patch history for Vanilla hair remake versions
v 0.38 - fully updated
v 0.39 - fully updated
v 1.02 - fully updated
It is unlikely the patches will need to be updated anytime soon. Enjoy.
(not yet released) wip race unlocks - extended options for character creation - previously locked options to certain races available to others. p.e. orc hair to elf. The wip will unlock races and gender options and mix them. to do - A review is needed to evaluate if a high poly head patch is necessary for all the new options and an update to a new headpart.txt enabling it for use as a modder´s resource is also planned. non-hdt also planned but not likely. Completed. New options: males/females (race unlocks) 183, gender unlocks 97. Total 280 + alt options eta: end of the June (optimistic) examples more examples
You don’t need to swap any parts in nifskope; high poly head has xedit scripts for swapping headparts from vanilla to HPH. Just do that, and then generate facegen; you don’t need the vhr tool unless you do SMP stuff I’m pretty sure. Don’t use SMP myself, and my personal replacer for Lydia came out great; https://imgur.com/VZbMWmp
Yes, the tool is not necessary without smp, I got carried away. I do not know if the op uses scripts, hph, or esp. Have to ask for proper troubleshoot. If you only have a custom head, high poly head to use is one thing, if you sculpt it, eyes, head, mouth, brows you absolutely should swap to have your custom face because ck does not handle all character sliders that are commonly used with mods for char creation. I will add a more detailed description.
I can't download the main file. It says "This file is currently being uploaded to our CDN servers. If this is taking longer than expected, please contact a moderator or email us."
Thank you for fixing the fomod, it seems there is still a problem with the folder structure. Got 'Data' folder installed instead of the 'meshes' folder.
No, that is not a clipping. The head has hair and is bald underneath. There is no hairline there, it is missing. The hairline is the second part of the hair. The npc facegen is wrong, someone made it. edit: I see it underneath, yes.
I've already done facegen as I told you. The assets (head mesh, eye mesh, hair and hairline mesh) that I have were used to built the new head meshes for npcs.
Anyway, thanks for the patch man, have a good one.
Secondly, a few quick notes for anyone else like me who ends up with same issues:
If you use [VHR and HPH - patch] and have selected the [High Poly Hair] option during the head install, the instructions state that: "If you use high poly hair from high poly head - overwrite vanilla hair remake but do not overwrite high poly head" That would eliminate most VHR changes
However, if you do: HPH 1.4 > VHR 0.39 > [VHR and HPH - patch] the results are greatly improved, but not yet perfect
Mainly femaledarkelfhair0X_hairline / femaledarkelfhair07.nif / femaleredguardhair03.nif / femaleredguardhair04.nif still have clipping in the rear, even if using the fix And maledarkelfhair07.nif appears to float slightly above the head
BUT (and that's a big butt), if you download the [High Poly Head only - Unmodded vanilla hair patch] and take the femaledarkelfhair07.nif / femaleredguardhair03.nif / femaleredguardhair04.nif and override [VHR and HPH - patch]
Then go to the HPH mod (with the hair option selected during install) and grab femaledarkelfhair0X_hairline (multiple) and maledarkelfhair07.nif, and let those override further THEN, you'll end up with a clipping free combination with minimal floating hair
Screenshot below are examples of the type of clipping that occurs if used directly:
Hello. "If you use high poly hair from high poly head - overwrite vanilla hair remake but do not overwrite high poly head" Yes. No. You are not asked to overwrite vanilla hair remake with high poly hair. You are asked to overwrite vanilla hair remake with this patch but not high poly hair. When installing these mods let vanilla hair remake overwrite high poly hair. This mod patches Vanilla hair remake. Install any of these files/patches last.
Try that and see if you have any issues. Then I can address what is. p.e. is that shaved dark elf07 from complementary unmodded file, from high poly with or without high poly hair? that´s 3 questions for that alone where I can´t follow.
I've tried different combinations, HPH (with high poly hair) uses the same nifs are VHR, so VHR needs to override HPH naturally, as you stated and which I am using (I just noticed I accidentally wrote VHR 0.39 > HPH 1.4 in the original comment in error, actually using HPH 1.4 > VHR 0.39), then comes the patch
So the used order is HPH 1.4 > VHR 0.39 > [VHR and HPH - patch] With that order I get the clipping per the screenshots / slightly floating hair with MaleDarkElf07
The unmodded files / specific HPH overrides actually fix the clipping
PS: Note that the clipping occurs at angles and when moving, so could simply be z-fighting Also the clipping occurs with or without HPH High Poly hair when using the pure HPH head mesh with VHR > [VHR and HPH - patch]
Ok. So the shaved elf is from high poly mod alone. I have to check again. This is with high poly head toggled in face parts? (sorry, I have to ask this :/).
Well, it is fixable. I had this tested with sneaking animations (also) to ensure the clippings were resolved, its possible some endured because all of these issues are difficult sometimes.
The same issues remain for the females? The femalereguardhair03, which you reported, is addressed in the high poly head - high poly hair fixes file. 07 is another shaved one. I made the complementary unmodded first, its possible I had later these files still on while making the high poly hair fixes, and then have not included them for it. That leaves darkelffemalehair 04 to check. I will test this combination later today and thanks for taking the time.
Ofcourse using the high poly head parts, and yes it's mostly the close shaved heads on females The maledarkelf07 has no clipping but is too clearly floating due to mesh differences, the HPH version is closer without clipping, not a significant issue however
For femalereguardhair03, I did try the fix but it had no effect, the clipping persisted Only the unmodded versions corrected the clipping
Keep in mind as this is appears to be z-fighting it may be impacted by individual settings / graphics cards If you cannot replicate I say consider it an anomaly and leave this comment in case someone else runs into the same render behavior
Alright, I´ll take a look sometime today if I can. It is not impacted by graphics or configurations, renders. It is fixable by hand and easy to replicate, and it is the same for everyone.
I do not try to fix z fighting, just the object, and the object would reflect the same way always for everyone, it is not a subjective result if I alter it. So the issue is the object at the end. Thanks for letting me know, I´ll post you my results later.
Hello. Updated to 1.3.1. The shaved redguard hairs and elves have been reworked - I somehow lost some of the work on them previously so made some edits. Female elf 05 is addressed as well. I just want to give a tip. Some hairs like the shaved ones do not update like most meshes. What I mean is that disabling a mesh that is replaced in a folder by alt tabbing the game and then enabling them again in-game almost always show the new mesh. This is not the case for the shaved hairs. These need a new game reload to appear changed (not going into details). And for most hairs for the player, the race needs to be reset to another, played, and back for the char menu for the changes to appear.

Yes, there is something in elf5, I believe jg1 will address it.

I did as mentioned in the installation guide but still getting black face bug, what am I doing wrong?

A npc mod combining those mods and without this has...clippings.

Try the same hair on the same race on the player character and see for yourself.
Anyway, thanks for the patch man, have a good one.
