Would this script work on a follower that is also altered by another mod? I'm thinking replacing Serana's appearance with a personal favorite replacer of another modded follower, but I also want to use Serana Dialogue Addon, do I just proceed normally or would there be a conflict? Thanks in advance, great mod!
i very much doubt that. you could try using proteus but it will be very dependant on which follower you chose. they could be using special sculpts and meshes that will not carry over.
Hello daubuoibuoi, again, thank you very much for thisscript. It really is changing Skyrim landscape, at least for me. Rather than collecting follower into so many player homes, i prefer replacing regular NPC. I have suggestion to improve this script if possible though, from my use case and trouble.
This is my case. Target for replacements are these mods :
Your script really change the game play landscape for me!!
Room for improvements
This is not the script mistake, it works as intended but there is room for improvement. In my case, I am replacing most Thanedom using Gman749 replacers or follower. Problem arise, when I successfully replace some of the thanedom NPC using Gman749 Whiterun and Riften. Yes, the script works as intended, all their faces and skin are fine.
But then, after going so far replacing most places, I go back visiting whiterun and riften but most NPC turning blue losing their nif and texture. Trying different previous MO2 profile does not change anything, some ladies are still blue or weird faces. Adjusting load order does not change anything……….. until I realise something. All nif and dds are gone. Check your script and there is function to delete records.
So this is what happen in my case.
Example 1 Ysolda in whiterun using bijin (not the target for replacer) > Gman749's Ladies of Whiterun has record for Ysolda replacer > your script transfer it to thanedom NPCS. Success.
Example 2. Jenassa and Irileth using Glam Jennasa and Irileth replacers (not target as well) > Gman749's Ladies of Whiterun has record for Irileth and Jennas replacer > which using your script I transfer it to thanedom NPCs. Success.
But, what your script do, before changing Gman749 Ysolda record to point to an NPC in mymerge thanedom mod. It check existing record, found bijin mod, then it deletes Ysolda texture and mesh in in Bijin mod.
The same goes with Jennasa and Irileth. Your script check existing record, found Glam Jenassa and Irileth replacer mod. Delete its texture and mesh. Then proceed to change the Gman746 Jenassa and irileth record to point to NPC in thanedom mod, also prepare the mesh and texture for NPC in thanedom merged mod. Here Glam Jenassa and Irileth mod becoming victim for the benefit of thanedom mod. And the list goes on ……. Lol.
So my suggestion probably additional logic to the script before execution, asking confirmation to delete found existing texture and meshes.
But regarding all the blue issue, it is solved after I understand the situation. Reinstall the mod or restoring the texture and meshes, or recreate the previous replacers, solved the issue.
This is my two cents… how annoying it is to find one by one the blue or weird face ladies in white run and riften, still your script helps and benefit me a lot.
Hello xD From what I understand (for example, in case 1), you used Ysolda’s record from Gman749's Ladies of Whiterun, but instead of removing the .nif and .dds files from that mod, it ended up deleting files from Bijin, right? So if you place Gman749's Ladies of Whiterun above Bijin in your load order before running the conversion script — so that it prioritizes removing assets from Ladies of Whiterun — would the issue still happen?
Hello daubuoibuoi I've tried again using Gman riften ladies this time to replace an NPC in thanedom, using Ingun from Gman749. The target NPC in thanedom mod successfully gaining new appearance from Gman. But exisiting ingun, losing her texture and meshes. This time the victim is GLAM Ingun mod. No matter the load order.
But, i think this is unique to Gman749 replacer mod. If i use another replacer, or replacer packs, or other follower as replacer, all is fine.
For example, still the same target NPC in thanedom mod, but this time using Nyrified Riverwood using Camilla valerius from Nyrified riverwood mod. It transfer the appearance successfully without touching existing Camilla.
If i use Gman746 whiterun taking Camilla Valerius appearance, the appearance transfer successfully to thanedom NPC, but it deletes existing mesh and texture of Camillia which is from Glam Camillia Valerius mod.
That’s pretty weird. In theory, with most mod managers, the higher a mod is placed in the load order, the more its files take priority — so if a conflict happens and files get deleted, it should remove files from the mod placed earlier, not the one that comes after. Hmm… are you using MO2 or Vortex right now?
I use MO2. It is weird, very weird.... because now the same Gman mod for riften, works fine. touching nothing. Just works as intended. I tried to replicate the case with ingun. Doesn't happen anymore.
Maybe the anomaly happen because i did not save the edited file until everything replaced? or too many replacement in one go? or just my SSEDIT acting weird.....
Or maybe because i adding masters custom voice to replacers?
Inconclusive. I am scratching my head now. At least everything going well now, hopefully..
I tried to reproduce this issue in my modlist, but everything worked as expected (it prioritizes deleting files from the highest-load-order mod). Hopefully, it's just some odd conflict.
I think i found the cause. It happens basically if we somehow make mistake while entering target id, and the script continues deleting the highest load order mod. Then when we try to fix it again by inputting the correct target npc Id, it will repeat deleting the next second highest load order because previous meshes and texture already deleted. At least that's from my understanding.
I replace soo many npc today. I remember i made mistake one, on existing record Evette Solitude from other replacer pack, i forgot to input the target NPC id, click ok on the script prompt, the records on replacer become 00000, made correction by reinsert the correct base ID record for Evette which is 00013273. Then re-run the script to transfer to Thanedom NPC. It transfer Evette appearance successfully to thanedom NPC, but because the highest load order data on meshes and texture already deleted (from replacers it self), then It deleted the second highest order, which is Evette from Bijin. Boom...! Bijin meshes and texture for Evette gone. Case closed. Now i can keep replacing in peace... Thanks Master Daubuoibuoi.
Please provide all the necessary information in the comment I pinned — I won’t be able to help you if any details are missing, as I need to fully understand the context of your issue.
Did the issue occur before you switched the follower/replacer mod ? No
Have you checked for conflicts between your mods and the mod you converted ? Yes everything was normal
Are there any files in the NPC_AssetsOutput folder ? just the meshes and texture folder after SSEdit
Clearly describe the issue you are experiencing: Causing black face default face structure after conversion
Link to the mod that needs to be converted: Sofia Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2180
NPC receiving the appearance—if it's from another mod, provide the link to that mod: TS Heimsker Translation/Retek - Femiwarrior Foxker Link: https://schaken-mods.com/forums/topic/77219-ts-heimsker-translationretek-femiwarrior-foxker/
Clearly state the steps you took for the conversion: Vortex User 1. load both mods in SSEEdit 2. apply script "DB - Transform NPC Appearance V2" on FemaleHeimsker(TS Heimsker Translation/Retek - Femiwarrior Foxker) 3. enter BaseID of Sofia (3d0012c4) 3. enter 0 4. save and exit 5. Open NPC_AssetsOutput and cut the Texture and Meshes 6. Deploy Vortex 7. Paste Texture and Meshes in the TS Heimsker Translation/Retek - Femiwarrior Foxker Vortex Folder 8. Deploy
From what I can see, the steps you followed don’t seem to have any obvious issues. I was planning to download the mods you mentioned to check things myself, but I prefer not to use the Schaken website — so you’ll need to verify it on your own. This mod has been used by many people to replace Sofia’s appearance without problems, so I believe there may still be a conflict on your end. To be sure, try downloading a different follower mod from Nexus and use it to replace Sofia instead. If the issue still happens, then it’s very likely you have a conflict somewhere in your load order.
Try to use this mod on Sofia to check if it works but still crashes on loaded clean save. I even deployed the mods after changes like the tutorial step by step. The replaced is Ahri becuase this mod has ten followers
Check your steps and see if there’s any mistake or conflict in your load order. I downloaded those mods myself and they worked normally. https://iili.io/FqCaDwN.png
Thanks. I figured it out f*#@ing PIECE OF s#*! SMP Spazzing out on that save but thanks for your help awesome mod. One question can you disable the ESP of the follower?

1. Mod Mod that needs to be converted is Meridia by Taranis Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/148177
2. Mod NPC receiving the appearance is Meridia by Igniszath Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/92528
Steps I took for the conversion: 1. load both in SSEEdit 2. apply script "DB - Transform NPC Appearance V2" on 1. Mod 3. enter BaseID of 2. Mod (in this case FE003800) 3. enter 1 or 0 (I entered 1) 4. save and exit 5. go to overwrite folder 6. copy everything inside "NPC_AssetsOutput" into 1. Mod's folder
the 1. Mod is loaded after the 2. Mod that needs to be replaced. in MO2 I can see the files of the 2. mod being overwritten by the 1. Mod. when I do the quest the ball of light looks like this and the follower looks like this.
Hey I've been using this for a while and most are successes, but I can't seem to change Illia's appearance to Vega from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/131610
Illia's appearance changed but she's naked, bald, and her head has a different texture from her body.
i havent try this but 100% sure use in my next install, i love voiced follower with many interactions but they dont have many good replacers, wonder why no one make mod like this before anyway, great mod and wish u best luck
i read the faq and 100% Follow the Detailed Guide. The follower mod can function normally. i checked for conflicts. it have two files, dds and nif
I have successfully converted many mod, some of which have blackface and facial deformities These are two of them.86822(to Wylandriah 00019DEF) 101182 (to Beitild 00013612).
I simply followed the Detailed guide and tried both 1 and 0, except after transferring the files to mod, I deleted NPC_AssetsOutput
sorry for my english.
I just found that the replace versions of these mods can convert normally, but the follower versions do not work. this 68096 fail too but it doesn't have a replace version
I have tested the mods you provided, and they still work normally. If you encounter a black face or distortion, please double-check the copy-paste of the NIF and DDS files and check for conflicts. The issue usually comes down to one of those reasons. Here is an example where I tried converting mod 68096 to Hilde: https://iili.io/3pmNEFa.png
Posting here just wanted to say THANK YOU. Your script saves me! makes everything so simple, even I am totally not fluent with SSEdit and I was able to do it with your script's help in less than 1 minute! Once again, can't say enough, THANK YOU.

Any question about an issue that does not follow this format will NOT receive a response from me.

This is my case. Target for replacements are these mods :
Mod for replacers example:
1. All of Gman749 here. https://www.nexusmods.com/games/skyrimspecialedition/mods?keyword=Gman749&sort=endorsements
2. Herems, Bacetrica, Farodadestin, Nyr...........Plus so many other follower pack and replacer...
Result: Success. All success.
I even change some NPC with other voice for the replacer by using Simply Open Voice (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/92904) and new female guard (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/125124) voice. Seeing all NPC with no voice quest related attached replaced and working fine is very satisfying.
