   Can you use Nemesis or does it absolutely have to be FNIS? Wanted to ask before trying to and seriously messing up my game.

      yes, you can use nemesis. I use nemesis as well

      Does your game make the animations work as well? I have installed with Nemesis and I ran the Nemesis Engine after installing but my character only walks through the air now instead of using flying animations like it would with FNIS. For clarity, I don't have FNIS installed, just Nemesis currently

      nemesis should be fine, check if you installed both files and used nemesis correctly
