I always liked ebony as a fantasy material. The blood of a god that can be mined from the earth and forged into armors and weapons. Lucid black with gold or silver trimming. However I never liked the design of ebony armors, expecially the Gundam-like Skyrim one.
I have been modding Skyrim since day 1, making all kind of armors and outfits, but I never managed to make an ebony armor that I was really happy with, until now. So here it is: same stats as the vanilla one, but lighter. Can be crafted at the forge with the ebony perk. Only male, but if you can make a female version and send it to me I will update the mod.
Textures are not included except for the gauntlets and boots, so the armor may look different according to your texture packs. I will link which one I use if you want the same look:
