    Updating these instructions for 5.3.3+:

    BASE REQUIREMENTS: This is an SKSE64 plugin. Therefore, you need to have the correct version of SKSE64 installed to use this mod. If you are playing the Special Edition (1.5.x), you will need the latest SE version of SKSE64.  If you are playing the Anniversary Edition (1.6.x), you will need the latest preliminary AE build of SKSE64.  If you don't have SKSE64 installed or don't know what SKSE64 is, STOP.   DO NOT attempt to install this mod until you know what the hell you are doing. Go learn what SKSE64 is and why you might want it here. Recent installation instructions video here. Come back once you are better educated and have SKSE64 properly installed.

    (1) RECOMMENDED: Completely remove all files and uninstall any previous installations of SSE Engine Fixes prior to starting.

    (2) DO a fresh download, install and enable/deploy of the required all-in-one Address Library for SKSE Plugins with your mod manager.  You will need to install the latest Special Edition (1.5.x) OR Anniversary Edition (1.6.x) version of the Address Library depending on which version of the game you are playing. If you're getting error 1114 or 617, it's probably because you don't have the Address Library installed or properly enabled.

    (3) DO download and install the latest x64 version of the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 (on the linked page, it's the download that reads x64: vc_redist.x64.exe). Install it even if you think you already have it installed. Yes, it's a Windows install. Double click the downloaded file, follow the prompts, and yes you'll need to reboot. If you're getting error 126, it's probably because you don't have the C++ Redistributable installed.

    (4) DO a fresh download, install and enable of Part 1 of SSE Engine Fixes with your mod manager. You will need to install the latest Special Edition (1.5.x) OR Anniversary Edition (1.6.x) version of Part 1 depending on which version of the game you are playing. EngineFixes.ini has been replaced with EngineFixes.toml in 5.3.3+. Open the UTF-8 encoded .toml file in Notepad to make your setting changes. You can delete the old EngineFixes.ini.

    (5) DO NOT install Part 2 of SSE Engine Fixes with your mod manager. Instead, download it manually and EXTRACT the Part 2 zip, then copy and paste the 3 dll files from there directly into /steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition/. DO NOT simply place the zip file in that directory. DO NOT create a folder with the 3 files in that directory. DO NOT place the extracted files in your /Data directory. Part 2 is compatible with both the Special and Anniversary editions of the game. 
    OPTIONAL: If you are using Vortex, you can download and install Part 2 using the Mod Manager Download, but before deploying, double click the item in Vortex and change the Mod Type to Engine Injector. Then enable/deploy Part 2.

    DO NOT RENAME your skse64 executables. If you have already done so, you will need to CHANGE THE FILE NAMES BACK to the original skse executable names. That means skse64_loader.exe and SkryimSE.exe. Skyrim.exe and adding an INI, as several obsolete guides tell you to do to get skse launching from Steam, WILL NOT WORK. SSE Engine Fixes needs the original skse64_loader.exe and SkyrimSE.exe file names and files.

    If you want to launch from Steam, add skse64_loader.exe as a Non-Steam Game. If Steam is open you can also launch skse64_loader.exe from a shortcut or from the mod manager and still get achievements in your Steam SSE Library and the overlay. The original Steam SSE page will always execute the standard launcher, but you can still see your achievements and screenshots there if you launch via skse64 using one of these other methods.

    If you are getting Error 193, you are running an Oldrim plugin and need to uninstall it and find the SE version.

    If you want to verify that Engine Fixes is running ok, open your d3dx9_42.log in your SSE game folder. It should look something like below when Engine Fixes is running properly. Don't worry about the line reading "failed to search dll plugin directory" - this just means you don't have other plugins that use the \Data\DLLPlugins directory installed.

    One thing that I saw its still happening , with Achievements set to True  every time you use racemenu in game to fix something or change in your character you have to make a total new save it doesn't save in the current game play you have so you go back to save one like you're starting a new game , if you set Achievements to false this doesn't happen !

      Use the mod "a change of face" instead of racemenu. This adds a book to your inventory that allows you to change everything like in racemenu without it creating a new save

      Yes, but be advised, it doesn't seem like it works at the moment; the 6.2 download erroneously has the version 6.1.1 DLL in it (or its version header wasn't changed), so you'll get version mismatch errors from the plugin preloader.

      EDIT: Turns out this was my goof, you need the Part 2 download and those files installed to your root Skyrim directory, I had derped and installed them to the SKSE plugins folder.

      There's a modified file here for if you're on the latest version.
      Edit: is just a preconfigured settings file; you still need the latest Engine fixes version from here for it to do anything

    I followed the instructions for the setup, but I still get the trampoline.h(187) enginefixes.dll error once running the game with the current (6.2) version of engine fixes (playing AE 1170).

    Now trying to run part1 6.11 version for testing reasons, I manage to launch the game, but I always get my plugins deactivated so I can't load any save succesfully.

    I can provide any further information, pls help me figure out what could be wrong about my setup.

    edit:
    1) I have the correct C++ redistributables installed
    2) I'm not using OneDrive, my documents files are place in /username/documents
    3) I don't have any special characters in my system user name
    4) i'm running MO2 and skse_loader as admin
    5) I deleted the SKSE log's folder, doesn't help
    6) moving the steam library to non-program files (x86) folder doesn't help too
    7) fresh installation of skyrim doesn't help as well
    8) after disabling part1 of SSE Engine fixes eveything works fine, so it appears to be problem with that particular mod only (?)

      Try to delete the entire Skyrim Special Edition folder in \Documents\my games. I did a fresh install as you, but i forgot to delete that folder, so launching skse64 always returned trampoline.h(187) error.  Now the game starts as it should.

      Unfortunately it doesn't help either, I have the same error having the folder deleted before launching the game :(

      I tried to remove old redistributables given they'd interfere with the newer ones, but it still doesn't help

      Running MO2 and SKSE as admin is NOT advised, based on everything I've read.

      Is that d3dx9_42 log from before you moved your steam library out of program files?  Does it give the same error after you've done so?

      After reinstalling/relocating everything, have you run the vanilla Skyrim launcher once to regenerate your ini files?

    Is there a reason that, after adding this mod, I can't access any of my mods? Followed the instructions to the letter, but it's not detecting any of my mods whatsoever. Is there something extra that I would need to fix in order to have it work? Very tempted to delete MO2 and start over.

      Have you tried running the vanilla Skyrim launcher to regenerate your ini files?

      A 07E error indicates Part 2 was not installed correctly. See the sticky up top.

    Am I correct in assumption that V5.9.1, V6.1.1 and V6.2 are functionally identical, with changelog for V6.1.1 applicable to all 3 or there are more differences? Yes, I know they are for different game versions, trying to not wreck my setup with an update here.

    For some reason, when I download Part 1 Version 6.2 either manually or using Vortex, it downloads/installs the files with version 6.1.1. Anyone else having this issue? I need 6.2 but downloading V6.2 gives me the 6.1.1 files for some reason?

      I have the same issue. I think the author mistakenly packaged 6.1.1 in the 1170 download instead of 6.2, or the version header wasn't changed so the plugin preloader freaks out.

      Here too, the DLL from v6.2 is a 6.1.1 file version.

      It is 6.2.  You can prove it by not setting the values for 6.1.1 to false like you had to before.  But, it does say 6.1.1 in the file properties of the .dll itself.

      Check your game version number in SkyrimSE.exe properties > Details tab, then make sure EF Part 1 is for that version.

      I have the correct one but still it says that error.

      Edit: Apparently the error only happens when I start it with together reborn mod. Any fixes for that?

      Is there a solution to this or do we all have to wait for an update? I am using version 6.2 with 1.6.1170.

      I have one mod (The New Gentleman) that, according to the Mod Author, doesn't work because of Engine Fixes. There might be more, But I haven't finished setting up my modlist.

      "This is not a problem with TNG, do not report it as a bug! Thanks to Vaas59 (the first one who made the report and also very well explained the issue together with their log from TNG) the issue has to do with SSE Engine Fixes and the latest release of Skyrim on Steam. Make sure to update SSE Engine Fixes for your game version."

      It is quite interesting what they figured out during their investigations on the bug named 'Compatibility Issue with SSE Engine Fixes' and how this mod affected their mod.

    yo. i have a bit of an issue on my end where when i have this mod enabled, some of the mods just dont work. one of them for example is the alternate start, live another life mod. when i have the part one of this mod enabled, the alternate start mod does not seem to work. but when i desable it, it works just fine. i have tried seamingly everything in regards to solving this issue. even going so far as to fiddle with the .toml file. is there any way to help fix this issue on my end, or am i going to need to wait for an update.

    for context. this has been happening ever since i decided to buy the anniversary dlc so i could play with the ae version of ineed

    Hello, I recently Re-Installed Skyrim [AE version] since the very latest update.  I installed most if not all the mods I had originally, that had been updated for the NEWEST version of AE.  This one however, when I have it activated on my mod-list, ALL of my saves, during gameplay give me a "SaveGame Corrupt" and can not be loaded error.  If I quit the game to desktop and load in, they all work fine, but this doesn't help with autosaves, and quicksaves,  This became apparent to me when I died and my latest quicksave could NOT be loaded.  I read through a ton of forums and comments, made as many as the suggested changes to the TOML file, including the savegame [8192] value, and this still keeps happening.  When I disable this mod, SSE Engine Fixes and delete the .dll file.  The saves all work fine, auto saves, quicksaves, everything. 

    If anyone has any information on this, I would greatly appreciate that.  I currently don't have any mods installed that are dependent on this one, as none of them have been updated yet.  But everyone Highly recommends having this installed.

      +1 exactly the same for me as well. Usually it takes 10-30 min for the save to become "Falsely corrupt" i have spent the better part of 2/3 days trying everything to fix this and the only thing I can seem to change is how long it takes before it happens. E.g. I disable 30+ mods and it now takes 30min to have the error instead of 10. tried to clean the saves and all that still the same. Hoping we can get an answer.

      Only thing that I could see that didnt match up was the d3dx9_42.log 

      Mine says :

      Yes, but be advised, it doesn't seem like it works at the moment; the 6.2 download erroneously has the version 6.1.1 DLL in it (or its version header wasn't changed), so you'll get version mismatch errors from the plugin preloader.
