    Locked
    Sticky
    QUIETER DUNGEONS AND UNDEAD (NEW)

Added a new variation to choose between. The new file will do the same as the original, but also stop the following sounds:
    - Draugrs breathing
    - Draugrs growling when they notice you
    - Draugr footsteps
    - Skeletons breathing
    - Skeleton footsteps

Now when you are in a dungeon you will have to pay more attention as you won't hear them waiting, or walking up behind you. Prepare to scream a lot, lol.

No idea why this is just now showing up for me, I've been searching for years to silence those stupid annoying noises in dungeons. I don't mind the draugr, it's the random bang, clonk, ping and whistle that annoys me. Wind and dripping water is fine. If this works as I hope it will, I'll be back to endorse.....

Update: Mod is not working, there's nothing to overwrite and it's at the end of the load order, activated but the noises are still there.  Sigh, the search continues :/

Something must be wrong with the install. What mod manager are you using?

I still play Skyrim and, of course I am using this, and don't have all the stupid dungeon/cave noise. So I am super surprised that its not working for you.

Here is a "light" alternative : Quieter Interiors

(for those who do not want total silence, but simply reduce the interiors sounds)

Dont take me wrong. I may well decide to load and install this when I am so done with the vanilla game I am ready and willing to lose the eligibility for accomplishments because I am such a huge fanatic for realism and immersion. However, the reason why Bethesda eventually added all the "foolish and unnecessary" noise to places that are dark, creepy and possibly hostile/dangerous could be that they did not intend this to be a horror game unsuitable for seniors who cannot endure jump scares or scream scares. It is very possible some of the oldest among Elder Scrolls gamers no longer have their hearts in a perfect condition. They may even have their first couple of myocardial infarctions behind them. Maybe they became Elder Scrolls fans in their late forties when Morrowind was the word of the day.

Feels like a must have, but sadly it does not only edits dungeons and caves, but also the exterior. Wasn't sure if my headphones were unplugged at first.

I still hear exterior wind. A clash with another of your mods perhaps.

He's got a point, though. This mod cancels most ambient noise in the overworld. From time to time you may hear a wind gust, but not the general ambience loop that sounds in the background, resulting in moments of dead silence at times. Disabling the mod makes the ambience come back.

Still, a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Wandering into an eerily quiet dungeon with the mod that turns all the lights off is an amazing VR experience.

    Works great in VR! Endorsed.
Never realized I needed this mod until I tried it. Dungeon-delving is definitely much creepier and less irritating now.

Hallelujah! Definitely a must have alongside wind begone and death/ragdoll ambient sound removal.

But this one is by far my favorite because previously the stupidly deep bass would make my speakers rattle. Thanks to the mod author!

    Hello friend.

I use your mod when you first published it on LE Skyrim.

There is an error on packaging the mod.

The undead version does not contain the silence.wav file.

Instead it contains two times the amb_silent.wav

This mod has been available for a long time and I have never had it reported as crashing the game.

Seriously, its not crashing the game, but just before the game loads i.e opens into the world, the game CTD! never had an issue with a sound mod before?

If i disable it in Vortex, the game loads no probs.......so frustrating i was really wanting this for ages

These are the only sound mods i have.

      Immersive sounds-Compendium
      Lucidity Sound FX
      Sounds of Skyrim-Civilization

So frustrating, i've even tried loading it after said sound mods, and still it CTD just before going into game, with 207 mods installed, its impossible for me to know which one it doesn't like!! I spent a day previously trying to find the sound file with the most annoying loud wind tunnel sound, thought id found it, removed it and still it didnt work, the sound still plays in my dungeons!! so i was over the moon to find this mod. dam shame

Edit: just a thought, it wouldnt be because i removed a few sound files manually before that is causing the problem would it??

Ok, ive done some testing and found the culprit.
'Immersive sounds compendium SSE 2.2' is the issue. This is a massive shame, because its probably the most popular all in one sound overhaul for SSE and brings so much into the game i couldn't be without it.

I would be hugely grateful if you could update a patch for use with the said mod, as i really need quiet dungeons!!

Because my mod doesn't remove any sound files, it just makes the cave / dungeon sounds silent, I can't see how it would cause a ctd. How did you delete the sound files manually? Did you use Creation Kit, or just delete them from the SoundFX folder? If the game is trying to play a particular sound and you have deleted it I think that may cause a CTD.

First thing I would try is to uninstall all the sound mods and reinstall them (with my mod being the last one you install)

Hello mate, i get what your saying, i did think it myself. Sometime ago, the whole 'white noise' annoyed me so much, i went searching through the sound files to find the culprits...I ended finding a few of the most annoying ones and manually removed those files and chucked them in new folder on my drive...this did nothing, they were still present?, anyhow, figuring your mod might be searching for them then crashing (though it wouldn't actually let me enter the game because it CTD just a second before entering the game, i validated my game files again.

With this done, i tried again with the same result, a CTD. So, i uninstalled all three of my sound mods (listed above), and just enabled yours, game starts no probs, so i enabled SoS-Civ with yours...no probs, enabled Lucidity aswell, no probs, But as soon as i enable Immersive sounds comp it CTD before entering,
This makes sense, as Immersive sounds comp effects dungeon noises.

So it would seem there is a incompatibility with your mod and Immersive sounds, Perhaps you could try installing the two together and see if you have the same problem.

      Thanks for your time

Edit: I tried completely uninstalling Immersive sounds and yours, then re-installed Immersive sounds (not selecting their ambient dungeon sound replacers), then re-installed yours....same CTD just before entering game! (also note my save game is actually in a forest, not cave/dungeon)?

The problem is that I no longer use SE as I prefer the look of the original Skyrim. I don't know what Bethesda did to the graphics, but SE just can't match LE with an ENB. So I can't test its compatibility with Immersive sounds, sorry.
EDIT: I see that it is available on LE. I'll download it and see if it creates the same errors
2nd EDIT: Installed the LE version and have no issues with compatibility. Both mods working as they should. I know this doesn't necessarily translate to the SE version, but I would be surprised, if after all the time that these two mods have been available, that no-one else has reported compatibility issues if they clash.
      Things to try:
      1. Start a new game and see if it CTDs, or
      2. Try merging Immersive Sounds with Quieter Dungeons and Caves to see if that resolves their issues (make sure you allow Quieter Dungeons to overwrite ISC files or you'll just end up with noisy dungeons again)
If you haven't merged mods before, then Gamer Poets has a good tutorial on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S6cpCwTezE

Ok thanks ill try and merge.

      Edit.Success!!!!!!
I dug out the sound files that i removed a while ago and put them back in.....loaded first time !!!!
It was clearly trying to find them and CTD because it couldn't...which surprises me

Anyway, it look to be fine thanks for your help

Edit: Works a treat, thanks endorsed!!
