    More like K-pop elders.

I'm probably not in tune enough with K-pop to see it.

What's the difference between this mod and consistent older people that makes it worth having a compatibility patch?

Consistent Older People makes the bodies match the character's age. Dignified Elders mostly makes changes to the characters' faces.

Do you not see all the NPCs with ridiculous KS hairstyles?

I mean, I prefer to say "dignified KS hairstyles" but, yeah. :)

Great work, it really makes a difference, compatible with Diversity and many others, just place it below the ones you choose to overwrite!

    Fantastic mod, thanx a lot.

For some reason i have some elders walking around without clothes.

The only mods i have installed while testing are USSEP, ApachiiHair, ApachiiHairMales, ApachiiHairFemales, KS Hairdo's,
SPTConsistentOlderPeopleSE, ACF Dignified Elders and ACFDE Consistent Older People Patch in the order of writing.

Any reason why this can happen?

That's weird. If it's only some elders, it's probably a problem with the outfits not being equipped. There were a handful of elders with hats or bonnets, where I created duplicate hat-less outfits so you could see the hair. But beyond that, I'm not sure. I may be able to take a closer look this evening, maybe something will click.

Was this a new game? Or in any way installed onto an existing save?

Ok so, ran through a quick test of both a new game and existing vanilla game, and Hilde at least was fully clothed either way, though with the saved game she had the bonnet on still. Which elders were running around naked?

Existing saves were the problem. I thought i used pretty clean saves from early in the game but it seems they were not that clean after all.
Everything is fine now, only Hilde is wearing a Bonnet like you mentioned yourself.

Hi, thanks for commenting! You haven't told me much about your modlist, etc, but here's some general advice on the dark face issue.

The dark face issue is usually caused by one of two things. Do you have other mods that affect the elders? If not, check that you have all files from the download installed. It should be an esp file and some meshes and textures. You can see the files if you click the preview link on the files tab of this mod page. Check and see if the meshes and textures are missing.

If you do have other mods changing the elders, this is a probably a load order issue. The dark face bug also happens when the meshes and textures from Other Amazing Mod "win" the conflict, but the esp from Dignified Elders "wins" or vice versa, resulting in a mismatch. In Mod Organizer 2, this means keeping the left pane and right pane in the same order for the relevant mods.

A little more detail: your load order when you start Skyrim determines which esp wins. If Other Amazing Mod is loading after Dignified Elders, its changes to the elders' records will overwrite any Dignfied Elders changes. On the other hand, the winner for loose textures and meshes (like Dignified Elders uses) is determined by *mod installation order*. So if you install Other Amazing Mod ("OMA") and then Dignfied Elders (DE), but load them in the reversed order (DE, then OMA), you will get the dark face bug. Also the reverse is true: install DE then OMA, but use a load order of OMA then DE, and you will also get dark faces. Try to keep install order and load order the same for mods affecting NPC records (including appearance) and your life will be much easier.

Incidentally, Mod Organizer 2 makes this much easier to manage by storing your mods in a separate file system directory and then "installing" them using a virtual file system right before you run the game. Keeping these mods in sync is as simple as keeping the left (mod installation) and right (esp load order) panes in as close to the same order as possible.

One other thing to note is that some other mods pack their meshes and textures into a bsa. Bsa files load with the esp. Textures and meshes that are installed as loose files will overwrite the ones in the bsa. So if OMA used a bsa for its facegen files, load DE after OMA. Otherwise, you will get dark faces.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Sorry for the delay. I've had this issue with other mods and by simply loading the esp into the CK and re-saving extracted the facegen data which resolves this issue however, when I load this esm into the CK, the CK crashed every-time. Can you open this in the CK and if so do you mind extracted the facegen directory?

I do like the screens here and would love to implement this into my LO. My LO is quite complex otherwise I'd share it with you. I am running over 1100 mods smoothly.

      Thanks :)

1100! Nice! And thanks for the kind words! I'm not sure how much I'll be able to provide anything different from what you can already download here. What I mean is, the textures and meshes you can download with Dignified Elders were created in *exactly* that way, with two caveats.

First, the Creation Kit also saves some useless tga files, which I removed.

Second, the Creation Kit saves the facegen in the wrong directory for changes to existing base-game NPCs: it shoves everything into [Meshes or Textures]/Actors/Characters/FaceGenData/FaceGeom/Dignified Elders.esp, but (for example) if the NPC was introduced in Dawnguard, its facegen would need to be in: [Meshes or Textures]/Actors/Characters/FaceGenData/FaceGeom/Dawnguard.esm. You would need to correct the directory structure of the facegen yourself. Some of the NPCs affected by Dignified Elders are introduced in the base game (Skyrim.esm), others in Dawnguard or Dragonborn (Dragonborn.esm). Hopefully, you see the pattern and what you would need to do to correct the directory structure.

But you could instead just grab the loose textures and meshes from Dignified Elders (downloaded again if necessary) and install them again. They are the same as what you would get from the CK, but without the useless tgas and with the directory structure corrected.

If you are determined to re-save this in the CK:

      * flag KS Hairdos temporarily as an esm in SSEEdit.
      * make sure to load the unofficial patch, apachii -- both the main file (ApachiiHair.esm) and male hair file (ApachiiHairMales.esm) -- and KS Hairdos, flagged as esm, and Dignified Elders
      * make sure to select Dignified Elders as the Active plugin.
      * you should be able to save Dignified Elders and facegen should be generated.
      * make sure to remove the tgas (they take up a lot of space)
      * correct the directory structure as above
      * unflag KS Hairdos as esm in SSEEdit.

This is basically how I made my mod. No secret sauce. :)

Edit: Listen, if you take another whack at this stuff and it's still not working, PM me. I'll see if I can help. The dark face bug is always frustrating for me too, so I get it.

This, plus Men of winter, gives a nice touch to the oft neglected male npcs of Skyrim. Eorlund looks dignified as intended,Not overly chiseled as some make him, or like a strung out skooma head on his last legs.

Though the required mods are pretty big.

Thanks! The required mods are big, yes. I tend to play with a lot of NPC overhauls already, and Apachii and KS are already required mods in my load order, so it doesn't affect me as much. At some point I may try and make Dignified Elders standalone to mitigate this.

In the meantime, if you install the required mods, at least you get all the hairs! :)

Edit: Oh and the patch of course. I would encourage others to use USSEP. It fixes so many issues! And one of my biggest modding headaches is handcrafting my load order conflict resolution patch, which is mostly forwarding USSEP fixes or enemy enhancement mod changes overwritten by appearance mods.

That's odd. :( Bluish purple usually indicates missing textures. Maybe reinstall the mod? Do you also see the hair? Or just a band? Do you see this with no other mods installed as well?

Ok new guess: I suspect those might be missing textures from KS Hairdos SSE or (maybe, but much less likely) ApachiiSkyHair SSE. Check to make sure you have KS Hairdos SSE installed correctly. And I suppose it is possible that an older version might not contain all the hairs I use. Would you be able to tell me which version of KS Hairdos SSE you're using? And is there a particular NPC you are seeing this with? Or is it all of them? And none of the men?

How's compatibility with other NPC look changing mods?
Old people tend to lose hair, especially males. Elves are a different matter but humans - imperials, bretons (reachmen) and to some extent nords should loose hair at old age.

Generally compatible. In the following sense: If Other Amazing Mod changes Fralia Gray-Mane, which Dignified Elders does as well, and you install both, Fralia will have the appearance determined by whichever mod loads last. You'll get the changes from one or the other. Any NPCs changed by Other Amazing Mod that are not listed in the "NPCs Covered" article will be unaffected by Dignified Elders.

Please keep in mind that Dignified Elders currently uses loose files for facegen. I tried to create a bsa version but couldn't figure it out. Maybe in the future? What this means is that you should generally keep the mod install order and the esp load order of appearance-affecting mods the same. Otherwise you could end up with the records from one mod and the facegen from another, and that would result in weirdly dark faces on NPCs covered by both mods.

Thanks for the feedback on the baldness! :) It is true -- though not all old people lose their hair, many do. From wikipedia: "Pattern hair loss by age 50 affects about half of males and a quarter of females." And this was definitely something I considered. But I just wasn't happy with the Bethesda hairstyles. And there aren't a lot of mod-added options either.

Off the top of my head, I significantly added hair to the following characters. Sergius Turranius, Septimus Signus, Jouane Manette, and Rogatus Salvius had very little if any hair, but I gave them some. Torbjorn, Esbern, Octieve San, Thonjolf, and Vulwulf had some hair, but now have more hair. Festus Krex, Logrolf, Calcelmo (an elf I think), Styrr, Nepos and Skald the Elder had hair, but just kept it short (they used a super-short hairstyle). I had them grow it out a bit.

I did not change any characters in leveled lists, so on the order of 15 more men in Skyrim (give or take) have less hair loss with this mod than without. And the number of women in Skyrim with hair loss remains unchanged. If the effect is jarring to some, I get that. After all, I *want* my elders to stand out a bit more. Maybe the numbers will be comforting? Maybe not. But if I find more cool options for balding characters' hairstyles, I will absolutely consider them.
