I am glad that so many people have found enjoyment in a classic mod that I had to love from afar until I learned to port mods. I am grateful to Brokunn for his kind permission allowing me to share the port with SSE Community. UPDATED VERSION has ESP flagged as ESL.

MANUAL DOWNLOADS - I always download all of the mods I use manually, but not for manual installation. I place all downloads into a Mod Archive on a local drive. I still use MO2 to install these mods. Manual downloading works just fine. Manual installations are not encouraged or supported - you're on your own brothers and sisters.

NMM is *NOT* supported by Nexus, is no longer being updated, and has many problems. While I respect you may choose to continue to use NMM, I do not recommend or support users who continue to use it - seriously, update to and use MO2 or Vortex. For those who insist, I recommend reading the comments as some people managed to get it working, but please do not post comments saying you can't get it working or it does not work with manual download. Manual downloading works fine (see above), installs without any issue on MO2 & Vortex, and the mod functions just fine when properly installed using them.

ARCHIVE FILE & SYSTEM - I used one of the most recent versions of WRAR. If you use an older version or an other archive-zip system, I believe it works fine provided you have a legit copy and recent version (2018+). WRAR, despite what it says, is free.

TEXTURE FILE FOLDER - I am not the original author though I did extract and port this mod in an appropriate fashion. I believe that the original mod has an empty texture folder as a part of the original mod (and, feel free to go to OLDRIM final version, download it, and extract it yourself if you want to confirm). It should be noted that numerous people run this ported mod with no issue including myself. My best guess is, that the folder serves to hold the texture style you choose in your play through (e.g., lightning, purple haze, shadow, etc.,) and, therefore, is a temporary place to store the textures based on what you choose... but, again, I did not create the mod, this is my guess, and it works fine as ported.

FRIENDLY FINAL NOTE - I am not intending to be harsh just succinct in covering issues people have mentioned in the comments and prevent posts about things are not common issues or result from people using outdated and unsupported software (i.e., NMM).

CREDIT: Brokunn (please and always credit him as the creator... I just ported it and shared with his kind permission).

I had this mod years ago and it worked fine, but now it doesn't work at all.

Installed with Vortex without any issue.

So sweet that the option for spawning a mount for my follower doesn't need the additional mod mentioned in the original mod's description.

Also nice that I can pick a different look for the two horses.

Edit: This mod produces a second mount for the follower, but I still need another mod to get my follower to ride it.

Edit 2: Nether's Follower Framework has a setting to support my follower riding this mod's conjured follower horse (there are probably others, but NFF is the first one I tried, since it was just updated yesterday)

Nether's Follower Framework is a great, lite-weight mod for follower support. I have not had a chance to use it in serious play through, but it's in my next massive mod list play through and I am super glad to know that you have had success as it makes the option for a second horse useful for those who are not soloing the game. I am glad my port is finding use for a lot of others.

Hi! Thanks for the port, great mod, great idea!

I have not been able to use it with Serana. I'm using both, Brokunn's mod and NFF. I have imported Serana as a NFF's follower already, but she won't ride the conjured follower's horse. I know Serana has it's own AI system, but that is covered by NFF... any ideas?

Hello, do you suppose there is any way for me to edit the Horse Actor in SSEdit to lower their audio volume? As in, sometimes, whenever I tried jumping off a small hill, or even jumping from one end to another, the horse tends to make a loud noise, I’m wondering if there’s anyway to tone that down?

Looks like a great mod - will it work with other horse mesh/texture mods? I use realistic horse breeds and was wondering if that will apply to the spectral horse?

I have used it with "Realistic Horse Breeds by KrittaKitty" without issue.

When I get a chance, I am going to upload a new beta version for testing adding version with - .esp flagged as .esl - which will eliminate the esp cost (effectively 0 esp). I am swamped at work though when I upload please feel free to give it a whirl and let me know the results - my play tests demonstrate no issues so far. DO REMEMBER compressed files will require a NEW GAME. It will break old saved games. If you want to attempt to uninstall and reinstall new version on old save, do so at your own risk and back-up old mod and final save before testing... then you might try, and I cannot promise it will work, though one solution might be (1) Load Game Get Ride Of All Horses (Unsummon), (2) Save That Game & Exit SSE, (3) Uninstall Mod, (4) Restart & Load Save Game You Just Made, (5) Save Game & Exit SSE, (6) Install New Version, (7) Use Last Save Game w/Old Mod Version Removed & See Whether You Can Use... No Promises Just What I Would, But Have Not Tried.

Again, I will test a little more and upload beta when I can.

im glad i read the comments because i couldnt figure out why it wasnt working. nmm doesnt work at all for some reason, but installing manually DOES work for anyone one else having issue. just make sure you activate the data file in game before you try to use it.

First, I am glad that you were able to figure out how to get it to work for you via NMM. I respect your freedom to chose NMM, but I cannot stress how important it is for anyone new to modding... NMM is old with many problems and has been abandon by Nexus for Vortex. Personally, I use MO2 (not MO which has no support for 64-Bit Games) as it remains the absolute best Mod Organizer for SSE (IMHO). It is not very hard to use and Gopher, of whom I am a big fan, as an exception short YouTube Series which should get anyone wanting to use MO2 (or to a lesser degree Vortex). Current MO2 included a request I have long made for separators as I do mass mod lists and being able to add separators with titles and colors is a critical addition.

Gopher, GamerPoets, and DirtyWeasal have phenomenal instructional videos.

Sorry for off-topic, but did you make the map for whiterun yourself? Is that a mod?

I used a picture from the original authors page... so, I do not really know how it was generated, though you might google maps of White Run and see what comes up.

      QUICK RESPONSE:

I really do not want to provide instructions because I do not intend to support manual installations (and/or the nightmare of uninstalling files). I have included the option to download manually so people can add it to archive-library (not to encourage or support manual installations). I will simply say that there is a reason people *** DO NOT *** recommend manual installation of mods. I urge you to listen to Vortex Introduction Video (by Gopher) which is linked below.

NMM vs VORTEX vs MOD ORGANIZER

NMM: I do not recommend using NMM as it is no longer being updated and has a fair amount of functional problems (as you can see).

VORTEX: Although it is still under development, I believe it works pretty well and I recommend this for NEW USERS. Gopher Video Series is a great way to get you up-and-running pretty fast. If you want easier and fairly user friendly Mod Organizer, use VORTEX.

MO2 (Mod Organizer 2): While it is regarded as one of the most comprehensive and serious of the mod organizers, I have to say that, if you stick with the basics (see basic tutorials), it is really not that hard to use... with just a bit more effort. Personally, I will probably never switch to Vortex *unless* their Advanced User toggle includes 95-100% of the features from MO2. At this junction, I wonder whether that will happen.

NMM doesn't work properly with this mod and so manual installation is recommended.

I was debating not going through with my plan of eliminating the Dark Brotherhood (in all previous playthroughs I chose to join them) and get Shadowmere. Now I don't have to worry! SO USEFUL.
