I walk into Candlehearth Hall looking for Rolff, my good buddy. He's upstairs. I try and talk to him and he keeps walking away from me while calling me a "filthy piece of trash" and to "get out of his city" (didn't realize he owned Windhelm, but okay). I follow him downstairs and pick a fight with him.
Beat his a$$.
He starts crying saying it wasn't fair. So I keep punching him. And punching him. And punching him some more.
He finally has enough and runs out of the inn. I follow.
Get outside and he pulls a knife on me and starts cutting me. He's barely doing any damage...the weak, pathetic manlet that he is. So I keep punching him in the face...
...and well, things got out of control and I punched him so hard, I hear a bone crack. But, I didn't gaf. I suplex'd his $hit and cracked his skull open on the cold hard pavement (is it pavement? Stone, maybe).
lol he ded.
But the guards...
The guards saw what happened and didn't like it. So I guess the mod worked, but didn't. I was able to kill him, but there was still a bounty and the guards were on me all of a sudden. Like half the city guard got aggro'd...wtflmao.
So I did what any god-like entity would do. I FUS RO DAH'ed the entire f**king herd of them, unsheathed my blades, and went ham. One of the guards I couldn't kill for some reason. That guy literally chased me from Windhelm all the way to Fort Amol and then I said screw it. I'll pay the lousy $6k fine.
Get sent back to Windhelm. Only 1 guard left. It was the unkillable one. Walks up to me and gives me the Blood on the Ice quest and walks away like nothing ever happened. I walk out of the city a free man.
Rolff was still dead outside Candlehearth. No one wanted to take out the trash.
Just realized this mod doesn't remove the bounty. Sorry about that. There's like 3 or 4 mods on the Nexus that let you kill Buddy Rolff and I thought I got the one that took the bounty out.
Still endorsed and still going to use it. Was way too fun doing it in front of the guards and starting a war inside the city lol.
As for the bounty, well, it's Windhelm. Why would the guards look away when you murder an upstanding citizen like Rolff in cold blood? He's only speaking good old Windhelm truth. ;-)
For so long I've had to amuse myself by using the Kill console command on Rolff Racist-Face, because even if he wouldn't die, I enjoyed watching him crawling around like the gutter scum he is. Now I can actually kill him properly! So happy! Gonna pile his and Angrenor's corpses in the graveyard and pretend Windhelm Butcher did it...
Oh hell yes. I've been meaning to murder this dude, and I had no idea he was essential. No Sovngarde for you, Rolf, I'm putting your soul into some shoes and then I'm going to sell those shoes.
The soul works like a battery when you enchant an item the motion of the soul passing from the gem into the cairn powers the enchantment. Joking aside, I beleive you're trading the soul for the chosen enchantment to be imbued into the object.

Let me tell you what happened.

10/10 would kill Rolff again.
Endorsed.

And yes, I am not a lore nerd, but my understanding, too, is that soul trapped people end up in the Soul Cairn.
