The Savior's Hide was a pretty disappointing artifact to get a hold of in Skyrim, following a trend set since its first appearance in a numbered Elder Scrolls game. It was the very best piece of Light Armor in Morrowind, with an armor rating matching Daedric and an incredible enchantment to boot. In Oblivion, its stock had fallen, being slightly worse than Glass, but still having a neat enchantment and some style points. Finally, in Skyrim, it has been reduced to a purely early-game item, with an armor rating exceeded even by Elven gear, and an enchantment that, while unique, is hardly worth sacrificing a better armor rating for. This is without even going into detail on its status as a necessity in the story of Battlespire.
This mod makes the following changes to the Savior's Hide:
Armor rating increased to 40 (2 ahead of Glass and 1 behind Dragonscale)
Resist Magic effect buffed from 15% to 25%
Resist Poison effect buffed from 50% to 75%
Resist Shock 30% added
Tempering at a workbench now only requires Leather
The reasoning for these buffs were to make its strength more akin to its appearances earlier in the series. The Resist Shock effect was added due to pieces of lore and gameplay information from both Battlespire and Morrowind, stating that "The Armor of the Savior's Hide may safeguard you against the sting of the Spear of Bitter Mercy", with Morrowind showing us that the Spear of Bitter Mercy has the power to summon a Storm Atronach and with Battlespire referring to the Spear as "Lightning in the hand". The Resist Poison enchantment was retained due to Poison appearing on Hircine's Spear of the Hunter in Bloodmoon, and for generally seeming thematically appropriate. I changed the armor material from Ebony to Leather as it made more sense to me, and I figured that the Arcane Blacksmith perk acts as a gatekeeper from upgrading it too easily anyway.
As with my Lore Friendly Ebony Mail mod, this buffs an item to end-game strength while allowing it to be obtained at a lower level. I'd recommend some self-restraint in pursuing it, or using Timing is Everything SE to delay the quest appearing until Level 35-40. Furthermore, I highly recommend Amidianborn's wonderful Hide of the Savior retexture.
