Do this only if you dont have the mod installed yet, otherwise it requires new game. Because if you change .esp to pseudo-esl (espfe / light plugin) during current playthrough, it will break/corrupt your current save. Do this only if you havent installed the mod yet or are starting a new playthrough. 1. Open SSEdit (or xEdit) (preferably through Mod Organizer 2) 2. Select QuickLight.esp (preferably only this one, otherwise it will load all other mods, that takes a while) 3. In menu on the left, select QuickLight.esp and rightclick on it, select the option "Compact FormIDs for ESL", then click "yes" if it asks you to confirm your choice. 4. Left click on QuickLight.esp on left side of screen, a menu in middle shows up. Under the "Record header" section, find 3rd from top called "Record Flags", double click it, list will appear, from there, tick the option "ESL". 5. Save the changes by tapping CTRL+S (or close the SSEdit and it will ask you if you want to save your changes)
Boom, you have yourself a light plugin...or espfe...or pseudo-esl...whatever works for ya.
I presume you've already done this but the method by Inquizit0r works great (manual). I like ESPFE Follower script by MaskedRPGFan which is in a stable state. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/56396?tab=description. It's more a comprehensive xEdit script than Ruddy's though you do have to be aware of what you're flagging.
Using a darker ReShade preset that made it impossible to even see some of my followers in some player homes, etc. Hated carrying around a personal lantern, (having them carry one worked, but it's a pain making them take it off and it kinda looks stupid walking around a player home with it) tried various facelights that mostly made some of them look like a bad dream, etc. Finally said, fine, I'll give this a try. It's just what I needed. Thank you.
I'm having a problem were the light/lantern goes away when I move. When I activate the key it appears and as long as I don't move I have light, but then when I move it goes away. Has anyone experienced the same problem and can advise me?
Awesome little mod that desperately needs an update. The lights cause terrible visual bugs for me, so it seems like I'll be sticking to vanilla torches and Magelight.
That doesn't have anything to do with a mods "age." Age doesn't mean anything for mods. If it works it works. That sounds like an issue with your setup
If you have ENB have you installed the Quick Light patch from the ENB Light mod? - its really easy to miss when you are installing it. If you havent you will get funky light problems. I have used this mod for years with no problems whatever light mod I have installed so def something in your setup causing the problem. Hope its the ENB thing as its an easy fix for you Thanks for the brill mod BTW tktk

Game and prerequisite mod updates that come with the passage of time break mods all the time. The time since "last updated" has a significant correlation with whether a mod will work on a modern setup or not.
Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but the light stops working when used with a weapon with an fire enchantment. Still troubleshooting to see if its from an incompatibility.
Is there a way to have it respond ONLY to the hot key?
Also, even when I'm not touching the activation button it will switch on randomly. Ruined a great sneak on a dragon. Seriously, I was almost within striking distance when >pop< there's the light and the dragon eyeballing me. Fortunately, Lydia is a beast in battle.
I love the idea, but with the above issue... yeah, no. I'm keeping it but inactive unless it gets fixed and updated. Hopefully as an ESL or ESPFE... I lack the skills to do it for myself.
That's not an issue with this mod, that is an issue with your setup of mods. I don't know why people think that stuff like this is the mods fault. Plenty of people used this and the vast majority don't have this issue.

It is a model for other modders about a simple and efficient mod from the player point of view.
Endorsed.

Edit: It was because of VAE on my end.
