This is a very nice vanilla+ mod. I love the new store and the blacksmith with all the details... finally a store that really looks like a store; where you really like to look around... and here I have the first small issue, The trader doesn't really sell all the stuff that is on display (but that's very easy to fix).
And a second not so small issue: Many low value things (even in the store) can be taken. I think this should also be fixed. It's kind of unimmersive... ;)

I'm noticing Sanders and Sandford teleport to Riverwood through their door... I don't have any other Morthal mods. Has anyone else encountered this?

Very nice. Only issue I'm having so far is that some of the chimneys in Morthal seem to have no textures. No big deal. I'll either dig into XEdit and see if it's a pathing issue, or disable these chimneys and use the ones from Farmhouse Chimneys. (Or maybe a mod conflict...)

The original file is gone :(

As such, this is presumably defunct (original file is listed as requirement)?

In the compatible sticky, it says that the original is incompatible with this mod, implying that it was never needed as a master, just an easy way to link back to the original mod. Of course, I haven't used this mod, so I can't tell you with 100% certainty.

Edit: Following the link in the description to the original mod has a note that says that people should look at mnikjom's version instead, so yeah, this mod will be just fine on its own :)

"The Jarl is among the most relaxed in Skyrim when it comes to taxation, and as such Hjaalmarch is also the poorest of the nine Holds."

So the absence of legal corruption (principle of racketeering) is a main cause of a poor town? Very interesting thesis.
What do you mean with "Hjaalmarch", when you have to mean someone who are able to own money (to be rich or poor in this case),
but you can not seriously mean the citizens?

I'n not really sure what you mean. The short bio of the town and hold are largely taken from wikis appertaining to the game and lore.
"The Jarl is among the most relaxed in Skyrim when it comes to taxation, and as such Hjaalmarch is also the poorest of the nine Holds."
This passage is pretty close to the wikis, but the "as such" should be removed, if that helps clarify the matter. It isn't the creator's thesis, it's an almost verbatim lore quote.

I'm terribly sorry, i don't really know what you're asking with your second question.

Ok it's just the lore you copied. Thats fine. The creator of that text may just didn't understood the banking economy of the real life and did a mistake.

The second question was for the creator of that text to disclosure the contradictions.
"Hjaalmarch" can only be named "poor" when there live poor people, so in the end the people are meaned.
But the people can not be poor if the taxes (racketeering) are low. Rule and logic of free economy.

I would imagine it means that because taxes are low, there isn't any money to invest into the town.

...and let the citizens decide themself what they want to do with their money.

Automatically there would be less a need for investments regarding prosperity.
They would not lose the prosperity in form of the taxes in first instance.
Additionally there would be less a risk for any selfish use of taxes on the part of the jarl.
That is a pretty common political circumstance in real life btw.
The citizens watch for the infrastructure for themselfes because everyone want to be able to trade and buy the things they need.
No taxes are need for anything.

Maybe it means taxes are low because the hold is generally poor.

Maybe. It's not like a fact in that sentence.
      But to be clear...
Taxes are the main cause of poverty all over the world.
They are nothing else than racketeering, ordered through lobbyism by the big banking system.

Less taxes means you have less money to pay for guards, infrastructure, etc. Morthal doesn't even have fucking walls.

And there are a lot of dangers in Skyrim. I imagine lack of security may be one of the reasons for their poor situation.

      Simply no.

If the politicans doesn't receive taxes anymore, they will indeed have less money for that.
But all the citizens that keep their money will have a lot more budget to pay for security and infrastructure themselves.
And they have a guaranteed personal interest to pay for things that improves their lives.

For example the citizens need infrastructure for their jobs and they will find someone who manage that.
The difference is that the mentioned manager can be fired immediately if he does anything opportunistic.
Because of the fact that you can be fired immediately, a better manager will not be far away.

And no one is dependent on the goodness of politicians who COULD be fired ONCE EVERY FOUR YEARS and often have a tendency to handle money irresponsibly and keep it in their own pockets!

You forget, this is Sky mother fking rim, the place where you dead the second you misstep in the wild life, the place where the law is uphold by whoever want to uphold the law, and the place where either you are weak, and you live under the jarl, listen to him and believe in a greater future if there is any, or you go out on your own to another fking city. So why is the city poor ? The rich will simply move to better cities, while the poor or the weak willed remains. You dont change a jarl, you dont change a manager, you dont exactly get "civillian opinion" on the goverment because who the fk decides that ? Solitude.

What you describe is kind of a devil's circle. Your suggested solution will  never change such absurdity.
People have to see the causal backgrounds of preferably all problems to break such circles.
For example poverty is not caused by too little septims, but by the wrong handling of them. - And politicians naturally handle them wrong.
You can see that in real life...
Every supermarket has extremely much to offer, but here in germany many of us (including me) doesn't have enough money to buy food,
and at some point a supermarket has to throw away a lot.
A basic rule of market goes like: "The worth of currencies is determined by the availability of goods". It's simple logic.
We see an odd reality because of the wrong handling of the existing money by the politicans, like I mentioned.
Nevertheless the politicans are not the main cause.
We the people give them the power and give them our own responsibility, which they naturally cannot deal with.
But to stay on topic, rejecting taxes and understanding the wasteful nature of taxes is one part of the solution.
So low taxes are much more part of a solution then a cause of poverty!
BTW, by the use of a donation system, there could be some LEGAL ways to bypass taxes...

Legal corruption lol. Taxation and 'faith' are the only things that give these coins, bits of paper and numbers in computer accounts any value at all. Right wing libertarians are wrong.

Indeed. Faith is the only thing that give our money a value. There is no other rationality in these mass produced papers from banks.
There is no gold coverage or anything similar for all the currencies.
So all the people who gives money a value are doing that because of an illusion.
That means the hole world is an illusion and we need to understand what that means.
We the people never elect the bank owners but they handle the money the hole world needs.

How in the name of Talos did the Morthal Overhaul comments thread turn into a discussion of the economics of taxation..? And why?!

If you play with "Immersive College of Winterhold" then there will be a floating platform in the air on the eastern side of the river. It's suppose to be on a little island which is removed by this mod. It doesn't seem to cause any problems but it looks weird.

Late but for anyone who has this issue I simply went into the ck to move the platform.
Here is a very helpful video I found for quick instructions on how to move objects.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGELHqdag7c

To find the platform simply go to cell view and find the cell the object is in (in this case it is morthalexterior03 under tamriel, refer to sseedit to find it quickly)
then scroll in, click and highlight the whole platform to highlight all objects having to do with the platform and click on the arrows to move the object over to where you want. Note that one of the objects will not move in the place you moved it in the creation kit until you start a new game (If I remember it is the winterhold symbol nif).

This looks fantastic, but presumably isn't compatible with Interesting NPCs? INPCs adds a blacksmith, and it looks like this mod adds a new building in the exact same place. Anyone here tried them together?

Does anyone know if this is CFTO compatible, or if there's a patch?

I looked a while and didn't find anything. Sorry in advance if I overlooked something obvious! :)
