    Version 0.3 uploaded.

Dragon Priests are now leveled, with a minimum level of 50, and a maximum of 200. They'll take less damage from NPCs, and can now shout.

Any feedback on the changes is welcome. Not sure if I should buff them more, or if I'm at a good balance now.

    Version 0.4 uploaded.

Buffed resistances a bit more, and added a few more shouts (total of 5 now). Haven't actually seen them use shouts in testing though, not sure why.

Just a little update. Shouts still aren't working, but at least now I know why. I have an idea of how to fix it, I just need to figure out how to do it. So hopefully shouts will be working in the next update.

i wanted this to work - i wanted the to be more deadly.
but i just ran up to one, melee'd the heck out of him, he really didnt even try to cast any spells, maybe a couple the whole combat.
seems like he lost his will to fight..

and if i back off of melee range, he starts to fight again, but if i just stay up close in his face beating on him, he has no clue what to do , just stands there taking all the hits.

i tried this mod Unagressive Dragon Priests fix, that mod is total b.s. it does nothing. with that installed the dragon priest was more passive than before.

i hope you can address this issue of passive dragon priests, and their weakness to upfront melee.

Are you using Wildcat as I recommended in the description? That should be making the AI more responsive and aggressive.

While not technically required, this mod was intended for use with Wildcat (or something similar).

with great hopes.. i installed wildcat. i went to find the nearest dragon priest spawn that i know of.

in Dimhollow Crypt. towards the end. where there is a throne and a little arena, by the word-wall.

there is a random Draugr Lord or a Dragon Priest, either or. usually a dragon priest spawns there at really high levels.

i'm using High Level Enemies , in the description of this mod it says :
"Adds 874 new enemies with optional level scaling to Skyrim. Includes Bandits, Forsworn, Draugr, Falmer, Vampires, Warlocks, Cultists, Rieklings, Dragon Priests, Gargoyles, Animals and more! "

they are adding a generic dragon priest to the encounters list.. thats what i encountered. not a named boss dragon priest.

I went up to him with my fists, I closed in on him fast. I stayed in melee range punching.
He tried to move back a little to gain some space, but he never pulled out or equipped a single spell.
He just kept trying to move back, while i just moved forward.
      Wildcat Solved nothing.

I never used High Level Enemies, it didn't exist when I made this mod. It may be using its own Dragon Priests, or overwriting my mod's Dragon Priests.

the person that made this mod just updated it. works perfectly fine now with wildcat.
      everything is Good-To-Go .

      that's always a possibility.

A bolt of chain-lightning rips through the stale air of Ragnvald.  As the draugr collapse into charred piles, I think back to how long a journey it was to get here.
So many failed spells, miscasts, and narrow scrapes.  So many giants or goats summoned due to a careless mistake, so many days spent laid-up at a healer after a fireball exploded in my hand.  Countless nights curled up in cramped quarters, studying a spell book until the words crossed and ran together.
I open another door, and am greeted by the foul, stale stench of more crypt air, and the sharp warnings of the draugr.  Another chain-lightning bolt cracks through the air and they fall silent.  I wasn't bothering to sneak -- Candlelight lit my way, and Dragonskin would block all but the strongest of physical hazards.  As for magic, skill and blessings of divine provenance had rendered me utterly immune to it.  Spells were simply absorbed, and their magicka siphoned off for my own use.  My Arch-Mage robes, once the source of such potent imposter syndrome, had worn-in nicely.
The second skull-key sat waiting on a pedestal - sitting for thousands of years for some fool adventurer to come along and get killed after taking it.  Humph.  I flick my left hand over to Telekinesis, and with it, grab the skull; the coffins spring open.
    *Crack!*  *Crack!*
The draugr collapse, barely a step or two into their ambush.  I stroll up and loot around for anything of interest.  A modest war axe catches my eye, glowing faintly of a flame enchantment with a low potency, but a duration that persisted as long as the victim was under direct threat.  Could be an interesting utility, so I sling it on my belt.
Right.  Time to go unseal that locked sarcophagus in the main chamber and end this ancient evil for good.
    ***
I place both skull keys in their receptacles, the semi-circle lock bands slide back, and the lid pops open.  With a ghastly hiss, the Dragon Priest Otar emerges, staff in-hand.  I fling a couple of chain-lightning bolts at him, fearless of his return casts.  The room echoes and the air crackles and sizzles with our volleys.  When the smoke clears, we are both unscathed.

We pause for a moment.  I stand there blinking like a Novice.  This had never happened before...  We snap a few spells at each other, idly.  Apparently I wasn't the only one who had, at some point, found a way to become immune to magic.
My mind races - I have no skill in melee weapons.  The only one I have is the axe I looted earlier, but I can't simply leave this monster to run amok in the countryside.  And what a humiliation it would be to have to go hire some mercenary to do what I, grand Arch-Mage, could not figure out.  In an attempt to maintain relations with the Town of Winterhold, I had avoided studying too deeply into Conjuration, so summoning a minion to deal physical damage was not available.
My eyes flit about the arena, and something glints in the darkness.  A battle-axe, left by some felled draugr.  A flash of inspiration alights my mind, and I flick a hand to telekinesis again.  I had spent some time trying to adapt the spell to be as much a weapon as a utility, but had not had cause to test it.
    Until now.
I reach out, and call the battleaxe to my hand, hovering it just under my palm.  Easy does it preparing the edge alignment, and with a flick of the wrist, the axe shoots across the hall and strikes Otar in the chest.  The impact is shallow, and the blade clatters to the floor, but the wound is clear.  A couple dozen strikes like that would do it, but as I watch, some unholy force knits the undead flesh back together, and the wound is nullified in moments.  It wouldn't be enough...
My left hand lights on the axe.
If his magic absorb didn't neutralize the enchantment, it might give me the edge I need against his regenerative ability.  I reach out to the battle-axe and call it back, then flick my wrist and send it careening forward again.  I am unconcerned with edge alignment, as the attack merely needs to stun him long enough to close and land a blow to set the enchantment.  As the flat of the blade slams against the Priest, I am already closing the gap.  My melee swings are careless and heavy; the first hits poorly and glances off, but the second lands the enchantment.  I leap back, cautious of an unforeseen physical attack, but there is none.
With both hands attuned to telekinesis, I reach out into the darkness, feeling for discarded weapons, and there are plenty.  I fling a sword at the lich, the blade striking somewhat shallowly into his chest before clattering to the floor again.  But this time, the fibers of undead flesh burn as they try to re-knit.  They would overcome the fire spell, but slowly.  Slowly enough.
I reach out for another weapon, a greatsword, quickly align it and flick it at the Priest, grabbing for another before the first blade had even clattered to the floor.  Another battle-axe, and another, an arming sword, another greatsword - he dodges.  I grab a shield and fling it at his masked face, stunning him.  I grab at the weapons scattered near his feet, cascading them one after another as the shallow cuts build up.  The room fills with an awful cacophony of clattering blades.  One after another, again and again.
And finally the perforated and tattered flesh gives way.  With a low, haunting sigh, Otar disintegrates and collapses into a pile of dust as the unholy magic finally loses its grip on the ruined flesh.
I bask in the moment for a time.  This kind of feeling of accomplishment did not come often, these days.

just tried morokai at level 45, i can deal with the fact that he seemed to have over 10k health and that his cloak spell did about 100 damage per second
and he seemed to be immune from the fear affect from dawnbreaker
AND he took control over anything i summoned

but the health regen is just too high, it's near enough instant to the point where if i stopped attacking him, his health was back to full straight away
i could only attack him with magic so i needed short breaks to regen magicka only to find, barely a second later, the 2k damage i just dealt is gone

you describe it as a small health regen but it's insanely high

I haven't played Skyrim for years, so there may be some issues with the mod. It's intended for use with mods that make combat more realistic (ie most enemies die in one or two hits), like Wildcat (not even sure if that mod is still a thing, or if better mods that do the same are available), and those who also use multiple followers.

So if you're not using a realistic combat/damage mod, and multiple followers, then this mod will very likely be extremely unbalanced. The goal was the provide a challenging fight while using those other mods. Without this mod, Dragon Priests died just as easily as a generic Draugr when using Wildcat.

not what i thought it was. i was hoping this mod would improve dragon priest ai by making them attack more rather than just stand around with a cloak, while also adding a stat buff but they still stand around for the most part but now they have regeneration that gives majin buu a run for his money. i dare you to go to shearpoint and fight the dragon priest there with such regeneration while he runs down the mountain and regains what little damage he took. i legit chased him all the way to the plains of whiterun before i gave up and used console to kill him. honestly if the mod author removed the regeneration the mod would be much better.

Think of it as a DPS check to make sure your character is actually ready to take-on a threat of that caliber.  I actually had Otar, I think, act as a catalyst for most of a playthrough.  My character unsealed him, unleashing him on the world, only to discover she didn't have what it took to defeat him, which not only gave credence to why he was sealed away to begin with, but then motivated the character to go join the Dawnguard to learn ways to deal with powerful undead.  Finally, after visiting oblivion, and slaying 2 ancient vampires, I had the tools and the capability to fairly easily succeed where I had failed before.  It created a nice overarching storyline.

Vokun was indestructible. Even master destruction spells didnt even take 1 health from him. I had to use the kill command to progress

Sounds like he was probably using spell absorption, which means you'll need to find a way around it...

I like the idea of this but it seems a bit off.  I ran sse edit to check for conflicts and there are none showing except this over writing skyrim and the unofficial patch.  I did see a dragon priest use a shield once and a couple times shot a big red ball or those homing water spouts but mostly just shoots a basic icicle over and over that doesn't do that much damage combined with an electric dome that has low damage as well. The regeneration is pretty cool but super fast. probably at least 100hp per sec.  I think it would be tougher if they were more aggressive with stronger spells but slower regen.  I can kind of stand in front of them and dance around taking hits without too much fear. and as long as I keep wailing on them to prevent regeneration I win pretty easy.  this is with me at level 50 and the dragon priest at level 76.  If they did at least 75 damage or more per spell and didn't sit still looking confused it would be pretty tough.  Not trying to be unappreciative just sharing my experience.
