RIP if you're fighting a guy with a rare weapon by a cliff

I wonder if this would work fine with that mod that drops all the opponents items on the floor. Because I would use em together but I heard that mod is outdated though so I held off installing it.

Why is that an issue? I can still loot dropped weapons from the corpse inventory.

I think that was actually an issue with previous iterations/attemps at this type of mod. But thankfully Seb has smartly decoupled the weapon from the skeleton and not the actual inventory.

That's how it works in the Oblivion remaster lol. It's very annoying when you kill something in a grassy area or on a hill and need to hunt down the weapon. I'm glad it's not an issue here.

i installed this very tired and forgot about it asap. Played again a few day later and realized it directly in the first fight. Great Mod, makes a big difference in early game skirmishes.

Having an issue where the icons from Quickloot IE that show if an item is enchanted (blue lightning bolt) don't appear, or the one that tells you if you've learned the enchant (checkbox next to the blue lightning bolt). Works if you pick up the weapon from the body then trade it back to the body.

I still get the icons from regular loot containers/chests. This is specifically an issue with weapons and enemy bodies. Armor icons still work ok.

So there might be some sort of incompatibility with how these two mods are interacting. Was working fine before I installed DDO.

    Some image examples :

    Fresh kill, no icon :

    Hey.
I am really worried about the state of the modding community.
You as a modder are using a bethesda game and modifying it to your liking, sharing that passion with others.
Bethesda gives a pass on that one, but you seem to hold your intellectual property higher than that of others, as it seems.
"This mod may not be published or modified without my permission." - Why that?
Are you afraid if another spinoff mod/modpack gets released you wont get credited?
Is it about stopping other passionate guys like you from advancing the frontiers of what is possible?
I mean, give it a read, he pretty much sums it up, why i feel so disguisted by a big part of bethesda modding community:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/dfp47h/its_time_for_a_rant_about_the_bethesda_modding/
I don´t want to diminish your work, i don´t even want to get into a big argument.
Just give it a read, and think about why you are handling it the way you do @Seb263
    Greetings

      Hi,

Strange... No one has ever asked me to justify myself on this matter before. But alright, I'm willing to give it a shot.

First of all, you seem to believe that Bethesda is being generous by allowing us to freely create mods. Honestly, and I mean no disrespect, I think that's a rather naive way of looking at it. Let's not forget we're talking about a company whose main goal (and now more than ever, its only goal) is to make profit. So let me ask you a question in return: do you seriously think that Bethesda Softworks games (TES / Fallout) would still be selling so well today if modding weren't possible? The fact that we're still debating this 14 years after the game's release speaks for itself. I'm not ungrateful, and I'll gladly admit that allowing modding was a smart decision on their part. But let's not put them on a pedestal either, because it clearly hasn't always served them well, judging by their latest titles which look more like sandboxes for modders than ambitious games in their own right.

Now to get to the core of your message: the reason behind my stance is actually quite simple and very personal. I'm extremely demanding with what I create. I pour all my time and energy into it, and as a result, it's very difficult for me to see my work altered or potentially misused. Some people might see that as arrogance, and that's fine. Still, I don't really see myself as part of the "disgust" you described. For every mod I release, I always make an effort to ensure its features are available for other modders who want to make use of them. The Dismembering Framework and Core Impact Framework are two clear examples of that. I even spent a lot of time writing detailed documentation for them. And I'm absolutely not against patches or companion mods - quite the opposite, I actually encourage them, sometimes even in vain (like the FEC patch for DF). So if you really wanted your message to be meaningful, you probably should have addressed it to another modder.

Finally, since I'm open to discussion, here's my broader opinion on the topic: why all the fuss? The main goal here is to share our creations with the community, and that's what modders have been doing for decades. Whether you're a fan of open source, prefer to retain some control over your creations (I fall into that category), or are completely opposed to any kind of modification or patch - what does it matter in the end? No one forces users to agree with a modder's philosophy in order to download their work, and no one stops other modders from taking a different approach to a similar idea.

I've been part of the modding scene since the game launched in 2011. I did take a long break at some point, but I always kept an eye on new releases. And what I see is that I've never come across a community as large, vibrant and constantly evolving as the TES V one. So no, I don't share your concerns or your outlook on the current state of the community or modding in general.

      Thanks for the answer.

I am no Bethesda chill, and i can fully understand your stance on that matter.
And yes, i am an open source enthusiast. Some words in my comment might have been too harsh, and i apologize, if i did not hit the right tone.
I support modders and i respect that some projects are closed source.
Myself being a software-Dev: I would NEVER install closed source DLLs onto my PC if i don´t really trust the source.
That being said, it is kind of sad, that i will - until opensource - never test your developments.
From Dev to Dev, i don´t need to tell you why it is ALWAYS a bad life-decision to run precompiled closed source DLLs on your system.
There might be some hurdles with privilege-escalation if those DLLs want to really install spyware, but we are talking about Windows.
There are enough exploits out there to really screw anyone doing so.
I guess i don´t have to point out the individual CVEs correlating with my stance.
I fully support you doing what you are doing, i hope that passion keeps up.
It is just not for me, i guess.
I will restrain myself and not fire up AIDA64 to look into the inner workings of this DLL, as i find it disrespectful to you, the author.
"I don´t want to see my work altered/misused" -> I can see that point, i just cannot identify myself with these words. What is a misuse of a mod? To personalize it to someone´s own needs, crediting the original author? Is that misuse?
Isn´t that what the modding community should be about in the first place?

Best regards and greetings from Germany

PS: I know i could turn this project into a botnet, so why couldn´t you?
You do not have to answer or defend yourself, it is not an attack. I just wanted to seed a thought that there might be better ways.
Everyone using it is absolutely at your mercy, if this is the goal, so be it

I was able to respond calmly to your first message by addressing the points you raised, but now you're clearly going off track.

The issue of permissions related to my work is no longer even part of the discussion. You've completely shifted focus. You're now bringing up security concerns as a way to push your open-source ideology, which you've actually been trying to promote from the start. You probably won't admit it, but the way this conversation has unfolded speaks for itself. Everyone can form their own opinion.

As for your arguments, I'm sorry but they're quite far-fetched. You say you don't want to install mods with precompiled DLLs unless you have access to the source code. Fair enough. But let's imagine for a moment that I did have bad intentions. Do you seriously think I would leave suspicious code lying around in plain sight on a public repository? Come on. And if your answer is "I compile everything from source," are you really expecting me to believe that you audit thousands of lines of code, line by line, for every mod you download? If that's the case, then the issue isn't the state of the modding community, it's your own relationship with software that you should reconsider.

If you're concerned about the files you download here, then you should take it up with Nexus Mods. But as an "expert," you surely know that every uploaded file goes through layers of automated antivirus scans. And when there's any doubt, it's reasonable to assume they'll place more trust in a long-standing and well-known author who has no reason to throw away years of work over a couple of malicious lines.

You said running my DLLs through AIDA64 would be disrespectful. Honestly, go ahead. What I do consider disrespectful is writing an entire post just to imply that I might be trying to compromise user security, despite my work being trusted and recognized in the community for almost 15 years.

I responded to your first message in good faith, but considering how this is going, there's really nothing more to say. I'm closing the discussion here, especially since this was never the right place for it anyway.

This has soft compatibility with Quick Loot, as it will let you take the weapons from the loot menu, but they stay in the loot menu until you select it again for the icon to disappear.

    Hoping this is fixable.

There’s indeed a slight desync issue (nothing serious), but this bug is already present in QuickLoot. It just tends to go unnoticed because most people use USSEP, which disables the game's default inventory behavior.

To sum it up: if you're using QuickLoot without DDO and without USSEP, you'll see the exact same issue. It could probably be fixed relatively easily, but the fix would have to come from QuickLoot itself, since it's the one handling the inventory.

I'll see if I can hop on their GitHub and submit a report.

Is there a mod that fixes this other than USSEP? I'm currently playing Enderal, and so that mod isn't an option.
