Version 2.3a
Very small, possibly unnecessary update. Added a few layers of redundancy for two events in the quest. More details below.
Every few months, I get a bug report about Rudin not spawning in the inn. This has never happened to me and is reported infrequently, so I consider it a rare bug. If it is caused by my mod and not a conflict, I want to fix it. Since I can’t replicate it, I’ve just added another layer of redundancy to the script that enables Rudin. Now it will run a second time under a different event with the same conditions, ensuring he is enabled if the first enable() fails.
In a similar vein, I got a report of Rudin failing to aggro the player at Knifepoint Ridge. I can’t replicate this either, but in my experience, this kind of issue often stems from AI mods altering when/how NPCs aggro. To address this, I’ve changed my aggro script to also add Rudin to a faction that’s hostile to the player, a workaround I’ve successfully used in my other mods that had a similar issue.
Another small thing, renamed the generic NPCs that follow Mia from “Thug” to “Boethiah Cultist”.
2.3a: Added line to aggro script to remove the "Hostage" faction from Rudin on combat start for better compatibility with mods that change how factions behave.
Version 2.2
Small scene tweak update. Rudin now slashes at the player before the screen fades to black and new sounds are played during the ritual as well. More Cinematic.
Very small change to the Boethiah cultists in my mod. Not going to matter/change anything in-game for 99% of users. My cultists now use the original cultists as templates as opposed to using the templates of the original cultists as templates. So if you had a mod that changed the template of the vanilla cultists, that will be reflected in my mod. Tired of the word template?
Version 2.1
NEW IN 2.1: Fixed FOMOD. "Start quest at any level" was being installed regardless if user selected that option.
NEW IN 2.1: Added patch for the mod "Boethiah's Bidding". (See video in description for details.)
Added new voiced NPC, "Mia", she will ambush the player if they are unfit to wear the Ebony Mail (More details in the description).
Scene Tweak: The bear now spawns after dialogue is finished. Not in the middle of it.
Scene Tweak: When the rune is stepped on, Rudin will unsheathe his blade. Little more threatening now.
Version 1.5a
Mod is packaged in FOMOD Installer now.
Now, by default, Rudin will appear in Braidwood Inn at same level as when Boeithah's Calling starts. (Level 30 in Vanilla Skyrim, can be changed by and is fully compatible with Timing is Everything etc.)
Optionally, in the FOMOD, you can choose to have Rudin enabled at the start of the game, allowing you to play the new quest at any level.
Bugfix: Other NPCs could use the wounded marker that was placed for Nort. This has been fixed. Now only Nort can use it.
Fixed a typo in Quest Journal.
Moved Boeathiah Speaker ref table to out of bounds. Was just floating in dragonsreach.
Version 1.4
Truly safe to install mid game. Previous versions introduced a bug with with dialogue not starting. This has been fixed. In addition, starting The Man in Black Quest will now stop the Boeithiah's Calling quest so it won't be stuck in your journal.
Version 1.2a
Hotfixed Aliases using create reference as opposed to External Reference. Should stop extra copies of NPCs appearing at altar..
Version 1.2
Original Quest now begins in the vanilla way as well. You do not need to talk to Rudin first.
Version 1.1
Now fully safe to install mid game no matter if the original Boethiah Quest has been started or not.
