Back in 2018, after a cute meltdown, I suggested: "What we need now is an animation so we can pick her up and walk through Whiterun with her...." Isn't there an animator out there who could fill our empty Skyrim lives?
If any mod would make me want to get a dog, this is the one. Skyrim is not Skyrim without Buttons.
A curious thing happened, though. On a trek through the mountains, we encountered a giant on a narrow path. I knew I could run away and hoped Buttons would follow without provoking attack. No such luck. I prefer not to kill the giants, but if they hit Buttons, it's war! With Buttons' help, I killed the giant. And then Buttons seemed to be nowhere. Everywhere I looked, I couldn't find her. So, I called her, and she appeared. Lying down. Flat. Squished. The giant had fallen on her. I thought, maybe if I started walking, she'd wake up and come running after me. Instead, I had an unconscious Buttons floating along the ground behind me. It was disturbing and morbidly hilarious at the same time. I reloaded that battle and made sure that Buttons was well out of the way when I killed the giant. She is happily running behind me now.
Buttons is very, very cute! My Meeko looks like a german sheperd, so when they're together they look like a proud dog dad and his pup :D
For anyone having trouble finding Buttons because of Open cities, there's a rock outside the Jarl's house that lets you go into the "phantom" version of Riften where you'll find no one else than Buttons. Of course you can also just spawn a copy with the console, but think of the original Buttons, stuck forever in an empty city :'(
I also had trouble with Buttons doing absolutely whatever the hell she wanted and not letting me tell her to wait for me somewhere. I used AFT's "make follower" power, said yes to all the warnings, and had AFT take over her brain. It looks like it resolved my problems, at least for now.
I wanna start off by saying Button's is adorable and a great dog follower. I spent some time with Button's and was running into issues with commands.I could use his Take command just fine but nothing else wanted to work right. If I entered the dialogue with Buttons she'd become a follower without me picking anything. The wait command wouldn't work, she'd continue to follow. The Go home command wouldn't work either. Randomly while traveling Buttons would decide to just leave. I have AFT and RDO so I don't know if those have anything to do with it. It is possible I suppose.
Installed Buttons.esp and the .bsa with Mod Organizer the files are there but when I activate it and press skse with mod organizer the game doesn't load. I also tried with skyrim launcher with Data file Buttons.esp activated and the game doesn't run. Any help?
My little dog Jack died a week ago. This little puppy reminds me so much of him. From now on he will accompany me on my virtual travels. Thank you so much for sharing! <3
i think this mod might be in conflict with open cities, because buttons straight up doesnt exist despite the mod being 100% enabled. i had to spawn a copy of her with the command console
Is there any way to make him go faster...I always have to stop and wait for him to catch up....plus he is always getting stuck on things when we go cross country because he is so short... but ohhh he is so adorable that I dont want to leave him home
