Today I discovered that my Vive Pro microphone has no volume adjustment in the Windows sound control panel, only gain adjustment, and the gain is set to the maximum 40dB.

Set it to the minimum value of 20dB and the microphone still works well, but the mismatches / random equiping seem to be reduced. After the setting, I can see that the microphone volume has been set to 0 in the SteamVR system panel. So the microphone volume adjustment function provided by SteamVR actually adjusts the Vive Pro's microphone gain. And the volume 0 is still a very large value (20dB).

If you are also suffering from mismatches / random equiping, you can also try to reduce the microphone volume or gain. Or the simplest solution is to set the microphone volume as low as possible directly in the SteamVR system panel (but do not display the mute icon).

Or you can try an active noise cancellation software, such as RTX voice. Set the microphone of your VR headset as the input device of RTX Voice, then set RTX voice virtual microphone as the default microphone (in Windows audio panel) to make DSN use it.

RTX Voice can be used on any computer with NVIDIA GTX/RTX GPU (note that it is not NVIDIA Broadcast, only RTX GPU can use it. And GTX GPU can only use the separated RTX Voice software).

However, if you have an RTX GPU, NVIDIA Broadcast is recommended, it works better than RTX Voice software.
