Partly shameless plug here but also relevant information for people using Moonpath to Elsweyr: I've just released a custom-voiced follower, Lucien, who has over 100 extra lines especially recorded to tie in with Moonpath's quests, locations and enemies. If you're interested, you can download him here!
If you can't start the quest because you can't speak to the Khajiit, what you need to do is disable this patch. Then you can talk to them and start the quest. Once you reach the fist stop on the journey, you can reenable the patch.
Where the hell is the caravan? This patch and the LotD patches are all in the right order, I've done Way of the Voice, I've gotten the quest from Auryen, and there's an empty cart outside of Falkreath, but there's no NPCs. The empty caravan is definitely from this mod, since I checked it in the console, but the NPCs I'm meant to talk to aren't there.
Hey, I wanted to point out that if playing with the Legacy of the dragonborn patch (the one from the package on the patches mod page) and this one it should be loaded after the DBM patch, I couldn't speak to the Khajit if it was loaded before and the mod couldn't progress (even after completing the Way of the Voice)
Does anybody know enough about modding to edit this patch to remove just the part that blocks the caravan from spawning until "The Way of the Voice" is finished?
I sometimes like to play without dragons I don't care if they all call me dovakiin but I do want the rest of the fixes in this patch.
+1. I just want to have the carriage moved. I don't care for the requirement of being dragonborn. I dont want my khajiit character to be dragonborn but i don't have the knowhow to get rid of that requirement in the scripting safely. I tried using just the bruma synergy patch but that requires it too. I just wanna play the quest without having all these prerequisites.
I am a year late to this party, but while looking through the files in Xedit I did manage to make a custom plugin that changes the quest requirement. I am also using the Bruma Synergy Patch, so I just changed it to the one that completes when you enter Cyrodiil for the first time. this seemed to work fine when I tested it by COC-ing into the Bruma pub and then running down the road to check. unfortunately, it does not seem to work on my existing save. I tried full out removing the quest requirement entirely like the base Moonpath file has, but I guess I keep missing something, because without it the stuff just never appears until I console complete the Way of the Voice quest. whatever was changed to make it a requirement, I guess it was pretty deeply ingrained
Honestly this was over 5 years ago, so I can't 100% remember my implementation, but I'm pretty sure I did that check in a script, so it probably won't be something you can easily edit with xEdit. I didn't consider options for it to be within the scope of the patch - the NPCs frequently refer to you as Dovahkiin, so from a "polishing" point of view, it had to be a requirement. If you want to make an optional plugin to change it, by all means go for it, but I'm unlikely to have time to revisit this mod at any point in the near future.
I appreciate the response. I get the immersion reasons behind adding the requirement, but in my case I'm using the Alternate Perspective mod to delay the main quest. with that one Helgen is still intact, even. The base game also has a few references to the return of the dragons/ the Dragonborn as well, so I figure if I can look past that in the base game, I can ignore it in a mod too. The changes I made in XEdit did work fine with a new test character, just not with my existing save. I might take a closer look in the Creation Kit and see if there's any way to make it work on an existing save, or maybe I'll just have to finally start the main quest before I can go get that dang staff for Legacy of the Dragonborn
Where are the Khajits? You mention across the street from the original location, but Idk where there original location is and I've spent close to an hour trying to find anything online that even mentions it. Every video or mention I've seen is that they're in the Tavern in Falkreath. The original mod page is long gone and nobody bothered to mention any details in any of the ports/reposts.
if by their original location you mean the two khajiit you need to speak to in falkreath, i believe the original location is just outside one of the main gates leading into and out of the town of falkreath. this is where ive found them each time when playing and i was not using this patch at the time or others that changed their location. if you're using any overhaul mods that have a patch for the main moonpath mod, then i'd recommend checking those for what they patch (for example, if you use a town overhaul that moves the city gates for falkreath in a way that conflicts, then a patch for that overhaul and moonpath may have moved the location those khajiit spawn.). i hope this helps!
Trying to get this to start and I have the proper load order with all the fixes even the one from afkmods site. I had forgotten that I finished way of the voice some time before I installed this mod so I tried once to go to falkreath and see if the caravan was there. I didn't get any kind of popup or quest start at all. When I get to falkreath there is a cart with no horse and only two khajits standing there with some stuff strewn about on the ground. I can't talk to them the do not react at all when I try to talk to them. Maybe there is a bug caused by installing this mod before obtaining the way of the voice quest? I guess I could try waiting in game or fast travel or whatever. I just finished returning the horn to the greybeards maybe that makes a difference? I have diplomatic immunity quest now but haven't went back to delphine yet.
I'm not using any fancy carriages mods at all and I don't have legacy of the dragonborn installed either.
EDIT
Ok there are a few things I think I did to make it work but I'm sure only one of those things did it but here goes... the dialogue with the two npcs at the cart work now but did not work before I handed in the horn to the greybeards. I traveled to whiterun and putzed around in breezehome before remembering I could use console commands to see what stage a quest is on so I used the getstage command for the starting quest "by the light of the moon" and it returned stage 0. I checked in xedit and stage 10 only happens after talking to the npcs so instead of trying to change to a different stage I just used the startquest command with the quest ID and then took a carriage ride from whiterun to falkreath. Once there I noticed that I could chat with the two npcs.
So it does actually work even for people like me that installed it AFTER finishing the way of the voice. I still think turning in the horn had something to do with it but I will never know now.
Hi Joseph, thank you for all your mods! I noticed that the mod Moonpath to Elsweyr Navmesh Fix SSE by user Mebantiza has been removed from the Nexus recently. I wondered if you were interested in adding similar fixes made by Mebantiza's mod to yours?
Hi Kulharin, No I don't have any more info. I kinda assumed it was a due to the recent Nexus changes and Mebantiza had decided to remove it. I thought the same user had authored quite a few other mods (but now only one is still available for SE which is why i thought that it was due to the recent changes). If there are other mods perhaps these are also be set to hidden rather than deleted. But perhaps I assumed too much to start with
I second this. Redoing my mod list today has become a pain with discovering that Mebantiza hid the Navmesh fix since I can't find any alternatives to it. I'm a bit worried about playing through the mod with followers without a navmesh fix.
I did shoot the author a DM, still waiting on a response. Should it be shared here in the comments section in the meantime? Not sure if permissions would allow for that.
