Return the legendary Udefrykte to its memorable fearsome appearance as seen in our first encounter with the species in Morrowind's Bloodmoon DLC.

"A rare member of the Troll family, almost completely covered in thick black fur with a very strong stench, with only the torso, face, hands and feet visible showing rough, dull-colored skin. The eyes, only a pair, are a penetrating yellowish green, and both hands and feet end in large, sharp black claws. The mouth has rows of long teeth, but the canines stand out for their unusual size. They generally inhabit caves, and are rarely seen, having an almost legendary status. However, the unfortunate ones who encounter them usually end up becoming their lunch.

Very few have been documented in recent centuries, the best known being the one killed by the Nerevarine in Solstheim, who lived in a cave near Lake Fjalding, and who massacred the inhabitants of Thirsk Mead Hall, a little over 200 years ago. Later, a few years after the previous report, the also legendary Hero of Kvatch killed in Cyrodiil the matriarch who supposedly gave birth to the beast. This Udefrykt Matron was known as The Horror of Dive Rock, and is said to have caused many deaths, living high in the Jerall Mountains."

A former monster hunter, now a dedicated scholar, he is planned to be released as an NPC in late 2022/early 2023, doing the same job in-game as my descriptions do on Nexus.)

- Udefrykte is a type of Troll that first appeared in Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion, under the name Udyrfrykte, then as Uderfrykte Matron, in Oblivion, and finally as Udefrykte in Skyrim. In all games, they have always been a unique non-respawnable enemy, unfortunately, both Oblivion and Skyrim made it a banal-looking monster, using the model of normal Trolls, thus losing its uniqueness, something that this mod aims to correct;

(from left to right: the original Udyrfrykte, my replacer inspired on it, the generic troll used as Udefrykte in vanilla Skyrim)

- A new model faithful to the original and unique design of Morrowind's Udyrfrykte, with 4k textures. In vanilla Skyrim a model of a normal Troll was used, with small modifications to the model to make it beefier, and re-textured to get a little closer to the original Udyrfrykte, however, it didn't even come close, taking away the uniqueness of this species. Furthermore, the textures were in 1k (this slightly modified vanilla Troll model however will not be wasted, I re-textured it to 4k resolution and will find use for it as a variant of normal Trolls in another mod of mine in the future);

- The new Udefrykte is slightly bigger than a Troll now, in addition to having more hp and stamina proportional to its lvl. The lvl, which was previously fixed at 22, now scales with the player, going from 22 to 55, depending on the player's character level
;

- Now Udefrykte has its own race, no longer affected by mods that modify vanilla Trolls. Initially it was classified as a Frost Troll, but it used the attack data of normal Trolls, making it weaker than a Frost Troll, even though it is a technically stronger creature. Now it not only matches a Frost Troll but modestly surpasses it in the damage it can deal. Furthermore, the attacks now make a sound compatible with Udefrykte's long claws, and I enabled some attacks for it that the Troll animation has but are disabled for common Trolls in vanilla;

- I maintained the 50% weakness to fire that all vanilla Trolls have, but now its hp regeneration is equivalent to that of a common Troll, and not half the regeneration speed it had before, which was equal to that of a Frost Troll. It now has 70% resistance to poison, 33% resistance to ice like a Frost Troll, and 33% resistance to magic in general, which increases its resistance to ice and decreases its weakness to fire, respectively, since in Morrowind it had resistance to all elements, so I tried to find a middle ground;

- Now its attacks can transmit Ataxia and Brain Rot, due to its habits of eating corpses and living in the midst of their rotting remains, in humid and unhealthy environments;

- The creature now has custom sounds, is flagged as Protected, that is, it can only be killed by the player (so you don't lose the experience) and remains unique and non-respawnable.
Udefrykte continues to be found only and exclusively in Dawnstar's Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, just like in vanilla;

- I considered giving it a weapon made from the severed and partially eaten leg of a Nord, just like in Bloodmoon, but it was a specific case where it ripped off the leg of a Nord from Thirsk Mead Hall during its attack on the place, so I didn't saw as necessary to give this one a leg like that as a weapon too;

- The question of the name, Udefrykte, Uderfrykte or Udyrfrykte, is irrelevant, I kept the version used in Skyrim, and let's face it, the name is basically the same, and it sounds the same, so it doesn't matter which version is used;

- The Uderfrykte Matron from Oblivion "does not use" the model of a Troll, in fact it is a basically invisible creature, by some magical power, and covered with an elemental effect of ice magic. It was only due to a bug, which happened frequently, that it appeared as a normal Troll, without invisibility and without the ice effect. It wasn't Bethesda's intention to represent it as a Troll, but as it was probably a last minute easter egg and not very relevant, they understandably didn't dedicate time to making a new model, giving to it this invisible appearance with the ice elemental covering. Later, as the aforementioned bug caused many to see it as a common Troll, in Skyrim they decided once and for all that the Udefryktes would have the appearance that Trolls have in that game, giving to Skyrim's Udefrykte only small unique details that resembled the original from Bloodmoon;

(from left to right: the Uderfrykte Matron from Oblivion when it works as intended, my spectral Udefrykt Matron, the Uderfrykte Matron from Oblivion when the special effects do not work, thus making it appear as a normal Troll)

- I decided to bring in and re-imagine the Uderfrykte Matron as well, using the same appearance used on the Udefrykte replacement, but now as a ghost of the Uderfrykte Matron we killed in Oblivion. Now, it is no longer completely invisible, but rather spectral (because the monster is dead), but it maintains the ice elemental effect on its body, causing ice damage with its attacks;

- The Udefrykte Matron is available as a summon. For some reason, after being killed in Dive Rock, its soul was transformed into a spelltome, and due to mysterious circumstances it ended up in the possession of the Matron's surviving son. By killing it in the Dawnstar Sanctuary it is possible to acquire the summon spell;

(Udefrykt head trophy on Thirsk Mead Hall on the island of Solstheim, where the first beast was slain)

- As an Easter egg and homage to Morrowind, the stuffed head of the Udyrfrykte killed by us in the Bloodmoon Dlc can now be seen above the entrance door of the Thirsk Mead Hall in Solstheim.

The mod is not compatible with other mods that modify the textures or model of Udefrykt. If you have one installed, or think you might have one, put this mod below it/them in your load order. If you are asked about files overwriting those of other mods, press "Yes to all".

(OBS- If by chance when installing several of Mihail's mods at the same time you are asked about files overwriting those of other Mihail mods or other authors mods, don't worry because they are just the same files shared between mods. I recommend that on these occasions always give preference to the files contained in my mods, and among mine always give preference to the mod you are installing last.)

The Mihail Monsters and Animals series aims to create and make available to the community the most complete set of creatures for TES 5: Skyrim, implemented in an immersive and unique way, with respect to the pillars of lore. Instead of pathetically just throwing models and textures in the game reusing 100% vanilla mechanics, the creatures made by Mihail have uniqueness and extreme zeal in their idealization and implementation, which will provide you with an experience that you have never had before in this area.
