• Protected NPCs knockdown instead of kneeling when hit by a killing blow by NPCs.
• Protected NPCs die as supposed to when hit by PC.
• Optionally exclude followers.
• ESPFE (ESP flagged as ESL).
  

There are some alternatives for making essential NPCs ragdoll/knockdown instead of kneeling, and I find Edryu's cut closer to my tastes. I also happen to have another mod to make NPCs protected (it takes quests into consideration so won't break stuff). And I'm done seeing them kneel.

So I edited conditions in xEdit to cover protected NPCs along with essentials. Seeing in the comments that some folk asking the same, I decided to release this.

Optionally exclude followers from knockdown feature, they will kneel as Vanilla. Useful if you have a mod like Press E to Heal Followers by JaySerpa.

Note that the effect won't fire every now and then, but that's a limitation of the original mod. This won't mess anything up though.



That would pretty be the same as original mod, this is just a condition edit. My guess is everything except mods with same intention.



1. Essentials Knockdown



Please use a mod manager of choice.

If not, you only need file "Protecteds Knockdown.esp", which comes with two alternatives. If you want every Essential & Protected NPCs including followers (in case they are also either essential or protected), you need the one in folder "ess+pro". If you want to exclude followers, you need the one in folder "ess+pro-fol". Extract which one you need in your data folder. Delete when you want to uninstall.

You should be safe to (un)install or switch between options about followers mid play. If intending to, ensure that no NPC is under the effect of being knockdown, just to be safe.

But you always back up your saves. This is Skyrim, afterall. You never know when it Just Works™. 💪🏻
