I don't know if anyone can help me understand this, but I have a sort of bug with the lighting when inside the home.
When I'm standing on the top floor, everything is darker than normal. When I jump or stand on the table, everything is brighter and looks more appropriate to the lighting in the room. Everything downstairs looks normal.
I use the Lux mod and have tried reinstalling to fix the problem but no luck.
You prob wont read this, but was wondering if its possible to keep the original in the secluded location in the mountain while having a copy in winterhold. I think both would be great.
Hi wetblue. Like you, I would like to have both locations available so they are installed in my game right now. There is a map marker for each location but I have only visited the Winterhold location so far. My character is in Winterhold right now trying to get into the Mages College. I wanted a house that would not conflict with The Great City of Winterhold and this one does not.
Because I have not discovered it yet, I can't fast travel to the original Winter Cove location. But next time I play, I will travel there and let you know how well both locations are working together.
The Winter Cove teleportation spell could be a problem if it teleports the player to the interior of the house since both houses have the same interior. Which exterior will you walk out into? I will test that, too.
EDIT: Went to Winter Cove original location this morning with no problem. Another post here refers to the need for a 'No Snow Under The Roof' patch which would deal with some oddities with snow piles around the house. It is a little tricky to get to this house because it is so close to the border gate. On foot it is not too bad, but a horse struggles a bit. Briefly checked inside the house. Everything looks OK. Did not find a spell tome for teleporting back to this house. Did use teleportation to the Winterhold location and it worked. I would prefer teleportation to the exterior front door rather than inside when using horses. Maybe horses can't go into interiors, but I would like to have it there when going outside like normal fast travel.
Loved the new location. But the containers are not safe in your mod, at least in the without gs version. :\
Edit: I see, the house is not set ownership to the player. That makes some containers safe, many others dont. Edit2: Holy cow, the problem is the original mod. Just noticed the mod author probably forgot to set some containers as safe and to set ownership to the player faction.
Since that mod author is not modding anymore, would someone be able to fix it? Thanks
My understanding as long as the respawn on containers is not checked they should be safe. But, when I update next will add ownership. Just, may be awhile currently working on My Hearthfire exterior overhaul mod.
There is a corrupted texture inside the Winter Cove mod (it's the overlay used on the Enchanting Table). There is a mod made to replace it, as it has been causing CTD's in other mods, as well.
Still just the best, most functional, and most glorious player house in the entire game.
If anyone sees this, I'm a noob to all of this, but I love this mod so much that I'd like to make it my primary residence in all playthroughs. If there is anyone willing to point me toward how I can learn to modify mods like this, I'd like to experiment with turning it into a viable family home (turn follower rooms into children-compatible rooms and code the bed properly for a spouse).
I have no idea how to do any of that, but I'm pretty willing to learn if someone could advise me how to get started. TIA.
I like it, too Meriweather. I have not been to this page in a long time, so I apologize for the late response.
There are a lot of tutorials on the Internet regarding how to use Creation Kit. If you search for player home tutorials you are sure to find information you can use. Darkfox127 has a lot of CK tutorials on YouTube. You could start there.
If do make a family style home mod based on this one, please let me know. I would like to include it in my load order.
I have a CTD upon entering the house the first time. My machine is a monster and I updated Papyrus and Address Library for AE hoping that might fix the issue. It did not.
There are comments here since AE was introduced...so what am I missing? I use this as my primary residence in most playthroughs, but I am consistently crashing every time I attempt to enter.
This is something that changed post-AE, so if anyone has ideas, I'm happy to hear them/try solutions/etc. TIA

Is the teleportation spell unidirectional?
I can't use the same skills to go back to the previous location.

Go get this mod and install it. Et voila.

All thanks go to Vastaril at Skyrim Mods Reddit for suggesting this as a possibility and holding my hand through the process.
