Thx for the coments, tbh i didn't expected much from this mod, is something found neat only because having a spell removed when you need it was kind of a challenge i wanted for my next playthrough. Btw an ingame week means 8h of gameplay (504 mins to be exact). Nevertheless reading some of the comments (specialy yours sliantro, i had a laugh) i think i can make a new one and create a new mechanic similar to the wizards of DnD, i'll think about it and see if i can do something like that.
Cheers, and thx for the feedback, this community is awesome! :D
Hi! Did you get around to update this mod? This is a very fascinating concept. Having a MCM to configure how long before we forget a spell is great. A reminder on the MCM page about when was the last time we use the spell could be useful as well.
I think this mod can do well alongside mods that allow us to create custom staves. IMHO staves in Elder Scrolls are like books in Final Fantasy.
I love the idea of this but don't think I could stand having most of my spells be routinely forgotten.
However, if there was some sort of in-game way to counter this, like a D&D style spellbook item that you could re-learn your spells from, or an artifact of Shalidor, or just having spellbooks not destroy themselves, so that you can keep them on hand to re-read later, I would totally add this to my playthrough.
YES. Forget every spell, every day, and stick an MCM in to let us pick our spell loadout based on magicka. Also get a number of spellbooks based on the MCM config, and forget each spell on cast. Boom, instant DnD wizard. Whoops, did every single Nexus user just endorse you? And thousands of people created Nexus accounts just to endorse you? And are you on the hot files forever and ever? Yes. YES.
Ordinator has the Vancian perks that allow you to only cast a specific number of spells per rest. Works somewhat like what you are describing.
Also this mod, combined with Vancian perks, and then Better Spell Learning (which keeps the books from being destroyed iirc) would create the system you want.
There is the mod "Immersive Spell Tomes" where spell tomes aren't destroyed after reading, so you could keep them on hand in the event you forget a spell.
This is a really brilliant idea! Though it's having a weird interaction as not even a few hours will pass before my character will forget a spell, even if I'd cast it that day. I think this may be because I have a mod which modifies my game's timescale. Still, I love this mod's concept and it works incredibly well with something like Immersive Spell Learning or another mod which doesn't remove spell tomes when you use them.
If you return to this mod an MCM would be greatly appreciated as well to modify details of the mod. Thank you for making this!
Id probably make it so that spell tomes are no longer consumed when read, and also have a realistic weight. That way, spells are forgotten, but can be re-read again (with a condition for not in combat, and reading one passes one hour of game time), but taking a big stack of spell tomes with you isnt viable due to the increased weight.
love the idea, but i agree with the comments on maybe having an mcm or something to tweak it or give us the ability to use a power or something so we can permanently remember specific spells
A good change might be to change how levels of magic are forgotten.
I think a good idea would be to make Master/Novice spells unforgettable, as you're very unlikely to forget the core fundamentals (just as you wouldn't forget how to do basic addition/subtraction) and unlikely to forget what is likely going to be one of your greatest accomplishments once learned. I could see more mundane things such as firebolt being forgettable without use though.

Either way though, cool mod, I like it.
