Have the same issue. Current version of SKYWATER not happy with Survival Config. Removed SKYWATER and even left the patch and all was good. Sadly I have to remove SKYWATER from my load order even on a new game. :(
Moving SKYWATER around in my load order did not help.
This is really cool - if I decided to add water as a need in my game, I will absolutely get this mod. (in my current game, not interested in adding water - but still an awesome mod!).
Any chance we could get a wineskin / water skin instead of a bottle?(yes, very low priority I know...just an immersion thing).
Thank you so much for making such a lovely water mod! Also many, many thanks for permitting its use in other projects; I have an optional version of my tea mod that requires Skywater so people can actually use water to brew their teas -- a crazy idea, I know! Seriously can't believe Bethesda never though to add water to the game...thank you for stepping up in their place. You're wonderful.
So, trying to make it clear, this supports CC survival mode but doesn't harm if you don't have it? Say, I use CACO's very basic needs, that simply simulate fatigue and hunger - no thirst. Would this mod alone add a thirst system in complement to those two?
I checked it but I don't fully understand. What I meant is that I don't use the CC survival mode. I use Frostfall and, as far as needs go, I use only CACO's very basic hunger and fatigue system. I was asking if this adds a thirst need. Regarding the patches you mentioned, there is one that "replaces hunger effects with thirst effects on the drink items" - I suppose this refers to CC Survival Mode effects? Or will it work straight with this mod because what matters is that the thirst effect gets added? That would be nice.
please make this compatible with survival configurator at https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14404 by making the drinking water from this restore thirst as well, that would be awesome
I am hoping for this too! i love the effects of survival configurators thirst but its so hard to find anything to drink with it. (my game is paused as im looking for solutions to thirst)
I uploaded a new version of Survival Configurator today that allows you to pay an innkeeper to refill your water jugs. Hopefully that will make it easier to get water to drink. The upgrade needs you to start a new game, unfortunately, so your paused game won't benefit from it.

I just downloaded this mod to check out how you set things up, and I think it would be pretty easy to make a patch. All that my thirst mechanism requires is that your ingestible drinks have one of these magic effects attached to them:
I typically set drinks of water, juice or tea to be Large, but I see you have four different ingestibles called "Drinking Water" and one called "Big Water Bottle". I'm not sure what the distinction is between them. Are they different sizes? I am about to update the patches available on my mod page, and I think I'll go ahead and make a patch for this mod. Please let me know if you can provide some clarity on the different "Drinking Water" items you have.
Edit: OK, I see they are different kinds of bottles, but they each provide a single serving of water. In my patch I'm going to set them all to use SC_RestoreThirstLarge, and remove the restore hunger effects.
This is a very welcome addition, I particularly like that obtaining water from existing water sources works without patching every bog and through throughout Tamriel. Thank you.
Please consider rewording the process though. I find distilling to be totally unrealistic unless it's supposed to be some kind of magical process. How about just boiling or double boiling water at the cooking station? Boiled water is sterile and should be good enough. Distilling water requires more than twice the energy it takes for alcohol (both for heating to evaporate and for cooling to condensate), and the equipment to do this in realistic times and quantities for drinks is potentially bulky and heavy. Nothing really fitting a survival tramp. Alembics or retorts would bring you nowhere (too small throughput, voluminous and sensitive glassware).
