Love this mod, it makes my game more deadly when spamming by water escape from enemies thank you for it!!
I read your comment on the mod "DWCD lower chance" and was curious if I could change DWCD_GLOB_ResistanceModifier to 85 and DWCD_GLOB_DiseaseResistanceMult to .15 in xedit to properly lower the chance of getting diseases and building resistance or will I screw it up?
Would saving these changes ruin the mod or would it be better to make a patch with these changes and keep your mod above it. I'm just now learning the ins and outs of patching and xedit
Random number between 1 and 100 > (Disease Resistance Actor Value * DWCD_GLOB_DiseaseResistanceMult) + DWCD_GLOB_ResistanceModifier - Potential Penalties
So to answer your question, yes, changing the values to what you mentioned will decrease the chance of getting a disease.
AFAIK on an existing save, changing the global variables through xEdit will only take effect, if you haven't altered the variables through console commands before, on that save.
If you have set these values through console commands on that save, you'll need to start a new game, in order for the xEdit edits to take effect.
It does, although I'm not exactly sure how it's implemented - I'm also not sure it covers simply getting into the water. I had been using Sunhelm but switched a while back and just realized I still have your mod in the load order. My guess is they'll run concurrently and maybe cover some areas the other one doesn't, but I'm not sure exactly how it's implemented and if I'm only going to see one mod's effects in-game. I'll keep playing for now, just more reason not to drink from random water sources out in the wild just like in real life. Now how it interacts with some bathing mods is another thing to look into.
This is really cool! I want to make a nightmare tropical setting, so if you ever feel like making a version the affects all non ocean areas that would be amazing. But anyway thanks for the incredible work.
question regarding global records in your mod. disease resistance is probably responsible for inflicting disease chance but what does disease resistancemult do if you don't mind me asking :)
nice to see some love for disease mechanic. I also made a disease extension mod to give the effects to more races and tweak some of their effects like ataxia turning from a useless disease to damage health regen disease. it was a personal tweak at first because I'm not a game developer but I liked it so much then I decided to share it. I'm gonna install this later as well, finally items with disease resistance will be interesting!
oh yeah that's a nice and complex disease overhaul, I remember I installed a disease overhaul that used yours(or maybe the LE mod) as a base then tweaked it further but in the end it was too much for me with too much book finding and recipe making. in the end I preferred vanilla simple disease mechanic but I like this new mod of yours dirty water carries disease, more of vanilla disease and making morthal's swamps a dirty place to traverse as it should have been! also I recently installed Underwater Blackreach, now it will be fun to explore there.
