IMPORTANT: This fix works for all versions of Skyrim SE and AE before v1.6.1130.
The "Creations" update (v1.6.1130 and later) introduced new changes to the menu. If you're on these versions, use SkyUI SE - Difficulty Persistence Fix instead, which includes this Flashing Savegames Fix.
Complete Widescreen Fix can be used as well, as it has both the Flashing Savegames Fix and the Difficulty Persistence Fix integrated.
This mod caused my v.1.6.1170.0 Skyrim install to crash without a log every time I hit the Esc key. (I used a binary search pattern within my installed mods to confirm it was this one specifically.) Based on the sticky post, I'll try Complete Widescreen Fix instead.
I have found the solution to the problem of crashing when clicking on Esc.
1- SSE engine fixes currently disables all mods when loaded. 2- because SkyUI is disabled. It leads to a crash. 3- To fix the issue, go to SEE Engine fixes TOML No. 9 enable achievements and set it to false. 4- This allows your mods to load correctly, thereby preventing the crash.
I will try another dedicated app for the achievements and see if it will solve the whole thing. I'll update it here as well.
Try to find the cause for the crash, then. People have been using this for years without crashes. Maybe you are missing the main SkyUI mod or installed another mod with an incompatibility.
are you using MO2? if yes try to update your MO, i was having the same issue, turns out the MO needs to be update and idk why suddenly all working perfectly. before not even my mods was installed or MCM shown. hope it helps!
means that, this mod is overwritten buy Untarnished UI which makes this mod redundant (you can just ignore this warning or simply disable this mod). this mods AFAIK only for those people without user interface overhaul. since most UI mods like NORDIC UI, Untarnished UI, and Edge UI has their own textures for jurnal menu and comes with its own fix

I can use either or, but not both together.
Posting it in case it helps someone who is having issues with ESC crashing the game.
Install the main Sky UI, still works fine. Install this mod and it crashes when pressing Esc.
Uninstall SSE engine fixes and it's fine.
