Wraithguard in lore essentially protects the wearer while wielding a weapon that channels the power of the Missing God, Lorkhan. So why not a weapon channeling the power of a Daedra, too?
Now it can. (What This Mod Does)
Vampires Wield Dawnbreaker With Wraithguard:
Update:
Looks like in Requiem's latest version REQ_Effect_MeridiasMaledictionVampirismTrigger was removed to prevent "trolling" via reverse-pickpocketing vampires with it.
I uploaded a separate version that includes the relevant scripts, so if you're on version 6.0+ of Requiem, download the alternate version. This will restore Dawnbreaker and Meridia's Beacon damaging vampires while in inventory/equipped. Unless Requiem 6.0+ also directly changes Dawnbreaker's magic effects (including the AOE explosion), Wraithguard should still grant complete immunity to them while equipped on either the player or an NPC.
Requiem's Vampirism (constant effect when you're a Vampire) magic effect includes something called "REQ_Effect_MeridiasMaledictionVampirismTrigger", which is referenced in the scripts attached to both Dawnbreaker and Meridia's Beacon; it causes constant damage to the player. Now, if you have Wraithguard equipped, this damage will not trigger. Note I edited the magic effect itself, NOT Vampirism, so even if you have a modified Vampirism mod in addition to Requiem, it won't break anything. (if you're using another Vampirism mod and never experienced this damage effect in the first place, you never copied over this magic effect/didn't do any compatibility merging and can just ignore this part).
Dawnbreaker also has a large number of attached effects and additional scripts. All of these have been modified to not affect anyone - whether the player or an NPC - who has Wraithguard equipped. This includes the big AOE effect. That means you could also equip Wraithguard on an undead NPC and they'd be immune as well.
I have also taken the liberty of making a further edit, and Serana is also immune to Dawnbreaker by default to make having her as a companion less annoying. (By this I mean I already had her included in my personal edits, and am too lazy/care too little about you people to do more than drag my changes into a new .esp and upload it.)
Compatibility: There were a number of ways to go about making this mod, but I went with the option that most people have access to. I will not be making multiple versions (again I only care about you people a little bit), so if you have a different version - detailed below - it's up to you to make it compatible with your setup on your own. Learn to xEdit.
I went with the Legacy of the Dragonborn Wraithguard, since it doesn't require Anniversary Edition CC. If you have the Wraithguard CC, you'll need to change the IsEquipped references to ccBGSSSE008WraithguardGauntlet yourself. Note: If you have the Wraithguard CC, LOTD will reference it instead of their custom-made version, and you'll still need to edit the IsEquipped references. For those of you pouting right now about having to do work and whatnot, imagine me ranting about Bethesda's exploitation of CC with a lot of Ackchyually indignation. Don't like what they did, so meh.
Regarding other compatibility if you're using other mods that edit Dawnbreaker, vampirism, undead, etc., it's probably compatible as I'm mostly just editing magic effects, not Vampirism, or Dawnbreaker directly. If you're unsure, you'll just have to double-check in xEdit to confirm. Awful, I know.
Installation: Install with relevant mod manager or manually if you like to live dangerously.
No need to run the Reqtificater after installing as this only modifies its magic effects, not the weapon itself.
Uninstall: Safe to remove mid-game, though always remember that even changing load order can potentially break things in
the long term.
