You are the prove of human collective wisdom, and restored my hope for humanity. I think I have the same problem as you and i did not know i need to download papyrus extender as it didnt give out any warning.
It's actually a problem with scripts, to be honest, half of the quest would have to be redone to avoid problems with scripts or some other solution, this may work, but in other cases the problem will still appear again.
oh so it has to do with scripts, now this clears up. because I have mods that uses scripts and they take a long time and several savegame reload to make them work ingame, so i guess i have to wait for the script to load and try to start way of the voice quest
Just reporting on my own experience with Way of the Voice. I've been playing since 11/11/11, stayed at Skyrim version 1.5.97 once it came out. My mod list varies between games from 150 to 400 mods, depending on the gaming experience I'm after. And I'm brutal about changing things between saves on a single game (I've gotten away with it thus far, but I don't recommend anyone else try it. One day I'm sure I'll eat my words ..)
So far, I've never encountered this or any issue with the Greybeards' testing me or greeting me. However, I've also made sure my hardware is beefy enough to run Skyrim with the load I put on it, including 32GB of memory and a 6GB video card. I've tried both AMD and Intel CPUs and went with Intel because of its greater single thread capability (at least they were so when I bought my last CPU). Perhaps script lagging due to slow processing might account for the issue reported here? Not trying to brag, just offering a possible explanation.
Hail and well met. Sorry to say I am just a mod user not a programmer at all. I rolled back my saved game and tried the Greybeards again and still blasting them multiple times and no recognition. Even tried exiting the Tower and waiting 1 hour outside before heading back in and Arngeir still yells at me to Shout at him again.
Hail and well met. Hate to report that Arngeir just got blasted by my Shout several times before he finally recognized me as the Dragonborn. Also, when learning the second word of Unrelenting Force I had to go outside, wait one hour then reenter High Hrothgar and finally learned the second Word. Then we all went out to learn the Whirlwind Shout and I walked all over the runes several times to learn Whirlwind. As far as I can see, this mod fails. BTW, when using Unrelenting Force Shout to blast the phantom summons by the greybeards, the counter did not count yet I was finally granted that I was again recognized as Dragonborn.
