After playing witcher 3 I started to value weightless trash items like ingredients or quest items, it's a really nice game design choice.
Games that have loot everywhere you look benefit from this greatly. You can loot and keep playing the game, instead of constantly having to return. I usually don't miss any good loot so there is really no difference except less fast travels and frustration with having to constantly open inventory and those random alchemy tables you find everywhere are actually useful now.

9000 weight mod feels like cheating, this feels like good quality of life when you play. Thanks man.
  3. I am trying an alchemy-main playthrough for the first time, and I downloaded this because ingredients were becoming unwieldy to manage. I thought this mod would feel game-breaking, but it absolutely doesn't. Skyrim already penalizes potion weight fairly heavily (0.5 vanilla per potion adds up fast) so stocking your inventory with potions limits your capacity to collect loot.

Vanilla, this includes ingredients. While it may be realistic, this system gets in the way of the potion maker's workflow. Since ingredients have weight, most players will store them in a convenient chest adjacent to an alchemy table in their player home of choice. Now, every time the player wants to make a potion, it's into the chest, find the ingredients, take them out, oops, wrong button, took all, put them all back in the chest, wait, what was I doing again? And so on.

With this mod installed, the game is balanced around potion weight only. The alchemist needs to think ahead: what will I need in the field? What enemies will I encounter? What are their weaknesses and resistances? How will they attack me? How many health potions will I need? Stamina? Magic? Resistance? If the player is lucky, an alchemy table might be present in a dungeon for a restock, but since this is rare, it's not a reliable crutch.

Taking ingredients out of the inventory management equation makes adventure preparation more streamlined, engaging, and enjoyable. If Skyrim had a built-in alchemy table storage linking system (whereby storing ingredients in a specific chest made them available at specific alchemy tables) then this mod might feel like overkill. Lacking that option, this mod resolves the issues existing within the vanilla system.

As a final thought: consider that ingredients have almost no value in the field. Making them weightless streamlines gameplay, but offers very little real advantage to the player during adventures. If you're worried about breaking balance, just ask yourself: how often did having a blue mountain flower (first effect: restore health) on hand save you in a life-or-death situation?

just wanna say thank you for this mod. this has made alchemy actually enjoyable.

now when i pass by ingredients in the game i can just grab everything and play around with alchemy without having to spend all my gold at the vendor. :D

it's made alchemy a lot more fun for me, personally. doesn't feel like a cheat either since you still have to gather everything by looting, just pretend they never had weight from the start.

I normally don't use mods that give a cheat-like advantage.
But, I am tired of picking up all of my ingredients then putting them all back 1 at a time into the chest beside my alchemy table then accidentally clicking the wrong button and eating some or loot-all when I am trying to put them all back.

I will just pretend I am still storing all in the chest and retrieving what I need, so it doesn't seem like cheating =P

Thank you for the mod. /bow

Just to say it works perfectly in Enderal (VR). Thank you for doing a stand alone mod without dependencies.

I only have a basic level of knowledge as far as the Creation Kit goes. I'll look into it but I don't want release something that will screw up somebody's game because I don't have a full understanding of what I'm doing. I'll look into it though and see what is involved. It may be pretty simple.

Hello again. In response to this OP, here is a utility tool that can help you do that onson:
      Merge Plug-ins utility:
      https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69905

Also, here is a YouTube video showing you how to install and use this tool, plus you can use it if your load order is getting saturated:

Would this mod work with the Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul mod? I know that mod adds in new ingredients and changes the weights of most ingredients so I'm wondering if those ingredients would be weightless or not. If not would there be a way to get a compatibility patch for it?

Sadly it is not compatible currently. It messes with a lot of the potion effects from CACO. I'll have to look for another way to carry all my potion ingredients.

The mod only changes the ingredients weight to 0.0, check your load order if your ingredients weights are not 0.0

I've been looking for this Mod for about 3 Days now, since apparently Nexus wants to pull up everything to do with Weight, but what I'm looking for (Technology, am I right?). Anyways, I am really grateful you made this, I'm trying to run a Character who makes everything on her own and since some of these Caves and Ruins have so many Ingredients and they can really build up. I mean, I pick up a Red Flower and next thing I know I'm Over-Encumbered, from a god*** FLOWER! So, thanks, now to build my Fortune!
