precision stance(increased critical hit chances), hunter stance (reduced damages from wounds) and spiritual incantator(duration reduced to 35% of the original instead of 40%, works additionnally instead of multiplicatively), arcane splendor stance (40% weakness to magic seems a bit too much for a meager 20% bonus to spell magnitude, so I might reduce it) -Adding new stances: -Illusionnist stance (You inflict more damages to targets affected by an illusion spell, but inflict less damages to targets that aren't.) -Martial Arcanist Stance (you inflict more physical damages, gain increased armor ratings depending on your remaining magicka, magnitude and/or duration of spells greatly reduced) I don't know when I'll have the time to update it, but stay tuned!
It would be great if this generated a buff icon in Sky UI. I'm not sure it needs a shader, but if you feel it does maybe you could use the shaders from the racial powers (Altmer Highborn, Breton Dragon Skin, Orsimer Berserker Rage, and Redguard Adrenaline Rush. Since they're in the game already, I think you can just repurpose their assets. You might also consider using the generic "*skin" buff's shader from the Alteration school of magic.
Using the alteration armor skin was already what I did for some stances. I think I will follow your advices and add different shaders when I get a moment.
That would be awesome! I am interested to see what kind of theme you come up with, especially since some of the racial powers very rarely get used (by design). They seem like a natural source to draw from.
I'm especially interested to see what effect you select for the Assassin stance. I pictured the black smoky effect from the Ebony Mail (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ebony_Mail_(Skyrim)). But the shader from any number of other spells and effects would also work.
Needs Whispering Fang Style (mentioned in passing at the start of the Dark Brotherhood questline), preferably available only to Khajiit (but not necessarily).
Hi! First of all thanks for the interest you put into my mod (you won't have to wait long for a new version to come up since I noticed the 2.0 version is filled with bugs and am correcting them as I write this). That would be a good idea for a mod that adds traits (ie perks with upsides and downsides that are chosen at the start of the game and, most importantly., can't be removed afterward, like in Fallout.). However, my main purpose with this mod and the stances I add is to change a bit the gameplay by adding these stances and allow you to experiment by making them toggleable. The main problem with the stance you propose me is that, since the downside will only shows up out of combat, and since one can switch stances at will while not in combat, they could change the stance to another one, picking up groceries, and then switch back. That's why I'm only adding combat stances. That way, if you realise the stance you chose isn't adapted to the situation, you'll have to at least finish the fight before changing. Hope you understand and sorry for the flood of text!
The problem here is that unless you're a magic-oriented build, the downside will be unsignificant. However, I will probably add a stance that makes stealth more interesting.
In truth, it could lower HP instead of Magicka. Using it in stealth situations means you're unlikely to be hit with an attack, though, so that's not a very great drawback, either. It could lower effective Stamina, but if you're sneaking and don't have an endurance mod, you don't use endurance, either.
I think for the times you get caught sneaking in a combat situation, lowering HP would be good. But the damage buff would need to be worthwhile.
How about that: You inflict less overall damages, but successfully sneak-hitting an enemy inflict him bleed damages over time. bleeding targets take extra damages from attacks.
-Balanced the Wraith form and Berserker Stance -Added Duellist, Hunter and Defender Stance, and Arcane Hunger.
Update 1.2
Added Sharpshooter and Assassin Stance.
Update 2.0: Spell tomes are now distributed across dungeon loot. Added Rain Of Arrows and Arcane splendor stances. New stance category: Ranged combat. Update 2.1: Added Shattered Pillar Stance.
Update 2.2: Added missing description for the assassin stance, added the spiritual incantator stance (yet another inspiration from Pillars Of Eternity) and re-added the spell toggle script that was somehow excluded from the bsa file
To do list: Adding cool fancy shaders for when you choose a stance (anyone knows a mod ressource that adds cool fancy shaders?). Implementing yet more stances.

It'll be interesting to try them out.

Suggested effects: +25 Stealth, +25% Sneak Attack Damage, Prices 25% Worse.
EDIT:
Tracking this.
EDIT EDIT:
Endorsed.

EDIT:
Also, thanks for entertaining this idea.
Very nice!
