I know you suggest going with the "updated" version of this mod, but for me, it has too much feature creep as well as three unaddressed bugs. I like your version better.

My only gripe is that there's no compatibility with mods that add light sources (in this case, I'm specifically talking about Wearable Lanterns). But I can roleplay that away by saying that creatures are more afraid of the torch's open flame, which provides some stress relief compared to the lantern.

Regardless, this is a really cool mod, and I appreciate you making it.

Edit: I was actually able to edit the spell which reduces stress to include carrying a lit lantern as well as some other conditions specific to mods I have.

So i was playing the vampire Campaign with survival mode and the stress mod yes im a Masochist and i have never wanted to die more but now i have run into an interesting problem where i found the stress cap (its ends at 418 stress) but once that cap is reached the stress either continues to climb and climb without showing it or it freezes there forever haha. Never try to get auriels bow with the stress mod you might just suffer from an actual heart attack the combo of stress managment the lack of food and the vampire castle not being a stress relieving location causing you to have to run to solitude to try and calm down and not die aswell as get some food is about the worst most painful thing anyone could do i finally gave up and did all the missions with TGM on which brings me to my current prediciment -_-... but overall great mod.

Ok, so first off, freaking LOVE the idea. Seriously, you have no idea just how awesome I think this is. It creates a need, far more so than actual needs mods, to actually stop and rest between dungeons or major fights.
However, I've got a few suggestions.
Blessings should reduce stress and slow down it's accumulation for the duration of the blessing, with the implication being that either the blessing itself or the faith that sought out the blessing gives you more confidence and resolve. Irrational is a bit more of a pain than it's actually worth, imo. Werewolves should also be immune to passive night time stress.

A few other things. Perhaps setting markers at certain skill thresholds to give a resistance to stress. For instance, hitting 75 in any weapon or magic skill makes you confident in your ability to handle what you encounter, reducing the stress of combat, hitting 75 in blocking or armor reduces stress from taking damage, and 75 in sneaking reduces stress from sneaking and exploring hostile territory.

Honestly, there is so much potential for this mod that it could be become a staple feature for many players, changing the way you approach everything, without the significant compatibility issues from gameplay overhaul mods.

yeah but making mods isnt magic, the things you suggest, while awesome, are likely too much for someone not getting paid to make mods, maybe offer the modder some money  No? You don't want to pay them? ...shocking... Thanks for the mod grasscid we love you.

well frankly it's just not very good, all things considered. It's buggy and unfinished and you're probably better off not using it.
Only reason I've kept this one up is so I can tell people to go use GPortner's version in the description.

Nice idea but can't figure out how to get rid of the negatives. If they are permanent then that is a very dumb.

My paranoia is really really really high and says it's gonna last for something like 28,000 hours. How can I fix that?

This is awesome! I can easily see this becoming a staple mod for me, the very least it would need is more flavourful text notifications.
I think it could be a little less harsh given Skyrim's natural splendor and while I have not experienced the "irrational" affliction it seems like it would be more frustrating than anything else. I'd love to see quirks implemented maybe even some special stress relief activities.
At any rate I hope you continue working on this; there is vast potential here.

Irrational is a terrible affliction. I got hit with it once (totally forgot I had the mod installed) and suddenly my character started losing control of everything and became totally helpless without any warning whatsoever.

Thankfully, I had a conjured wolf and he killed the one guy who could see me and then had the decency to run around a corner and die where the other guy couldn't see me and I got lucky by already being in sneak mode. Still, could have gone way south way quick.

On the note of stress relief activities:
I should also gain a stress reduction by sleeping in beds that I own, (that way it can work with even more mods, like campfire or haven)

Smithing/Alchemy/Enchanting should all count as stress reducing activities, since that's what hobbies are for, amiright?

Oh, and gathering flowers should count for something! XD It's not like I have any other reason to stop and smell the snowberries.

Well rested should help fortify against stress, and how many summons//companions you have with you should also affect how fast you get stressed out.

There should be smaller penalties kick in before the bigger ones kick in, so going insane doesn't come as a complete "WTF!?!" moment.

Stress release and stress gain should not be the same speed, otherwise instead of taking a quick break every so often to "de-stress" you'll end up trying to complete entire dungeons before you snap. Seriously, I'm typing out this post because I got nothing else to do while I wait the three to 10 minutes it takes for all the stress to go away naturally. It sucks, and screw leaving a dungeon after every trash mob to go take a nap in an inn!

Also, irrational shouldn't stack, it should rotate.

      As in, instead of:
      First: movement
      and then: left attack button
and then: right attack button, where I lose control of all of them within 15 seconds

      I should get:
      First: movement is disabled
then: movement restored, attack left disabled
then: attack left restored, attack right disabled.

Much more fun, still very chaotic.

Also, whats the point of dying of a heart attack at 200 stress if hitting 100 stress during combat does the same thing anyways?

I know this comment is a bit of a read, but I hope you can read through it and get some take aways to better this mod with amazing potential. This mod looks interesting and I love darkest dungeon, but the afflictions seem very harsh for just being really stressed out, as someone who (while not having faced down ghosts and daedra) has been in very stressful situations in life (I'm a Marine), these afflictions seem a bit off. For irrational especially, maybe your speech goes down a crap ton so you need to lower your stress before you talk to people with hopes of persuading them. lower the shout recharge rate, add voices that the player character hears but has no origin (like schizophrenia), or maybe it lowers the skill level of your skill trees, maybe two from the warrior side, two from the mage side at random, and two from the thief are at random, if you can actually develop a random nature to it, going in to combat as irrational and not realizing that while I've been playing with a bow and arrow, that my light armor skill sucks ass and my restoration abilities have also been s*** on, so it'll be a rude awakening when I try to switch to recover, just some thoughts. As far as stress recovery, I'd recommend that anything non stressful should tick it downwards, not just Inns or taverns, and going home to your family and having dinner in your house should basically be a stress reset. A perk tree would be pretty cool too, much like frostfall. You could have two perks that make it so it increases your chance of becoming virtuous to 50% and then to 75%. Perks that make you less stressed out while specifically exploring dungeons, or walking at night (a race with night vision probably shouldn't get stressed at night and neither should someone who drank a night vision potion), or combat. One essential thing is to add flavor texts to alert you when your stress level reaches certain amounts like 25, 50, 75, 85, 90, 95. Quirks such as tippler, or faithless could possibly be implemented as diseases, from my amateur knowledge of the creation kit. A stressful event like going irrational should up your stress level by 25 (can't go completely to zero) for a week as a form of PTSD (Many people don't know PTSD can be both short and long term, but a long term wouldn't really work in the game). Or if you get stressed out to the 100 limit in a dungeon for example, dungeons will stress you out more for a week. Certain perks could reduce the effects of PTSD in time and intensity. Taking damage should add a bit to stress but those points should go away as soon as you heal. I hope these suggestions help and aren't an unknowingly tall order, I'll definitely be tracking this mod! Good luck!

First off: I love the idea behind this mod. I really enjoy DD and the Stress/Virtue element fits very well (especially when exploring ancient barrows or dank, troll infested caves. I'm looking forward to whatever future developments you may have in store.

Sorry if this has already been said, and I know more methods of relieving Stress are in the works, but I really do think that Stress relief should occur while resting/waiting in Gerdur's or Alvor's houses. They do, after all, tell you to relax and stay as long as you need to.

Other things I'd like to see: Quirks, such as Tippler (recover Stress from drinking, but only from drinking) or Faithless (will not recover stress at temples), or, on the positive side, Warrior of Light (damage buff when wielding a torch or under the effect of a light spell) or Resilient (increased Stress recovery). And so on.

Again, great mod, and keep up the good work.
