Can confirm this works as of ver. 1.6.1170.
Install the mod. Go in game, make a new save. Restart the game to see the new save is now under character name.

Edit. Was working before I used ReSaver. No longer works for some reason.

On GOG v 1179 this doesn't change anything in the savenames, the filenames just have the user supplied custom name.
Did a full reinstall of the Visual C++ redistributable to make sure, no errors in the skse.log.

The custom named save is not working anymore if i use this mod.
Save the game with BlaBlaGame name and if i try to load the game its a full different random something named save...

    Deleted.

Underscores in Cell Editor IDs break save sorting in SkyrimSE.PSASo, for those who aren't aware, there's a 'bug' where saves made in certain mod-added cells don't get sorted under the character name, and can only be seen by clicking 'Show All Saves' from the main menu. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why it affected some mods but not others, and xEdit never showed any errors in them. But the answer is painfully obvious: It is apparently caused by saving in a cell which has an underscore in its Editor ID.My best guess as to why this happens is that the game formats the filename for saves as a sequence of strings separated by underscores, like so Save9_7E3D95DF_1_536F72656E_YsDC_DwemerCubeCell_000127_20161201093319_1_1.esswhere 'YsDC_DwemerCubeCell' is the editor ID of the cell in which the save was made. So it appears that having an underscore in the middle of the editor ID confuses the game when it tries to parse the filename to figure out how to sort it. It is worth noting that no vanilla cells use underscores in their editor IDs.I can confirm that removing the underscores in the cell editor IDs in xEdit fixed the issue for all the mods I had that were being affected.

there's a synthesis patch that will go through your modlist and remove all underscores from cell names in your load order

Just install Synthesis and find a patcher in the downloader named "CellEditorID" fix or something along the lines.

Instructions on using Synthesis are in Synthesis's GitHub.

By the way, CellEditorID patch doesn't compile on latest version of Synthesis (0.35), so after you add the patch to your patchers list you need to click on CellEditorID patch in the left pane to change the version to compile with:
      1. Set Mutagen version to Manual: 0.44
      2. Set Synthesis version to Manual: 0.28

Once it compiles, just run all your patchers as usual.

Yes, this happens in my game when I save in the places added by the Hunt Of Hircine mod, the author forgot to remove the underscores in the location's Editor IDs, or he just didn't know that adding them would cause a problem...

Installed today and created a save called "group_fix". Is that '_' breaking things too?
I ask because my 1nd attempt at a save through console I created "pre_dream" as I was considering adding a mod dream related. I checked the load menu and it listed 2 saves called "group_fix". Tried a 3rd and just called it "dream" and now I have 3 in the load menu called "group_fix".
I turned off the game and re-launched. Now I have 2 saves called dream.
Using Vortex and I see "dream.ess",  "group_fix.ess" and "pre_dream" under the save games tab.
I re-launched the game and went to load a save from my current character and among the normal saves, I see 3 listed as "dream".

    EDIT:
I created a save and called it "trial" (and now see 4 "dream" files in game)
I deleted the 2 saves in Vortex that I created with an '_'.
Now in Vortex, I see "trial" and "dream".
In game load menu, I see "dream" and "dream"
I checked under "C:\Users\NAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Saves" and the other saves were indeed gone. I guess my saves with '_' were not the cause.
I also just noticed that they're all being numbered strangely. Re-using save numbers that already exist.
When I still had 4, they were all
    1 dream
even though I already had a save #1
After deleting the 2 with the '_', Now I have
    1 dream
    2 dream
    2 Skyrim
    etc.

    1.6.1170
    tons of mods

    Update:
Removed mod, created 2 different saves
Neither is under my character but in the load menu under "show all saves" they both exist with their own names.
  8. Dude... this has been bothering me a ton, I had no idea how to even go about fixing it or searching for a solution, this is an absolute miracle find, thank you

Can confirm it works flawlessly on .353, too, which is great.  It seems to be version independent.

    Fantastic
