About this mod

This mod adds new, standalone Facemasks to the game that will be seen on Bandits throughout the land.
The player can now join the Bandits and walk among them as an ally by simply equipping a Facemask.
Any bounties accrued while wearing a Facemask will be tracked separately to your regular bounties, so go and get your hands dirty!

Please read this mod description thoroughly, as this mod actually does quite a lot for such a little package.
This mod, although somewhat complex, is actually very compatible and script friendly.
There are no constantly polling scripts or anything dangerous.
The only performance issue may be from some script lag ONLY when equipping or unequipping the facemasks as the player.

Welcome to Bandit Facemask Disguise.

WHAT DOES IT DO:
This mod adds new, standalone Facemasks to the game that will be seen on Bandits throughout the land.
The player can now join the Bandits and walk among them as an ally by simply equipping a Facemask.
Be aware, if Bandits see you without your mask they will assume you are hostile and attack, at which point equipping a Facemask will not quell their blood-thirst.
As a bandit, you will also have some anonymity from your regular self.
Any bounties accrued while wearing a Facemask will be tracked separately to your regular bounties, so go and get your hands dirty!

Your Bandit reputation will remain for 30 seconds after you remove the mask, this applied to bandit friendliness AND your separate Bandit Bounty.
You will receive a notification when the effect wears off, at that point you are back on your regular bounty.
This serves two purposes:
1. It stops bandits from attacking you if you accidentally unequip your mask, but only for 30 seconds (unless you re-equip one before the effect wears off).
2. It gives you time to clear your Bandit Bounty. Simply get arrested while wearing your mask. Your gear will be removed while you are in jail, 
but if you sleep to "Serve Time" before the effect wears off it will pay your regular AND bandit bounty.

Guards will not attack you on sight just for having the facemask equipped, only if you have accrued bounty.

Regular people will talk to you as normal as well, they don't care that you have some cloth on your face.

The facemasks can all be crafted at a tanning rack in exchange for some ruins cloth.


COMPATIBILITY:
This mod will work fine with Volvaga0's original Face Masks of Skyrim SE mod.
However, I have added new 2k textures that will overwrite his.
If you prefer my textures, install my mod after his and let it overwrite, otherwise install mine first and his second and allow to overwrite.
Meshes will also give the option to overwrite, but they are duplicates so it doesnt matter.

This mod won't conflict with any other mod in a dangerous way, however it DOES alter the outfit records of bandits.
This isnt essential to this mod to work, so you can install preferably mods after this one, or create a bashed patch to include both changes.

This mod WILL ONLY work with bandits that are in the BanditAllyFaction, It may not work as intended with mods that add new bandits/gangs unless those gangs are all added to the same faction.
The two mods should still work together anyway, but you may find some bandits/gangs just dont accept you.



FUTURE PLANS:
I want to work further on the jail time section, I wont go in to detail though as I don't know what will be possible yet.
I also want to add a few unique "Bandit Leaders" that will clear your Bandit Bounty for you, at a price. 

NOTE:
1: If you go to jail with the facemask equipped, but you don't serve time until AFTER the effect has worn off, you will be spawned back in 
town with the mask equipped still, at which point your bandit bounty will be re-applied and you will likely get arrested a second time. 
I am working on a fix for this, in the meantime, if this happens to you just make sure you "serve time" before the effect wears off (30 seconds).

2: There is a slight delay when equipping the facemask before the effect finishes initializing.
You will receive a notification when the effect is active. You will also receive a notification when the effect has expired when you unequip it.
You will NOT see the bandit effect in Active Magic Effects. 

3: Some info on the bounty tracking.
When you equip the facemask, the mod queries your current bounties across each crime-faction, as well as companions, thieves guild and dark brotherhood and stores them in a quest property.
It then assigns bounties to each of these, by default the amount is 0. When you unequip the facemask, any gained bounties will then be stored to a different quest property, 
and sets your bounties back to the values we queried at the start. Basically these two properties switch between each other as the facemask is equipped/unequipped.

This mod uses assets from authors credited above. As such, none of the assets included can be used without express permission from the original authors
(Meshes and textures by Volvaga0, scripts by FrankFamily).
If you obtain permission from the relevant original author, then I will also grant permission for any modified files that I have changed (such as textures and scripts).
