Version 2.0
Removed more protected flags, otherwise protected status still applies to stabled horses. Safe to update from 1.0, just overwrite.
Removes "Protected" status from your horse, so it's no longer invincible vs enemies. "Convenient Horses" mod is REQUIRED.
First of all, huge thanks to Tobias44142 for figuring out how to fix this (and being thoughtful enough to write back to me since I had written lamenting this issue over a month beforehand).
For the longest time I was under the impression that (owned) horses COULD be killed by enemies in the Convenient Horses mod, because I had "tested" this by killing the horse myself. The problem is, with the "protected" flag, which is what CH uses, yes the player character can kill the NPC, but the NPC (your horse) is invincible to all others (not invulnerable, but invincible, meaning they can take health damage, but can't die). Once I figured this out, it it really bothered me and felt like a cheat. I want to have to think about how to keep my horse out of harm's way, or think twice about charging into crazy battles on horseback, but couldn't figure out how to fix this.
Anyways, thanks to Tobias44142, now I know how, and have done so, and in case anyone else is a glutton for difficulty and immersive pain like me, figured I should share it. It's a couple tweaks to the quests for CH, stopping it from adding the protected flag to your horses. It works even on an existing playthrough (at least it did on mine).
