The optional file replaces the texture for SMIM, not the mesh. If you have SMIM, download optional version to replace texture. If not, just use the normal download. Hope that makes sense.
Would you consider doing the imperialwallsconce01 and 02 as well? They're in textures\clutter\imperial.
Edit: Maybe I should add that these textures cover chandeliers, candelabra and all that stuff for users who don't use the SMIM meshes for that particular folder (if you use high poly candle meshes for example).
So a single texture for all metal work basically. I think the texture pattern of your lantern texture would fit very well!

I can't find any lantern meshe in SMIM. Can somebody tell me please what mesh is covered by the SMIM lantern texture from this mod ?
