For anyone curious, I brought up the issue to Praedyth that in LOTD's Night at the Museum quest, the haunted version of the library gets about 10 of the small book stacks added. When using Lux especially, there are four shadowcasting lights active in the library.. so the high number of shapes in the regular piles, which work fine in Apocrypha, will explode your drawcalls and set your computer on fire during the LOTD quest, more or less. At my request he made the low-poly ones that will have the same negligible performance hit as the vanilla piles but still look better.
I don't use BCS as a substitute for books, instead I have another mod. And I also have purple textures in the Apocrypha. Do I need to install BCS and your fixes?
Would you consider dropping the dependency for Book Covers Skyrim mainly because its outdated not maintained and requires fair amount of manual patching which i don't want to do it.
EDIT: you just need the textures from BCS, but you may need to extract the BSA to loose files, if you're not using the plugin as well. That way, no need to patch everything else for BCS.
One of the texture sets (the one used for book walls) was made using the books from BCS, i handplaced every single one of them in the exact position as the vanilla ones among others things, i will not go through this process again with another set of book textures, sorry.
At best you could overwrite the BCS textures with the ones you want to use, but the bookwall and piles will still use covers from BCS no matter what.
