= Modification Premise =
========================
Do you desire immortality? Thinking you can just control what you do as a vampire? It does not work that way. You die, and a demon sets up shop in your old house. It walks as you did, it talks as you did, and it remembers your life; however it is not you.
>> WARNING.
DO NOT CLEAN THIS MOD WITH SSEEDIT. THIS MOD HAS
ALREADY BEEN CLEANED AND ANY CHANGES ARE INTENTIONAL
AND NECESSARY FOR THE MOD TO FUNCTION PROPERLY.
CONTAINS NO ITMs AND UDRs.
=========================
= Beginning Your Unlife =
=========================
A disease that a mortal can contract by being hit with vampire magic, this magic has a chance of infecting the target by seeping into his bloodstream which creates a potent virus. If the infected individual should die with the Sanguinare Vampiris disease in his blood, he will begin the process of becoming a vampire.
The disease itself takes 3 days to wear off, after which there is no longer a chance for the infected to become a vampire unless they are re-infected with Sanguinare Vampiris another time.
>> Vampiris Transformation.
After you awaken from death it is time to begin your unlife, you have acquired a lesser power called Vampiris Transformation. This power will allow you to switch between your human appearance and your vampiric one. This transformation is at will and can be done whenever the vampire pleases. This mod allows the player to:
- Join the Dawnguard and retain your Vampire Status
- Have both a Human appearance and a Vampiric one
*** BEWARE: While in Vampiris Form you will be attacked on sight by NPCs ***
>> Going Feral.
Becoming feral is just about the worst thing that can occur to a vampire. When in this state the vampire has lost total control over his vampire side and is stuck with his vampire side revealed until he feeds on either a Human or an Animal. This means:
- Entering cities will be extreamly difficult as NPCs will attack you on sight
- The sun is now DEADLY towards you and will kill you in prolonged exposure
The 2 ways of turning Feral are:
- Age: As a young vampire you have the chance of going feral because you lack the necessary experience that would give you total control over your vampiric side.
- Starvation: When your blood pool gets depleted you enter what is known as a 'Starved' state, which increases your chances of becoming feral.
>> The Hunger.
The feeding mechanics have been gutted are reworked from scratch. No longer are they connected with Vampire Progression; now it is connected with what it should have been connected to since the beginning... a hunger for blood. All vampire powers delve into your 'Blood Pool', the more you use your vampire powers the more blood you consume from your own body. When a vampire is low on blood they enter a 'Starving' state which then affects them negatively by:
- Increasing the chances of turning Feral
>> The Blood Pool.
It is the amount of blood that you have access to at any given time, when you first turn into a vampire you have access to 20% of your blood pool meaning that you should feed shortly after turning into a vampire to regenerate yourself to the full strength of your vampirism. The blood pool dictates:
- How many times you can use your vampire powers
- How soon you need to feed
When you have around 20% remaining in your blood pool, once every in game hour NPCs will flash red and a heartbeat sound will play indicating that you are being tempted to feed. Ignoring these signs increases the chances of turning Feral.
>> Becoming a Master.
As a vampire you begin your unlife as a Fledgling; as you grow in age you grow stronger acquiring both better powers, and the abilities to shake off randomly becoming Feral as you gain control of your vampiric side. Your weaknesses as a vampire also decrease with age meaning that you have more weaknesses as a Fledgling than when you become a Master Vampire. The stages of vampirism are:
- Vampire Fledgling: No Requirements
- Vampire Childe: 25 Necks Bitten, 10 Days as a Vampire
- Vampire Nightseer: 250 Necks Bitten, 30 Days as a Vampire
- Master Vampire: 500 Necks Bitten, 50 Days as a Vampire
=========================
= The Ancient Bloodline =
=========================
A bloodline of vampires who're granted the ancient blood of Molag Bal; these vampires have the ability to transform themselves into monstrous vampiric forms at the sacrifice of their humanity, losing the ability to blend into society.
>> The Ancient Blooded.
Vampires who have the ancient blood of Molag Bal however, they have not shut off their Humanity and given themselves over completely to their demon half preventing them from taking on the form as a Turok-Han.
>> The Humanity Switch.
This switch exists in the mind of the vampire, however it remains veiled as only those who are part of this ancient bloodline can utilize it's power. By turning off their humanity they completely subjugate themselves to Molag Bal allowing them to transform into Turok-Han vampires. A regular vampire does not have access to this switch, only a vampire who is bitten by a Turok-Han can shut their humanity off and begin transforming into a Turok-Han themselves.
*** BEWARE: Doing so disallows the player to return to being a regular vampire, there is no going back from this decision. ***
>> Turok-Han Transformation.
The final step to becoming a Vampire Lord is to use the Turok-Han Transformation lesser power, at this point the Turok-Han vampire blood in the person activates and you are forever changed; no longer can you return to being just an ordinary vampire.
>> The Mortal Disguise.
There are few option for blending into society once you become a Turok-Han vampire, the only way to walk among mortals without having them attack you would be to activate this lesser power. However, this effect does not last forever; you blood will continually drain while using this power and when you run out of blood you will be forced to transform back into your real form, the Vampire Lord form. The trade off being that your vampire powers are much stronger as a Turok-Han vampire than as a Regular Vampire.

= Frequently Asked Questions =
==============================
>> GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: Why have you done this?!
A: I always wanted vampirism to work in this manner and I felt inspired to create it myself. If you don't like it, you don't have to use this mod. There are other vampire overhaul mods out there that handles vampirism differently, check those out if this one doesn't strike your fancy.
Q: Is this mod compatible with other Vampire Overhaul mods?
A: No. Because this mod overhauls, not only the base vampirism but also the vampirism from the Dawnguard DLC it will not be compatible with any mods that touches vampirism at all.
Q: I get a message about losing control, what is that?
A: It means that you've just turning feral either because you used up all of your blood pool or you lack experience as a vampire and therefore lost control over your vampiric side causing you to snap and turn.
Q: As a Turok-Han is it normal that I have Red Eyes in Human Form?
A: Yes, I wanted to differentiate between the 2 vampire forms (Regular Vampires and Vampire Lords) so the different eye colors are how you can tell them apart.
------------------------------
>> FEEDING SYSTEM QUESTIONS
Q: How does feeding work?
A: To feed you must face your target with your hands in a combat stance while in Vampiric Form, this will replace the Activate option with a Feed one; the reason I did this is because I wanted the feeding mechanics to be handled without the use of a text box.
Q: Can I still feed on sleeping NPCs?
A: Yes you can. The only difference is that your weapon/magic/fists needs to be raised for the feed option to appear.
Q: Does this mod contain a corpse feeding feature?
A: Yes, you can feed from the corpses of humans and animals. However, those feedings will not count towards your 'Necks Bitten' count for vampire progression.
Q: Does the Ring of Namira regenerate your Blood Pool?
A: No, the ring is about feeding on flesh while a vampire drinks blood... Two different feeding sources.
Q: How do I feed as a Vampire Lord?
A: You can only feed while in the vampire lord form, because the mortal disguise cloaks your vampiric existence which also subdues your ability to feed; the mechanic is handled the same as a regular vampire.
------------------------------
>> OTHER QUESTIONS
Q: Does this mod remove the stages system?
A: It doesn't remove the stages but it does repurpose them as a rank system now instead of a gauge for feeding. Refer to the 'Becoming a Master' subsection in the 'Beginning Your Unlife' section for more information on vampiric stage progression.
Q: I cannot sleep or fast travel, a message appears to tell me that I'm hurting. HELP!?
A: When you are Feral your insides are screaming at you to feed it some blood, because of this you cannot sleep or fast travel while in this state. Feed and once you aren't Feral any longer you will be allowed to sleep.
