About this mod

Small plugin that replaces the lackluster Silent Moons Enchantment in Vanilla Skyrim with one based from the Lunaris spell pack made by Darenii, along with a different visual for the enchantment, and a tiered naming scheme.

“I do solemnly swear. To every living being, and every living soul. Now cometh The Age of the Stars. A thousand year voyage under the wisdom of the Moon. Here beginneth the chill night that encompasses all, reaching the great beyond. Into fear, doubt, and loneliness... As the path stretcheth into darkness.”
 - Ranni the Witch

Was anyone else as disappointed as I was by the Silent Moons Enchantment in Vanilla? By the sound of it, the enchantment was supposed to be good. A powerful enchantment with a lot of charges that draws its power from the moons, and only works late at night? Sounds sick!

Yeah. But that's not what we got, now is it? Instead, we got a very lackluster "Light Damage" (that has Fire Damage keywords for some bizarre reason) that, for all intents, barely does anything. In fact, I recall it doing nothing at all when trying it out.

Well, no more. Thanks to the wonderful Lunaris spell pack made by Darenii, we can create what's not only a strong enchantment, but a very on-theme one at that. Cause, let's face it. "Vampiric" effects and fire don't fit with moonlight at all. Do you think of fire when you think of moonlight?

Mod Features
  • Replaces the off-theme, barely functional "Silent Moons" enchantment with a "Dark Moonlight" enchantment, a much more fitting enchantment based from the Lunaris spell pack. On hit, this enchantment deals magic damage and slows targets by 25% for 3 seconds. While magic resistance affects the damage dealt, the slow effect cannot be resisted. Pretty strong, yes, but given that it only works at night? It should be fine.
  • Also widens the active time of the enchantment by 2 more hours, making it effective from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. as opposed to the original 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Gives the enchantment on the weapon the icy sheen of Chillrend, minus Chillrend's mist effect. This makes it appear as if the weapon is cold with the pale light of the moon.
  • Adds a new naming scheme to the weapons you find, showing the tier of weapon obtained. "Lunar" is the lowest tier with 10 damage, followed by "Moonlight" at 15, then by "Dark Moon" at 20. (So for example, the naming scheme would look like "Dark Moon Steel Sword", "Moonlight Iron Sword", "Lunar Iron Mace", etc.)
  • Alters the text contained in "Notes on the Lunar Forge" to reflect this new enchantment theme, describing them as cold weapons imbued with moonlight as opposed to "Vampiric" weapons.
  • Does all this as a small ESP/ESL plugin, and works just fine on existing saves from my testing.

Compatibility
Obviously won't be compatible with any other mod that overwrites the Vanilla Silent Moons enchantment, meaning you will need to let this plugin overwrite that mod's changes. If the mod adds a completely different enchantment that it makes the Lunar Weapons use, this likely won't be of much help to you, as this simply overwrites the Vanilla one. In that case, you would need another way to get a Vanilla Lunar Weapon.

This does not, however, alter the forge or recipes in any way. I couldn't find the Silent Moons Camp's Forge in SSEEdit to try and overwrite it and add the recipes or crafting conditions there, or I definitely would have. Can actually recommend Lunar Forge Crafting for a simple plug-and-play way to create Lunar Weapons.

Special Thanks
  • To Darenii, for her awesome spell packs, and for the permission to post this!
  • To Elden Ring and Michael Zaki, for the inspiration. This enchantment theming is inspired by the Dark Moon Greatsword, after all. (No swordbeams, though.)

Disclaimer
I am honestly not that experienced with modding yet, so there is the possibility of some unforeseen issues, either in compatibility or something being bugged or unbalanced. If anything doesn't work right, or seems broken in any way, do let me know! I'll try to figure it out if I can!
