Is this compatible with Skyrim Anniversary Edition (AE)? Yes. Well I'm at least 99% certain that it is. My own install is rolled back to SE 1.5.97, but there is nothing in this patch that should conflict with Skyrim AE and all of the requirements for Immersive Horses have been updated for AE.
Will you make an ESL version of the patch? NO, because for this particular patch, it would require compacting the FORM IDs. This could cause future issues with compatibility and updating that I don't want to deal with.

If you don't use LOOT for whatever reason, then here is the suggested load order.
Suggested Load Order:
Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm Hearthfires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp (optional) BSAssets.esm BSHeartland.esm BSHeartland - Meshes.esm ... Immersive Horses.esp Immersive Horses - BS Bruma Patch.esp ... A modding tool - such as Wrye Bash - is giving an error message like "missing master" for your patch. Why? Will you fix it? Plugins can be disabled when merging or creating a bashed patch, depending on the tool and settings used. Verify that all masters are installed and enabled. If so, then you could possibly be getting an error because the load order doesn't match the expected order of masters in the plugin.
Use LOOT to sort your load order.
Open SSEEdit and load the relevant plugin. (Its masters will be selected and loaded as well.)
Right-click on the name of the plugin and select Sort Masters.
Save and Exit.
Why is the opening scene broken? The carriage is getting stuck, the horse is doing wonky stuff, and I can't get through Helgen! Why did you break my game? The opening scene glitch is an infamous problem that has plagued Skyrim for over a decade. It is not caused by my patch. This patch is small and fairly simple and I'm 99.99% certain that it is not the reason the opening scene or anything else in your game is broken. Open the spoiler tag for an explanation and workaround for the opening scene glitch.

The general consensus is that having a heavily modded game (and/or a weak computer) can cause issues with the already heavily scripted opening scene. When too many scripts are trying to run at once the opening scene breaks down.
You can avoid the opening scene glitch by using Alternate Start - Live Another Life. You can still choose to play the vanilla/default start through Alternate Start, so you won't miss anything!
Simply stay in the starting cell for a while to allow all of the script-heavy mods and MCM menus to initialize - which could take several minutes on slower computers depending on how many mods you have installed. When everything is finished loading and messages have stopped popping up the game should be stabilized. Then you can save and choose the default/vanilla carriage start - or an alternate start - from the statue menu.
Now there won't be a ton of mods trying to do many different things all at the same time as the scripted opening scene. It should work correctly now. Known Issues

Nothing needs to be deleted. It's a very simple install. Either:
Install with a sufficient mod manager - such as Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex - by using the Mod Manager Download button.
Arrange this patch after Immersive Horses in the load order, so that "Horse Breeds.json" will be overwritten.
OR
If installing manually - which I don't recommend that anyone do - then Immersive Horses should be installed first.
Then extract this patch to the Skyrim Special EditionData folder.
You will automatically be prompted to replace the "Horse Breeds.json" file when you extract this patch to the Skyrim Special Edition Data folder. Allow the file "Horse Breeds.json" to replace the file that should already be there from installing Immersive Horses before this patch.
The current version is final as-is and not a beta. Though I need to do a major update to ensure that all horses in Bruma work with Immersive Horses. Currently only the Painted Horse breed is fully working. I may also create additional Immersive Horses patches for other horse mods at some point.
I had left it as beta because not all horses in Bruma are fully supported, and I was hoping to find a better way to support new horse "breeds" and stat customization than overwriting the .json file from Immersive Horses. If other mods add new horse breeds, they'll also need to modify the .json file to have that support. Which means either different horse breed patches would overwrite each other, or I'd have to create a new .json file for every combination of relevant patches, or I'd have to explain to people how to edit the file manually - which would be frustrating for both me and novice modders. AFAIK there are few mods that add new horse breeds, and nobody has mentioned having that problem, so it really wasn't the issue I thought it might become.
Installed immersive horses, realized it doesnt work with bruma. Found this patch, installed it, replaced files as explained. Now MO2 says "missing masters" "Master: Immersive Horses.esp" "Required By: Immersive Horses - BS Bruma Patch.esp" thought maybe ok well I did what was told by the description page so maybe it'll work despite this notification popping up. Loaded up skyrim and i still have no Immersive Horses function in bruma. What am I missing here?
