Filepath on the CACO trees isn't quite right:

    Patch:
    meshes/ccor/byohcitsgreenappletree.nif
    meshes/ccor/plants/citsgreenappletree.nif
    meshes/ccor/plants/citsredappletree.nif

    CACO paths:
    meshes/ccor/plants/byohcitsgreenappletree.nif
    meshes/ccor/plants/harvestables/citsgreenappletree.nif
    meshes/ccor/plants/harvestables/citsredappletree.nif

Confused when reading your description, I use JK's Skyrim but not the city outskirts... I think the trees are only in the later?

thx, been playing the game for years and used JK's for like ever... shows how often I go to Rorikstead and really look around. Maybe tired of listening about Ragnar? ;-)

Doesn't work for me. Placed it after JK's Skyrim, but still have the ugly vanilla trees. Is there some other prerequisite I'm missing?

Sick, this was on my list of mods I wanted to get around to making eventually to replace CACO apple trees. Now I don't have to. :)

I just renamed the mesh and it works fine, atleast with Skyrim Anniversary - Growable Plants, it does.

I found the meshes in the files of the anniversary edition. I have added an optional replacer for it. Thanks for the hint.

ok maybe a silly question do i need the main file fir the optional file to work?..because its getting overwritten by Caco and all its patches ive shifted it in my load order top to bottom

Whatever file gives you an overwrite of CACO, is the one you need. In order to have an overwrite you have to have a file of the exact same name in the exact same folder structure. So the fact that you downloaded one of these files and are recieving an overwite tells you it is the one you need. It also needs to be the one doing the overwriting , not being the one being overwritten.

Look at it this way there are NO apple trees in vanilla. CACO uses commonly avalable (old, ugly) resorces to add apple trees to the game, just like JK's mods, Bruma has the same trees, and Skyrim Anniversary - growable plants all use the same mesh. They may all be named something different and be in differnt folders but they are all exactly the same model. This mod makes a new model which is a direct replacement for that old mesh.  So the fact that you have any overwrites means the new model is named the exact same and in the exact same folder structure, which means it is already a proper working patch, reguardless of what it says it works with or is a patch for.

The reason it must be the file doing the overwriting, if you let something overwrite it , you just downloaded a redundant mod. CACO adds ugly Apple trees, you download this mod to overwite the ugly trees(because thats how mods work, replace something with a better version) than you let a patch for CACO overwite it back to what CACO added, just means you like and want to keep the ugly old trees, and like downloading and keeping redundant mods in your loadorder.

Since this mod uses custom textures in a folder structure only used by other Blubbo's tree mods, there is zero chance that the overwrite is from the textures. Since it has no .esp file there is zero chance it is from the .esp file. It is from a loose file mesh designed to replace the original, if all your CACO mods are still packed in BSAs it will replace them like designed reguardless of your loadorder. Only if you unpacked the original CACO BSA or have a patch that includes loose files to make sure CACO wins any conlficts with other mods does loadorder matter in that case. And again a loose file causing an overwrite means it is modifing (or overwriting) the original.

You could get a rare case where CACO adds the apple tree records and says to use its mesh, than you load this mod to overwrite it's mesh, but a patch down the line say no...no I have a better mesh use mine instead, making the CACO mesh redundant, and overwriting that mesh also redundant. But in that case the game would just continue on doing what it did before. The CACO mesh would never get loaded by you mod manager because of the overwrite of this mod, and this mods mesh would get loaded but never used because an esp\patch is saying use a different one.

The best way to test would be plant an apple tree, than load this mod and see if it swaps, if the game crashes or won't load(highly unlikely) just uninstall this mod, until a solution is found.

Most of patches for CACO (including ones I made myself) are just replacing outdated meshes for better ones thru direct mesh replacements.(overwrite with no esp) mostly harmless to try.

Alot are undoing changes (turning off features) made by CACO thru an .esp for better intergraton with other mods. CACO adds alot of new items , more than 2/3rds of them have become redundant because of other mods most people run anyway. You most likely have a CACO/AE or rare curiosities patch, which just makes CACO use the much better models and textures for many of the item already included in the now standard AE edition. These 25 or so Items are now vanilla, so loading CACO messes them up with worse models and textures, than your patching them back to vanilla. (.esp patch placed after CACO) These are the one that break saves or cause all kind of weird things to happen if you change them.

Some forward changes undone by other mods. CACO has thousands of world edits (mostly placed plants and critter spawn), every location overhaul overwrites all those changes in that areas and needs a patch to put them back. (.esp patch placed after the conflicting mod) mostly harmless, but sometimes the items don't come back (usally due to mistmatched mod\patch versions, like the main mod switching to an ESL but the patch is for the older .esp version)

And a few make features CACO has, actally work, you would be supprised how many features it suposed to have that don't work in a 100% vannilla game. I'm not sure if they are just left over "Feature Bloat", never funtioned at all , constant updates to the base game broke them over time or that are so compicated and niche the average player will never figure them out. Some of them add additional features if other mods are present in your loadorder, but most of those mods never got properly ported to SE\AE or have been surpassed by much better mods.

is a CACO patch possible or can anyone tell me how to make one?would it be as simple as renaming blubbos mesh to match CACO mesh and replace for Caco and all patches or more complicated then that..thank you

It may be enough to rename the file. I'll take a look at the CACO file tomorrow and make a patch for it.
